Yea, when I built my space station I for the most part kept it to just bringing up the pieces, but I couldn't help myself and I had to include a few satellites on a few of the launches ;P Like I said, its sort of a thrill having to figure things out on the fly. Its fun not knowing if everything is going to work perfectly and having to come up with solutions when things inevitably go wrong
-
I think some of the joy of packing lots of things into one mission is the unknown factor. Just not knowing if everything is going to work is kind of a thrill. But I think its also fun having to make things up on the fly when things go wrong. I dunno, maybe that's just me xD
-
I dunno about you guys but I like to pack as many things into a mission as possible. Its not just "Send one satellite into orbit" its "Launch three satellites then a Mun lander just for fun". I dunno why. Maybe its just that I like to save the trip and get as much accomplished as possible. Sorta like this: I had never been to Jool let alone Laythe. But I brought a crap ton to do. 3 Satellites, 3 Rovers, a landing pod. I just like to pack as much as I can into a mission. Maybe its because I'm not so experience in interplanetary flight that I don't want to make the effort 3-4 times to the same place when I can just do it all in one shot. However the downside to my "DO EVERYTHING AT ONCE" strategy is that I rarely test all of the components individually. I just sort of send them and hope everything works according to plan XD (which it normally doesn't) But anywho, what about you guys. Do you like making precise single purpose launches or are you like my and jam as much to do onto every mission as you can?

See space on micro-parts.

Dude, there are several people (including me) who are waiting for their submissions to get counted and put on the scoreboard. Its like you've ignored them.... -
Around 3 minutes in my docking "attempts..." Half of it caused by me trying to dock with out docking clamps (assumed they were built into the 6 way thingy) and half caused by my incompetence...

Thanks Would I have to include the weight of both vehicles in my score xD? But man, I have enough trouble getting them up there let alone getting two of them to dock XD Thanks, although built into .20 is a weight calculator so pulling that up right now it weights 7.12 Tons. So yea... I get the extra 20 points -

*Holds up shiveringly embarrassing entry...* Yea... I know... Not too impressive... but I gave it my best shot... So I believe I got space and orbit... dunno about the weight challenge. I don't have an easy way to calculate that. ( This is the ship file in case you'd like to see it.) Thanks for the fun challenge =) -
Well this video pretty much explains it: So yea. Basically try to get as high as you can with just sepratrons. I'm not going to set a specified payload as I assume people will try to optimize it themselves. I know my attempt is probably pretty terrible in comparison with what you all can do so I'm expecting to get trounced quite badly but I still think itll be cool Records: Popuptwo - 65,061 ( )Please note, I do not hate your computers but I do want to see them spin their gears on this one

Just asking a little bit of a question, do you guys plan out EVERY single detail of what your missions are going to be (Get into this orbit, burn this much) or are you guys like me. Just sorta wing it. Have a general idea of what you want to do and just...well wing it... figure out whats possible and just explore. I sorta like to just make a space ship I think that can do the job, attach a few fun things to do once I get there, not test anything, just try it and see what happens. Example of Winging it, "I would like to do stuff at Laythe.... Now... How do I get there...": I think eventually I would maybe like to get to the planning everything out stage, but I love the sense of adventure as to trying to figure stuff out on the fly.

Well, posted another video. This time I derp with some rockets
-
I take another stab at the Mun... and fail miserably as usual...
-
Oops! Didn't realize that, thanks (Panic mode to go change all my titles and stuff xD)
-
Thanks xD Yea sorry about that xD They're new features to ME so xD but I did try out the IVA in the next video Thanks
-
Well, I did a little short series back in the demo to see if I wanted the actual game: Here Dey iz So to summarize the series, I set myself a goal, if I landed on the Mun I'd get the full game. Now for the most part I made it (a little twisting of the definition of the word "landing" but eventually I made it xD ) But anyway, I decided to make a few videos on my goal to properly land on the mun with the amazing new features... and you know what I found? I still stink at this game xD but I still had some fun with these attempts xD So I thought I'd share this little videos with ya (When ever I make more 1.7 vids I'll update this thread.) I derp with some Rockets (.16 but still good I think) I'm a LITTLE Rusty New Features Taking a Stab at the Mun

Attempt 13 is up. I finally made it (sort of xD) but It counts enough from me xD
-
Attempt 12 is up (Getting very close...)
-
Gah, still haven't gotten around to it, but I'ma do it right now xD Attempt 7 is up (Should I put them in spoilers in the first post?)
-
Yea I just haven't gotten around to it xD I've been to busy to even play the game so I haven't had the initiative to go and buy it The lander has the following stages. Capsule, parachute and decoupler for returning to Kerbin ASAS, fuel tank, RCS & tank, and gimble engine for trans-Kerbin return burn. Make sure the engine is listed below the three decouplers in the stage list for the ship. Otherwise, when you activate the engine, the three fuel tank landing legs fall off. Whenever I would make changes to the ship in the demo, the automatic stager would sometimes place the three decouplers with the lander gimble engine and if I didn't notice before liftoff, I would lose them when I activated the engine. Three radial decouplers with the following on each. Fuel tank with SAS underneath to land on. Struts and fuel lines from the outside tanks to the middle tank. I added the moveable winglets for additional landing leg support. Make sure that the SAS extends below the engine so that engine is not damaged in landing. The screen shot was my first attempt to land on the Mun which was successful. If you can have your launcher get you on a path to the Mun, before you decouple the lander, then you should have lots of fuel for landing. I started my landing from the apoapsis of the Mun orbit, so I was able to get a near vertical descent to the landing spot. As you can see, I landed on the nght side and luckily was slightly drifting with the slope when I touched down. The lander slid for a little bit before coming to a rest. I took a couple of pictures, before I got Bill and Bob to both be smiling at the same time. Of course, Jeb never stopped smiling the whole flight. I attached my Saturn I craft file from the demo. It uses no mods. I'll have to try that out as soon as I get the time to play some more KSP (I haven't played since I recorded this short series thing and I just haven't had the time to play), I've been itching to get more into it. But I'll definitely try this out the next time I shoot for the mun Thanks Yea, I plan to, I just need to get some time to devote to it xD
-
Thanks xD Yea, those were a big problem for me xD I've made several craters on the mun but I can't wait to try this with the actually landing struts xD
-
Attempt Six is up
-
Herm. That's pretty interesting. (New Video up )
-
Ah xD Well that's pretty cool. Herm, very interesting
-
Thanks (Basically you EVA while in orbit and the kerbonaut becomes like a meteor?) If I'm understanding you correctly you're saying I should use the Solid Fuel Boosters (I had tried to avoid using them, but several attempts later I needed to use them and finally relented and I used 3 of them.) I have gained a fair bit of experience flying since I recorded these videos and I believe I only used both SAS and ASAS at the same time because it was tumbling and I wanted it to stop but I didn't want to have to fly it completely manual so I did that. I'll try to keep them alive as they are awesome Thanks
-
Definitely going to try to do that as soon as I pick it up xD. (Attempt one video posted )
-
Well, basically I had watched KurtJMac play KSP and so I picked up the free demo. I had a little bit of fun with it so I wondered if I wanted the full game or not. So I set myself a goal. If I got to the Mun and was able to land on it, I'd pick up the whole game. So I set off to do it. Attempt Thirteen: Building the Rocket: Attempt One: Attempts Two through Five: Attempt Six: Attempt Seven: Attempt Twelve:
