KSP 1.2.9 and 1.3: Localization Update Stationary Train Consist
-ELF- replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
nonono!! NONONO!!! NOOOOOOOO!!! If the quality of russian translation presented on the screenshots is final - this is total fail... It is incomplete, it is ugly, it is wrong! Where do I volunteer as a translator? I have worked for some international products as a translator, so probably I can fix that? -
We have option to turn lights in cabin on or off, they go bright yellow when you do so. I never used that actually... Why?

Is it true that most KSP players never go interplanetary?
-ELF- replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Playing since version 0.16, year 2012. The farthest I got was Duna(manned+return) outwards, and Eve(unmanned, one way) inwards, both in 2015. I felt very accomplished for both of those, but it would be plain impossible without KER, as I was surprised how big I had to build to get my return spaceship to Duna. It was a monstrosity. I do not like to build big, as the more I build, the more I feel it will explode straight away. So, each new release, I am deleting my save file and start from scratch again. Making planes for Kerbin exploration, making Mun and Minmus ships and rovers. Building space stations in LKO. Starting to think about interplanetary, but another new version comes out. So, I delete my old saves and start from scratch again... Thus, I never really felt ready to go interplanetary before new release... -
My tourists got a really nice view of KSP just before the circularization burn. Meanwhile, Jeb piloted this plane with 4 probes 300kg each on underwing mounts. There was a contract to take temperature readings on ground level around the area (4 sites). Probes were deployed on parachutes precisely where needed, only the Alpha site probe landed 40 meters away from needed area, so jeb landed the plane and pushed 300 kg around to get it into the zone. Contract complete.

I have seen exactly same behaviour when someone on YouTube tried to HyperEdit Kerbin to have bigger orbital velocity. (I think it was Scott Manley, but I am not sure) Anyway, try to check if you have any mod that changes orbital parameters of planets (especially making them go faster.)

I missed my option on the poll - "I have been using Linux long before KSP and KSP was not the point why I installed it". However, voted yes, as it will be so. P.S. I am using 32 bit Linux, and have no benefit of 64 bit currently out of it %)

How do you pronounce different *KSP* things?
-ELF- replied to Robotengineer's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Probably main strange pronounciation for me is Jool - Jul, like in July Also: Ike - Ee-ke. Ee - just long e, wall-e style "Eeeeva!", and ke - no analog in english. Like in Catch, but with more plain sound instead of a... -
Landing a base+rover ship on Duna, with rover landing separately. seprated rover from base at about 3 km over the surface with deployed chutes, it came down a bit faster, popped some wheels, but at least it was intact and able to drive around, and base landed perfectly fine. The thing is. base landed three second before rover, and rover came down on chutes 10 meters away from base. It was awesome!

1.0.4 Parachutes throwing exceptions
-ELF- replied to tutike2000's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Confirmed. Claw's StockBugFixModules 1.0.4a.1 fixes the issue with log spam and crash on linux mint 32bit. I will post it to bugtracker also. -

Meanwhile, here it came, where I supposed it will be later... The age of Powered Descent! Remembering what Elon Musk said speaking about Dragonv2 Capsule powered landing - "So, that is how a 21st century spaceship should land!" I suppose here I go with his words. Trying to make a self-sustainable space program without parachutes... Gonna be... Fun... -

The bug for linux crash is branched off the original bug, it is now http://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/5195 Linux players having this issue, unite, call your friends, we need more data on how it happens. The proposition about missing files seems good, I will compare folders when I get home, as I have old version still, and will see if there is any notable difference. -
What did you name your first rocket?
-ELF- replied to Spacewalking on Sunshine's topic in KSP1 Discussion
"KSTR - I" which stands for "Kerbin Suborbital Test Rocket - Mark 1" It actually made a "suborbital" hop of about 1500 Ap, and half-crash-landed, destroying the booster, but still... Success! -
Parachute Failure, PLEASE HELP
-ELF- replied to justmeman117's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I haven't had a chance to test changes in 1.0.4, as I am having the issues with parachutes (they crash the game the second I pick them in the VAB), but anyway, entyering at 45 degrees seems to me that you must hit the ground without even going out of reentry effects... I am entering the atmosphere at about 5 degrees all the time, to bleed of speed before even going lower to atmosphere. Latest reentry from minmus was done with PE set to 35 km, took 5 passes to actually go suborbital and land, but landing was very smooth, 150 m/s at about 2 km over the surface. Like a charm. P.S. I am not doing precise landings anytime, it is too tedious. -

This happens to me on Linux Mint x86, distro from KSP store, not from Steam, launched via KSP.x86 directly from KSP folder.
