  1. aha. I gotcha now. and during testing, the XR wings with nacelles are CRAZY unstable as back-mounted deltawings. no matter what I tried, I had way too much noselift with canards. couldn't keep the thing under control. This merits further experimentation!

  3. as a related idea, what about a through-mount nacelle 'kit' that has the topside and bottomside halves of the nacelle body such that they attach so they're clipped around the wing, or if possible, make the collision not prevent that kind of mount Edit: found the wings in question - they're the XR wings and can be found in C7 2.1 if you can dig up a copy. (XRW, XRW-L and XRW-L-E, -E is the With Nacelle version) and I'd be happy with just a Wing Extender part that carries a nacelle, if you decide to make one single, the other wingtypes would be candy beyond that

I've had varied success with spaceplanes, however I enjoy using a gamepad. makes it so much better. requires Aero Engines pack - http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/15348-0-16-Spaceplane-parts-rescales-edits-and-additions MAKE SURE to close the plane's landing gear before takeoff or you'll get massive instability. this is an experimental rocket boosted takeoff vehicle. you'll want to turn off the RAMjet engines so they don't waste fuel, if you're sticking to low altitudes. flight ceiling 18,000meters or so, that's with MAXIMUM elevator because of the huge angle of attack needed at that altitude with the amount of wing it's got.
  5. it'd be nice (hint hint) if someone, maybe the devs, could include a mapping to restrict surfaces to a particular mapping (or at least, a function to make it part of the part.cfg) because vertical non-symmetry rudders REALLY screw up roll control

I personally LOVE the look of the shockwave cone. heck, I even used it for my main nosecone! side note - there used to be a C7 wing with an integrated engine nacelle, would such be a reasonable thing to ask if your modelling skills are up to it? be REALLY handy for getting thrust balance right at high altitudes

  9. if your firewall is properly configured, you should *never* have to do this just for a web download. bad advice bro
  10. the swing-wing pivot needs some cfg or model work - it\'s nearly impossible to actually connect a wing to as there is no 'flat' face to grab - if there is, it\'s no bigger than a pinhead and even at tightest hangar zoom, I was unable to link up a wing.

HOwson makes a good point, you might change the names to 'Fuel Slug' (engine) and 'Generator' (tank) (for more info, look up some of the various types of actual Ion drives, but the principle of a mass-reaction drive remains, though the mechanism is different than a chemical rocket - you need to accelerate some material out the back, and one system vapes a thin layer off the back end of a semi-inert block of something, and then charge-accelerates that vapor)
