  1. Ehhh, I bought it when it came out, I loved and still love the concept, I even bought the expansion even though I was disappointed by how it turned out on initial launch. But I loath how the AI is handled, and how increasing difficulty is administered. See, in combat, there are scripts that are implemented if you do too good, for example if you've just hit your last three shots, all of a sudden their chances of hitting will be doubled many times over, and yours decreased many times, until you've taken fire in some form of damage, be that a cross map shot from a plasma pistol, or a hit when in full cover 15 tiles away from the enemy hitting you. A case in point is an old story where I was engaging one last alien, having just killed three to four of it's friends and taken no damage the script kicked in, I knew this and had prepared my assault soldier to run up into it's face and in that way override the script with a 100% chance to hit, so I ordered him up on his sides, one tile away from him, and to my horror I see the script is still active, by decreasing my chance from 100% to 99% chance to hit, so now I see an opportunity to experiment, so I save the game(*), and sure enough, with 99% chance to hit, he misses his shot, so now I load the save to see if it truly is the game engine or a script, and freaking a', as soon as it was loaded I had a 100% chance to hit because the script wasn't reactivated in the loading process. So that is way I have problems with the game, I freaking love the concept, the air battles being a little thin on content, but overall being awesome, if it wasn't for the damned scripts that replace AI with game altering features, i would love the game. There have also been some major reports of the AI clipping through walls when you can't see them, getting up on roofs and through walls, that sort of thing. Final notes: I don't hate the game, I love it, but it gets destroyed for me by the lazy ai design hidden behind scripts, and clipping bugs (*)This may be referred to as "save-whoring", but when the game has scripts like that to increase the difficulty trough laziness, instead of actually increasing the difficulty, by giving the AI new paths and new processes to run before choosing an action; then I don't give a damn, it is a sign of lazy AI programming to me and I'll be damned before I let it stand and just "deal with it".
  2. So today I was out with my dog for a walk, She is a little french bulldog and one hell of a friendly dog, loves humans more than dogs and will literally walk right past another dog to simply get to the human. Now, I love this dog with all of my heart, and unfortunately I had to learn the hard way that I had to be careful with her, and it ended up being her that had to pay the price with a dog bite in the lip. I learned that lesson to the full extend and I never, EVER, get close to another persons dog, leash or not, if it isn't absolutely controlled where I can intervene on my own accord, I will not get anywhere near that person. The same goes for humans, if I ever run into anyone I try to steer away as much as possible, simply because I don't want to end up in a situation where I don't know how they might react or something unexpected might happen, don't get me wrong, my dog wouldn't hurt any person or dog just because, even in a tense moment where the dogs may growl, I have never seen her initiate the stand off, and if she takes it up and starts to make a dominant stance I will pounce on her and correct her the instant it happens. But one thing is to try and be the best dog owner you can be, and then have these absolute morons that as soon as they see the dog will get down to it's level make contact inviting it over, making it hard for me to control my dog, and then be surprised when she jumps at them trying to get as close as she can. These, complete idiots, are what what sets me off. To have to deal with these completely socially incompetent pricks, is one of the biggest challenges I find when I go out. The fact alone that they would just walk by and then suddenly make contact with my dog, even to let their kids run straight at her with out a word is mind-boggling to me, the ideology of "dog owners are the ones that have to take responsibility when it comes to their dogs" is one of the biggest fallacies I've heard my entire life! How the heck am I supposed to have any control when people left and right are making contact to my dog with out even the slightest hinting at a permission from me? How am I supposed to take responsibility for my dog when I'm not even allowed to have control over the situation?! Look, I'm not the freaking dog whisperer, I have made and still make huge mistakes, two months back i was running with her without a leash and it nearly ended in yet another mistake that she had to pay for because I was an complete and utter fool. But, Come. On. How can dog owners be expected to be any good when the norm in society is to treat dogs like human beings and make contact without any talking to the owner? This turned into a huge rant, and I'm sorry, I just had to get this of my chest, today was just one too many..
  3. So for some time now there has been a TV show running in my country called "Crazy about dance" or however you want to translate it. I don't care about it, its just some show alike to x-factor or something like that; where celebrities dance with each other or something, I don't even know the premise. But see here, this was a new season where they invited an old football player (again, I don't care, but a huge part of my country does). See, my country seems to be somewhat of a football nation (soccer, or whatever.), so when it was announced that this guy was going to be in the next season everyone was jizzing their pants in excitement. Now, the show is based a lot on SMS votes, it can even overturn the judges's scores by a mile, so naturally the guy steamrolled the competition to the dismay of the regular watchers, since apparently he is extremely bad at dancing. So last Friday (I think) he was finally sent out of the competition, which many expect was at the hands of the editors. And now half the nation is in a rage over this, posting and spamming every single crevice with their disapproval of this happening. Meanwhile the regular watchers are in celebration and are all screaming about how good it is he was sent out of the show. So to sum it up the nation somehow got into a genuine storm over some god damn TV show about dancing. In all truth it was all so, so, SO predictable, the show only invited the guy because they knew it would attract a lot of new viewers, hence more money, that much is obvious. And now that the whole thing has spiraled out of control they are trying to initiate damage control so the cash cow isn't killed by the football fans that wont watch a new season if some football icon isn't involved, that has since led to more chaos with even a police report being filled against TV-network. Its almost too good to be true, but eh, I'm just sitting on the sidelines enjoying the bonfire. Now a more concrete reason for a thread, is the question; What kind animosity is it going to take to get in to a fit over a freaking TV-show that will be milked to eternity any way, and on the other side then get in to a fit when a simple joke is killed? I don't know, I just wanted to share some funnies, have a good evening, morning, or what ever timezone you are in.
  4. Granted, but oh no! your enemies where not so thoughtful, the planet has been deprived of most of it's resources. The lands are unfruitful from the pollution, the mountains are drilled out for their metals, and the gasses are used up by the machines of war. I wish for Humanity to enter a golden age of tolerance and diversity of thought.
  5. Oh hey, that is pretty cool. A lot of space games on the rise lately.
  6. shoot out around a space station worth billions with army trainees or astronauts who for some reason have guns. à ² _à ² à ² _à ² à ² _à ² à ² _à ² à ² _à ² à ² _à ² Activision pls
  7. Banned for killing threads, huehuehuehue.
  8. Oh hey, another fan thread that will probably be shot down in the next few days. But yeah, warhammer is pretty cool in general, but the 40K universe set in a dystopian future is pretty goddamn cool in itself not taking in account it being from the warhammer franchise. All in all zealous super mutants bent on purging the universe of any kind of quote on quote "heresy", is going to insure it's fare share of humorous events.
  9. Already has an old thread that died, but eh, why not, taking a major break after I got my first jet and it barely even made it off the ground. The game has the biggest potential of all time when it comes to a wide variety filled game set in world war 2, but man does it still have flaws.
  10. Yep, not playing this- thing, that they've decided to release for at least half a year or so, just going to download Roma Surrectum for Rome 1 instead, it's probably going to be a much better experience not only battle vise, but also in vise to the game layout in general. the only thing I regret is that I now have to look at this thing on my steam account as it just lays there oozing it's foul stench. Biggest let down I've had in a long time.
  11. it seems this what somewhat of a failure, people still talked about other people in the negative sense, and that wasn't the purpose of the thread. I'm going to request a lock now, maybe it wasn't a good idea in the first place, talking negative about things is only going to create more negativity. Anyways, it was fun while it lasted, stay positive.
  12. To add on to what satcharna said about the little indicator in arcade; it isn't always accurate, try aiming around it when your shots don't hit.
  13. As in all social circles there are also norms on the internet, and sometimes, those norms are the most annoying, down-right idiotic things we see, and we are all going to complain like our asses where on fire about them right here. So, let's get some things straight before we go: 1.) Defending a norm Everyone is different, some people are likely to dislike what you use on a daily-basis, don't get offended and take it personal, don't respond to them defending what ever it might be they are talking about (it's a thing on the internet; it doesn't deserve the energy from someone defending it.) These are people with their own opinion and they should have the right to have said opinions. Plus, they are only humans corresponding across the internet, you shouldn't even care in the first place. 2.) Groups and people in general Groups and people are not norms, that means groups like bronies, and people like children on the internet, Are NOT to receive ANY sort of hate on this thread what-so-ever! If I spot any sort of hate on this thread I will immediately ask a moderator to lock this thread, I ask anyone who sees any bashing of groups or people to do the same thing! Come on, these are the kerbal space program forums, we ought to be mature enough to not bash another group of people. 3.) In case the thread gets locked. I don't even know if this thread is going to be allowed to exist, it treads a fine line between being hate and simple expression of opinion, I wouldn't be surprised if it was to get locked now or later because the moderators deemed it to be a bad thread. This is their domain, they do not answer to us, they simply moderate. If the thread grows big and is then suddenly locked do not cause an up-roar, it honestly isn't worth it. That is all, on a last note, this is supposed to be a thread where we just let our hearts out when it comes to norms on the internet, please, do not let this turn into a cockfight, we all see things differently, we a bound to have our differences, and as ironic as this request is, I still request that we tolerate each others opinions, please. That is all that, spill your opinions to your hearts content (if the thread survives any way) and lift what little weight it might have on your chest.
