  1. Every scienstist would be worried that their very first rover would work properly after landing, much like every person at NASA JPL was biting their nails like crazy duting Curiosity's descent, and Spirit and Opportunitys respective landings some 9 years ago.
  2. Tried the 0.22 today after a week away, and i am finding the science aspect very much to my liking! It's a great addition and restarted my interest in the game in a way. I am however struggling with the science-aspect in certain ways, as i have yet to figure out how to best use the scientific parts to their max. Still, that's pilot ineptitude, not the games fault .
  3. Nice to meet a fellow Komrade! I named my own almost the same.
  4. InterKerbmos, as we travel to space for all of kerbalkind in the name of science, adventure and socialism! Plus the awesome mission patches... especially the patches... well, just for the patches and ribbons...
  5. It is reasonable for the cause of SCIENCE! Really, as far as Kerbal Space program this would be quite fun and interesting, but in our world, no... But KSP is not our world so let's get blasting! :D
  6. Some mechanic of orbital decay should be included, as it makes it necessary to refuel stations and other facilities and keeping track of them. And satellites would need to be maintained here and there as to not just be launched and loiter there for all eternity. Granted, there is satellites launched in the '60s still up there in our world, contributing to an increasing mass of junk and scrap in orbit, but many satellites decay and burn in the atmosphere as well, Sputnik 1 is a prime example, as well as MIR which was boosted to a higher orbit multiple times, as well as some of the older Saljut stations until they met their demise when the atmosphere gripped them. EDIT: To clarify, it would be a very weak force decaying these objects, not too strong and not too frequent as it would be a tedium to manage 10+ objects at the same time.
  7. Yes! I love it. I must say i was surprised about the Green House, very witty there . I guess the Reds will get their orders from The Kermlin by the Green square then? Haha!
  8. If one would like to say that the race is over, yes. USSR got the first satellite and the first man into orbit, as well as the first nation to land a probe onto another planet and first to build and inhabit a space station, among others. The US were the first to land people on the Moon, as well as send probes to interstellar space, among other things. I would like to say that the Soviets won the space race, as they were the first to get a man into orbit and then back home again. The US on the other hand would have won the "Moon race" and the "Interstellar race". All in my own humble opinion.
  9. Oh that is just perfect! I can't wait for the Reds first launch, Komrade, or is it Kermrade?
  10. That was great! Can't wait for the press conference. I am sorry if i missed something obvious, but what about the perspective from the Kerbal Union? Or is this this focused on the Kerbal States?
  11. I like these kinds of stories, and given the past record for the author i have high anticipations for this one . I do feel that it would be a little bit more fun if Wernher von Braun could be named Wernher von Grün instead if you get it . But then it would only be fair if Sergei Korolyov gets his green imposter in the shape of a certain Sergei Kerbalyev or something. Regardless of what i will enjoy another fine read.
  12. For me this is an absolute must-have! It's great and adds so much more immersion, and having the radio pitched and reversed makes it oh so fun to listen to, like in the movies where they speak "Kerbalese". Great job! There is loads of space chatter from the Soviet space program etc. on the internet, i reckon those must be in the public domain due to their age and the fact that the SU doesn't exist anymore. EDIT: I forgot, all NASA chatter is also in the public domain as long as it's released to the public by NASA itself, so players should be OK to add those to the game at least.
  13. This is a must-have. I only retextured the Kerbals so far and it looks splendid!
  14. Jebediah was lost while he was piloting a new plane i had built for him at 1,528m/s, then he crashed upon landing.... Poor soul. He's now listed as "lost" in 0.21.1, will i be able to recruit him again or is he lost for all eternity, his restless soul condemned to wander the plane hangar?
  15. Nån som sett om Christer Fuglesang fått upp ögonen för KSP ännu? Om inte så borde vi se till att han får se det, han om nån borde ju vara intresserad!
  16. The problem i had when looking at pictures of the golden record was that i couldn't for the life of myself figure out what half of the symbols on it meant. Of course i had the instructions in a separate image next to it but still, i thought that if a human being of average intelligence can't understand the symbols, who thinks an alien of average intelligence would? I assume that any possible aliens wouldn't speak any of our languages or even define the pictures they look at the same way as us, but why not just a big arrow pointing towards the "play" button ?
  17. I built a rover that tipped over and disintegrated.
  18. Thank you. Exactly what i was looking for.
  19. I agree that the .craft files are seriously messing up Spaceport, a site i thought was going to be used solely for new parts, mods etc. Wasn't the hideously large amount of spammed craft files that got the "old" site to be shut off by whoever was running that site? In all seriousness i think that .craft files should at least be put in an altogether separate category which would be unaffected by searches made on the site. If i want (new) satellite parts or mods for them i don't want to dig through a mountain of outdated, nonworking stock .craft files for satellites. Same goes for launchers and other stock-assembled vessels, as these can be uploaded here in an altogether own subforum for spaceships and craft files. I do believe someone should be appointed to the post of managing the stuff submitted to Spaceport, and take on the titanic battle against those outdated, inefficient and non-appealing craft files that currently litter the whole area.
  20. This one is cool and brings back nostalgic memories. Popcorn for you, sir!
  21. Still checking in everyday to see the progression. I like the poll you introduced, let's you get a good grip on what us plebeians crave for our amusement in this space-Colloseum .
  22. If you manage to get the parts straight concerning the amount of Kerbals fitting into a module or another you should make 2 separate modules since the Vostok carried 1 single Cosmonaut into orbit and the Voskhod, being just a modified Vostok, managed to carry a very cramped crew of 3 Cosmonauts (Without pressure suits, mind you) into orbit. Voskhod 2 was apparently capable of carrying 2 Cosmonauts with suits as Alexei Leonov did the first E.V.A on that mission. So you can basically fit how many Kerbonauts as you wish in those capsules if you want to make 2 different, e.g 1 capsule with 1 Kerbonaut capacity (Vostok) with less weight, and one with 3 capacity (Voskhod, the Kerbals must be REALLY squeezed in there as they are always using space suits...) with more weight, since it's the same basic design in the end. Don't know abou the Soyuz though, but plenty of pictures and info on it's interior is avalible on the internet. Making the interiors for at least the Voskhod should not be any difficulty for someone decent at modelling since it was very basic. There's also a made in Orbiter, with some brief sights of the capsules inside.Keep up the good work! You got a lot of people cheering for you here .
  23. I tested the original one and i liked it for what it was, but i quickly found out that it needed a few struts to avoid it breaking apart a few hundred meters up from the launchpad. Given a bit of upscaling and a slight redesign of the model as you implied it would be a great rocket for us who are inspired by historical models. In it's current, basic state it's decent for lifting moderate loads into low-kerbin orbit or very light loads around the Mun and back, but i haven't managed to fit anything that resembles a manned lander with return-to-home capability to it with any success...
  24. I am also interested in the upscaled version if Nova, the original author, complies with it's release. Would be so awesome. A user here named Mivanit is making some soviet inspired things and i'm very excited about that project. I'ts almost as i'm starting to faint when i see before me a massive N1 carrying a Soyuz with Gagarinski Kerman on board for the stars! POYEKHALI!
