So i just fixed my computer and loaded up KSP. My first asteroid i tracked is a Class E that will ram into Kerbin in 89 days. Now my question is will i have enough time to unlock the nessessary parts down the tech tree to stop it from Colliding and maybe even capturing it? It's a fresh save.

Kind of want to see someone kerbalize Space: 1999 on a class E astroid.
-
I think you win the Kraken Ribbon, someone needs to make that

So I'm building a ship semi inspired by star trek. its going to have two engine nescells with each one a cluster of 4 nuclear engines. Now my question is if there is a structural strength difference between fuel tanks and Fuselage? I was originally going to use the fuselage as the pylons to connect the nescells to the main ship but a friend of mine suggested fuel tanks so I can bring more fuel. Oh I suppose I should mention its first mission is to the jool system to study all the moons

I just wanted to take the time and express how glad I am that the ksp community is not only nice but willing to go out of there way to help new players with any questions they have. I only bring this up because hearthstone recently officially launched and I decided to visit their forums. All the name calling, put downs and just general hate made me miss these forums. So again thank you everyone for your ability to be patient with new players and your civil attitude.

So I hear grappling hook..... I now want to recreate the snowspeader from empire strikes back.

WATCH OUT DOWN THERE! - Awesome landings showcase
Stilgar2300 replied to InterCity's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Just barely worked. No testing before landing this rescue vehical. Had to burn RCS at the same to slow myself down .1 m/s every second. -
So how does everyone deploy their labs? Currently I use them on orbital stations but I'm finding it impractical. I'm currently designing and testing a mobile lab similar to Scot Manley's from eve or bust series. I've also seen them as parts or permanent bases. Show off your labs

She is now. Thank you

Landing on the Münar polar regions are cursed for me. 24 attempted landings and all of them have failed.most of the time the kraken attacks or I've also had parts just disappear! Plus it's just dark and a little scary there. I've decided to never revisit the poles again because of how freaky it is.

I've been gone from the forum for almost a month (the wife had to have emergency surgery) and I keep seeing post about Kraken powered ships? Can some explain this or point me in the direction of where I can learn about it?

Do landing legs actually break?
Stilgar2300 replied to I_Killed_Jeb's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Yes, i just broke 3 out of 6 landing legs on an emergency Munar landing. took me a while to figure out why only 3 of the six were working. wish i had a screen shot to show u -
So here it it, Munar Expedtion 1 <a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=nz2feh" target="_blank"><img src="http://i42.tinypic.com/nz2feh.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a> I sent it in three separate launches and docked them in munar orbit. Now i just have to build a kethane extractor and refinery.

How did you feel when you made your first rocket/orbit/landing?
Stilgar2300 replied to JiWint's topic in KSP1 Discussion
My first orbit went something like this: Sitting in the city library on my laptop and just bought the game (version .16). Spent 4 hours experimenting with ships. Finally think I've got it. Launch and use all the skills I've accumulated in the four hours. All my tanks are empty. Open map and I'm in orbit. A crappy orbit but still and orbit. Let out a yell of triumph at top of my lungs Got kicked out of library Still worth it -
[SHOWCASE] Most insane Aircraft
Stilgar2300 replied to Stilgar2300's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Jeb is currently in a totally planned base that isn't a Lander who's engine sheered off when the parachute deployed. I really should rescue I mean relieve him o e of these days -
So i've been playing with aircraft in my Career and i've designed a couple of insane Aircraft that well don't work to well but look awsome. <a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=eb1nkh" target="_blank"><img src="http://i41.tinypic.com/eb1nkh.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a> This was so uncontrolable i'm just going to abandon the 45 degree engine idea <a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=2mqiwoz" target="_blank"><img src="http://i39.tinypic.com/2mqiwoz.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a> I was bored, so i put wings on a booster. SO what about you? any designs that are just so wacky that you gave up?
-
You always seem to show up on my threads. And you come bearing gifts my cpu cringes at lol. Got to try thatk
-
Would a design like this work in KSP? I mean should i just give up now on this kind of aircraft or can KSP simulate aerodynamics correctly?
-
So hear me out (and I do apologize if this has been suggested before but I did search first and didn't see it) during long term missions on other planets I find that Rovers are sometimes to slow and jets aren't very practical but there really isn't any middle ground. That's where propeller driven vehicles would come in. You could built small helicopters for your kerbins to hop around the planet makes travel a little easier. Maybe make it battery powered but make its lift ability poor to balance it. I dunno what do u think
-
"What the hell just exploded?" During a landing on Mun my landing gear decided to blow up about 100m. My favorite was my 8 year old when his rocket blew up during ascent "OMG I'M GOING TO DO THAT AGAIN!" Edit I forgot one " I put on enough parachute to keep my science equipment safe..... I think" about four seconds before everything but the crew capsule exploded
-
So I'm designing a small flying probe for use on heavy atmosphere planets/moon (eve, lythe etc.)So that when science zones(really don't like the term biosphere) will be covered. Anyone else use aircraft probes? Also has anyone built a working and stable hovercraft? I can't seem to build one for the life of me.
-
So when your re-entering Kerbin's atmosphere do you retract the solar panels or do you let them get destroyed? I personally let them get destroyed, a little bit of a show.

I think my computer wet itself a little
