  1. I remember my first orbit, achieved back in 0.8 or 0.9. There was no orbital map, so the only way to attain orbit was to calculate the necessary velocity yourself or use someone else's reference sheet. There was no time-warp either, so when I thought I did it, I watched my rocket for about 30 minutes until I recognized a part of Kerbin I had seen before.
  2. Gotta agree on the diversity thing. The base I built back when 0.18 came out was similar in "style" to yours, but just has a little more... stuff.
  3. Indeed- the pictures came out much darker than the actual thing, though. Kind of ruined the album, but I think I got the procedure across.
  4. Might as well post my two here. My original thread was lost My Mun base, complete with launch pad+lander and rover dock (this was before powered wheels, so RCS power) Album detailing adding one piece: http://imgur.com/a/bho9y#0 Minmus base: Full construction album: http://imgur.com/a/nUCgt#0
  5. The difference is that the edited parts act as a design aid. Part of the problem is taking off from Eve and getting back to Kerbin. The OTHER (and significant) part of the problem is getting that lander to Eve. To simply cut that half of the mission out the equation by editing the persistence file makes the problem much less of a challenge.
  6. Just build a basic glider on top of a launch vehicle. When you de-orbit overshoot the location slightly to account for atmospheric drag, then glide towards the location.
  7. I've been able to get this thing well out of Kearth's atmosphere. Before I ended the mission, I think I hit 60km a short while after running out of fuel. The problem, of course, is orbit. I'll need to work on my piloting skills because right now, I can't seem to level out without the rocket flipping over
