Blazing Aerospace: Copenhagen Suborbitals Version 0.2

This is amazing, Go CS! Go Sapphire! -
[WIP]United Launch Alliance Pack *V1.0RC1 Released*
Zaran replied to Chimer4's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Exactly, using crossfeed would make the rocket really overpowered for a replica pack. Nothing stopping someone from adding crossfeed on their own obviously but I am trying to think of ways to make the rocket work as it would IRL within the confines of KSP. -
[WIP]United Launch Alliance Pack *V1.0RC1 Released*
Zaran replied to Chimer4's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Agreed, I am just trying to get a feel for the performance needs of the rocket at the moment, heck KSP is rather hard to balance for. In the 13mass to 100km config if you fly it in a different launch profile with some careful throttle use it can just loft 20mass to 100km x 82km orbit. Will be more able to work more on details once the SRB's are ready and the 4m CSS is ready to fly as well. As for the Delta IV heavy, as the way it works IRL cannot be replicated in KSP (center engine runs throttled down with boosters on 100%) I am going to suggest creating a different part for the strap on boosters. The dedicated boosters should be short-fueled so they can be deposited off before the main core needs to be ditched. -
[WIP]United Launch Alliance Pack *V1.0RC1 Released*
Zaran replied to Chimer4's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Right so I am working on getting the Delta IV CCB and CSS balanced at the moment. On another forum I made this chart of ULA rockets, do you guys want to be balanced for IRL mass to LEO? It's hard to balance for GTO/GSO I find due to the downscale of Kerbin compared to Earth. I currently have the Delta IV, CCB+CSS taking 13mass (well 12.7 and some spare, the 5,4 config stats) to 100km Kerbin orbit. Will readjust when the strap on solids are sent to me. -
[WIP]United Launch Alliance Pack *V1.0RC1 Released*
Zaran replied to Chimer4's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Sent you a PM Blazing, Chimer4 do you need any more testers? I got some IRL downtime atm so I figure I can help with testing some mods. (I happen to be obsessive about detail too, so there is that...) -
Grasshopper v1 flew last night, over 60 seconds flight time and over 300m altitude at the McGreggor test site.

[0.25] Lionhead Aerospace Inc. - Icarus v0.4 updated
Zaran replied to Yogui87's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Something I noticed, the 0.3 packs folder name is different from the original. It doesn't have the underscores like I think it needs, could be causing the parts to not show up for people. -
If you listen to the guys talking at the end they say "It fell apart" and "Everything here is ****". This was meant to be a 3 minute test and on the previous test (also aborted) they had to repair the combustion chamber of one of the engines. All the sources for this is behind the paywall that is L2 on NSF so I cant really link it. They are making progress, just a little slower than they would like.

Well they got 112 seconds into this test before it aborted. Looks like something melted this time.

[WIP]United Launch Alliance Pack *V1.0RC1 Released*
Zaran replied to Chimer4's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
In real life they do not turn on the engine until the nozzle is extended so really only needs one thrustTransform. -
[WIP]United Launch Alliance Pack *V1.0RC1 Released*
Zaran replied to Chimer4's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Are your upper stages for the Delta 4 going to have the in-flight extending nozzles like the real life upper stages do? Just a little detail but would be cool to have. -
[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Zaran replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Not true! Dragon CRS-2 was berthed by ground controllers with no intervention by the crew. -

I got it to work flying it manually, just had to keep the throttle down to about 60-70% and did my gravity turn at about 34km up. This was on the Soyuz rocket too, running the rocket at full throttle once you get over 7-10km just doesn't work. -
[0.25] Lionhead Aerospace Inc. - Icarus v0.4 updated
Zaran replied to Yogui87's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The ATV itself is far too light, ATV-4 going up in a few days weighs in at 20,325 KG, just shy of the Ariane 5's payload to LEO cap of about 21,000 KG -

Oh yeah, something I noticed was the Klipper parts were missing the scale = 1 fix in their config files. -
*Redundant Thread - Do Not Use* KW Rocketry Update
Zaran replied to lpam's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The original mod page on Spaceport was just updated by the original author. http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/0-18-1-kw-rocketry-overhauled/ -
I am going to wait and see what the Dragon reveal shows us later this year, no point rushing work when it could be totally different.

[0.22.X] BobCat ind. Historical spacecraft thread
Zaran replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
What I have noticed is that in 0.20 the Mir docking ports are more "bouncy" than before. Before the magnets would draw my Soyuz in and instantly dock it, now it draws it in and the Soyuz bounces off the port then sometimes docks and other times does not. Almost as if the collision for the port is slightly off in the 0.20 pack? -
International construction ISS in Kerbal orbit.
Zaran replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
About 3 hours ago. Check Spaceport. -
I made a video of the Falcon 1 using only the camera angles that the SpaceX Falcon 1 had access too (besides a little cut away during the time warp section), I think it turned out alright.

Use the updated Romfarer plugin from his thread and delete the one in the Plugins folder. -
International construction ISS in Kerbal orbit.
Zaran replied to BobCat's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Reaction wheels, ISS has four of them and they keep the stations orientation pointing "forward" they also allow the station to spin on the Truss like an Axis so leaving russian spacecraft have an easier time departing ISS. (Flying straight back instead of up then back.) -
I have a backup of Elon Kerb if you want to pop it back in the OP.

I did this once, was good fun in the end. My holiday next year is probably going to be to Florida, in early August. Oh look a Falcon 9 launch is planned that has no impact at all on were I said I wanted to go when my missus asked what holiday we should do... (Its Dragon CRS-6 )

Glad to see the thread back up and running!
