4 Launches 1000t of equipment to LKO. 5 Rendezvous 8 Dockings Roche and all of the kerbonauts involved in the mission are now orbiting in LKO. No aerobrakings all stock not even dV calculation mods. http://imgur.com/a/NGiqG#0 -
The Kerban Max-Security Prison Challenge
m1xte replied to Synapse's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Eve doesn't work. They'll build an FTL-egg from scrap and escape. -
Connection between payload and lifter is the weak link. When stage is about to run out of fuel huge TWR of outer stage causes flexing in large rockets. Flexing causes rocket to start spinning and/or to veer out of course. Which causes need to steer the rocket back on course and all this happens at time of staging where huge TWR of the empty stage is about to turn to drag and dead mass. Kaboom! Add more struts. If 1/5 launches is success "efficiency" is pretty poor.

Aspargus rocket puts all stress to the central column, it is difficult to get enough control authority to aspargus rocket + lovely staging accidents. Something stupid that weights 200t Look mom no launch clamps . Look mom can i actually control my 2kt rocket http://imgur.com/a/0IxcP Don't let aspargus staging hold you back just because its "efficient". Move on people.
-
Engine cluster and aspargus rockets are "cheap tricks". Don't get addicted once the need to lift something stupid that weights 200t in to the orbit emerges. You can forget them both.

It is easier to pack crapload of dV and take it rendezvous style.

The MachingBird Challenge!
m1xte replied to TheHengeProphet's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Try polar orbit. My best runs usually comes when coming down from 75-90km apoapsis to 55km periapsis. Sweet spot seems to be around 55-60km running with only 1/3 throttle. (200+ intakes) Under 55km my craft starts losing speed. -
Here is mine. Fly carefully.

Whenever you see a H-beam outside at night shift and you look up to the stars and think we need to go there to survive. -
The MachingBird Challenge!
m1xte replied to TheHengeProphet's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
For the science. Exploitter 2344.craft (mechjeb removed) I dont mind if someone makes new record with this craft or its modification. It is for the science. edit... And skill Not to forget numerobis throttle code and pinalollo intake spamming. -
The Simple Heavy Lifting challenge.
m1xte replied to Ryu Gemini's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
The problem is that two jumbos and mainsail makes SSTO I see myself already strapping 166 mainsails, 332 jumbos and pod together. -

Anybody up for a little sub challenge? Make a kiloton launcher. Payload must be separated to stable orbit and it must be only a dummy weight (no engines, only full fueltanks, stuctural parts and a probe core) Mine is still working like an Random explosion generator. (aka. aspargus launcher) Needs more struts. http://i.imgur.com/gWBZJcP.jpg -

m1xte replied to Ryu Gemini's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I tested this. It gives nice and solid flight. Overloaded it suffers from lack of TWR. I suggest to add one mainsail in the middle column so the central stage burns with 5 mainsails. Add "overheat prevention fuel tanks" also to the aspargus section so there is no need to throttle down because of overheating. -

Ill present you the Extra hevi 281t to orbit -30% Launcher is more than 700 parts. Payload is 97 parts. +20% No jets +20% Spent stages deorbited 309 Points Boring nightside pictures for scoring http://imgur.com/a/nKUQ8 Try this with your aspargus launcher. http://imgur.com/a/0IxcP And the present that i promised. Artificial Gravity Challenge
m1xte replied to Sir.Mongoose's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Kerbal wheel of fortune . Bobbert is now a happy kerbal he was flinged to 85x145 orbit. Ludlie is not so happy with his 35x85 orbit. My zero G roller coaster cart got stuck in the U shape ring. I think i need to try V shape next. -

m1xte replied to Sir.Mongoose's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Bobbert why you look at me. You are kerbonaut you should be smart enough to understand that looking through that hole in 27G gravity is a bad idea. I almost had a moment of sympathy, but then it passed. -
Artificial Gravity Challenge
m1xte replied to Sir.Mongoose's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
gravitylab.craft I removed mechjeb so it is stock craft. Launch procedures. Dont use mechjeb autopilot it will work really long and hard to destroy the craft and will eventually succeed. I think with mechjeb 2 throttle control will help if you set it to limit to terminal velocity and to ~20m/s^2 acceleration. I launched in manual control. 1. Stage Just let it fly using only minimal controls when needed. You can start gravity turn at the end of this stage. This stage have more control authority than the next stage. Keep your spin at 0 2. Stage Gravity turn. Spin control gets harder. Limit your throttle as the TWR gets up. 3. Stage Careful not so stable starts wobbling easily. Get your apoapsis to about 80-90km. As soon as you enter space start circularising. Watch the wobble limit your throttle heavily. -
Artificial Gravity Challenge
m1xte replied to Sir.Mongoose's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Ok. I tested my ring with rcs rover but as soon as i switched craft the spin on my ring gradually stopped. Then i tried to drive around the ring to create centifugal force with the rower but it was too difficult because the beams in the middle of the ring keep bouncing me sidways. Driving around the ring knocked the rover out of the ring and the ring started its psychedelic wobble again out of nowhere. Hmmmm.... I think i need to build new U-shape ring where beams are not connected at the bottom. Then i'll put landing gears on the bottom and on the sides of my rower to keep the rower on the "track" and drive around the ring really fast. Buahahahahahhahaaaaa.. Flood will be extinguished, kraken will awake and i'll achieve FTL travel. -
Artificial Gravity Challenge
m1xte replied to Sir.Mongoose's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
More testing. I think maximum spin rate of craft is capped to one revolution per 2 seconds, because i could not get more. Even thou i had enough fuel. It didnt explode and get rid of flood in all galaxy. Nor did the thermometer installed in certain location in bop react. Only psychedelic wobbling. I heard that the rover wheels are bugged to break instantly if you are trying to drive in orbital construction. Maybe i should try old fashion rcs rover. -
Artificial Gravity Challenge
m1xte replied to Sir.Mongoose's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Held in one spot like fallen kerbal and camera view spinning around wildly. When i increased the rotation speed he flied through the ring and was flinged from 85x85 orbit in to 35x85 orbit. The ring is closed with struts. And build with symmetry. Every segment is turned one click (5 degrees). Different lenght of struts is used in the arm to make the arm exactly the right length to form a beautiful circle. If i see correctly from my own picture three long H-beams and three long girders connected to 2m landercan makes the right length arm for 8x symmetry and 1 click for every 2x2 structural panel. -

OK here goes. 22,3m I spinned it up to 5 revolutions per 9 secs so 0,555Hz http://www.calctool.org/CALC/phys/newtonian/centrifugal 27,6G Enough i think -
Very efficient and cheap rocket

I know what you mean. I thought ok now i build nice, small and efficient rocket and 6h later i have this. -
The MachingBird Challenge!
m1xte replied to TheHengeProphet's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
It shows on flight report if "someone on somecraft went EVA". So consistent flight report = no worries about cheating. I just tested "for the lulz" if one could just hop out and push the craft into stable orbit. Thanks to numerobis for his throttle code and for pinalollo for his intake spamming technique. 256 intake version made it to 2344m/s http://imgur.com/a/Orjqz I think this challenge needs only two categories Man and the machine category for pilots No mods, no staging and landing Engineer and robot category for builders Mechjeb, staging and no landing Otherwise awesome planes and piloting just get overrun by intake spamming. -
How did you spam the intakes like that?
