So far as struts and alignment of stuff goes, even if I'm just messing around I still care but not as much as when it's something I'll show to other people. Then I try and get it perfect because I want everything to look professional and not thrown together.

I haven't used Steam so dunno exactly but I'd guestimate right around 200hrs over the year an 3mo that I've been playing.

Show off your Kethane Mining Designs!!
Mazlem replied to Amphiprion's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I finished off the Kerbal Munsion base a few months back, which has a Kethane mining camp. Made a video series about it. (Actual mining starts at ep3) The miner isn't huge but works well enough. Time-warp helps when filling up the tanks. There's a conversion shop where the tanker truck comes to drop off the Kethane. Once it's converted into fuel and put in that tanker, the truck hauls it back to base. The game made a Macke Kerman, so I had to bring him there to drive the truck. -
It's like legos. Some people like just a box of parts to play with, and others prefer the kits that give you something specific to build. I've played sandbox since .18 and just started another save for career a few weeks ago. The game play is a lot different early on, but once you get parts unlocked that'll let you do longer / more intricate missions, it's similar to sandbox. Except you can still create missions for yourself for science - in career you actually get the science and that's the reward, but in sandbox it's finishing the mission that's the reward. So I think they're both fun, just in different ways.

Indeed. 'OCD' has become a catch-all way to describe what's actually neatness / perfectionism but it still carries the negative vibe. If a mechanic is doing an alignment on your car, do you want him to be a perfectionist or somebody with OCD? True OCD would mean him checking it three times because he feels compelled to, even if he was spot-on the first time. That means you get the same level of work as the perfectionist but have to wait three times as long for it.

Very cool Pantner! I just finished uploading part 2 of the Kerbal's little asteroid wrangling mini-series. Things go well even after the explosion.
-
I finally got done cutting, compressing and annotating the first episode of an asteroid redirect mission. The whole mission is complete, so I get to head right into editing part two. Documenting the kerbal's work is exhausting!

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!
Mazlem replied to Mastodon's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It probably needs some more testing to call it good, but my ship-exploding issue may be fixed. After de-orbiting everything I had attached to the asteroid, I sent up a revised ship, then sent up the refueling ship. Both worked fine and I was able to work on adjusting the asteroid's orbit some more. -

Nope they're all standard struts. Apparently it's not just a problem with this ship: Tonight I deleted the whole command pod / RCS tank / ASAS section and built it new - That worked great for three launches, but on the 4th it blew up during time-warp. So I launched a completely different ship, and it did the same thing. Then I went to a ship that was orbiting the Mun, and it also blew up during time-warp. I've got a hunch that either the asteroid itself or the ship / parts attached to it have something to do with this, so I'm in the process of de-orbiting all that stuff except the asteroid. -

Doesn't seem to matter. A few times I successfully time warped while getting into orbit and docked / refueled a ship that's connected with an asteroid. But then on two missions, after it was done I moved the refueler away and set it to de-orbit; the second I turned on time warp, the refueler ship blew up. I haven't launched any other ships lately, but I have been using time warp while adjusting the asteroid's orbit with no explodifying. -

I've used this refueler over a dozen times since .23.5 came out. Now a couple times after sending it up to the asteroid I'm working on, it blows up during time warp. Still does it even after restarting the game. Did I bring the Kraken's trojan horse home? -
I've spent the last two weeks wrestling off an on with an E-class, getting it into orbit using a couple different pusher designs. Now I'm working on putting it in an equatorial orbit. A pusher design with small torque arms (little arms with SAS / RCS) on each side didn't help any. I finally set up a puller design and that's working much much better; another thread about working with class D/E's showed using a long arm on your ship, with the claw at the end and the pivot freed while thrusting, along with engines set to pull. A couple times when I sent a refueling ship up there, even though it wasn't docked, the ship / asteroid did some pretty weird stuff: -One time the asteroid puller ship and torque arms were responding directly to my inputs while I was moving the refueling ship. -Another time the asteroid / ship parts started wobbling and turning on their own, while I was controlling the refueling ship nearby. -Three times the asteroid puller ship has spontaneously exploded; the last time while controlling the refueler - it had moved away and was set to de-orbit; the second I turned on time warp, that ship and the asteroid puller blew up. That weird behavior is really making me re-think setting up a fuel station on the asteroid, at least until the devs can get this stuff with the larger asteroids figured out.

Right now I'm just under year 76 with 30 flights (same save since .18): At Kerbin there's a satellite fuel station (Mad Max II) space station (KSS Sprawling) At the Mun there's space station Munsion Junction (the oldest one, at 69yrs) the Mun base Kerbal Munsion a Kethane mining base (needs a name) At Duna they have the space station Dustbin Station a little camp on the ground called Dustland Base At Jool is Farpoint Station buggies / rovers on Lathe and Vall And right now I've got a 'light' 1031T class-E asteroid in Kerbin orbit, still adjusting it to be equatorial. First idea is to bring it in nice an close and turn it into a fuel depot to replace Mad Max II.

I've got a channel with pretty much all KSP vids. Actually there was a thread a while back to support people's channels. Aughta give that a bump. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/55431-We-need-viewers!

I told them it's ok cause I'm using OSHA-approved rockets.

Have you tried resetting the bios back to defaults? Not re-flashing / re-upgrading, but resetting - through a jumper on the motherboard or pulling the little battery for 30s (while the computer is unplugged).

Put A Bus In Orbit Around Kerbin
Mazlem replied to The Jedi Master's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Not quite a Falcon9 style but I threw a bus up up there anyhow. -
The MachingBird Challenge!
Mazlem replied to TheHengeProphet's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Here's my entry for the stock manned True Maching Bird club. I got Bonneville up to 2338m/s on it's return run, coming back into the atmosphere. -
Post your planes of any type here! [.23]
Mazlem replied to burnoutforzai's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Earlier this week I made a straight turbo-jet plane, added a little RCS an got the thing into orbit. Mach 5 Making an orbit: -
I was fiddling around with a jet plane I'd made a while back. After adding some RCS and removing fuel from the front tanks, it made an orbit! The first orbital test involved having a kerbal get out and push at AP, but the OSHA guys nixed that for production. Craft file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tggsdqpjjfxujek/SpacePlaneSSTO.craft

When I first tried docking in .18 my issues were: I had no idea how maneuver nodes / intercepts worked. Once I figured out the basics of that and was able to get close a time or two... I still had no real idea how to use the nav ball when docking. But the first couple times I managed to get close... I had badly placed RCS thrusters. Combine that with the old ham-fisted SAS, no knowledge of the IJKL / HN keys or how to properly orient the ship and camera so I know which way is up and... It was impossible. Being so close to the other ship and knowing it could be done, but also knowing I didn't have the knowledge / experience to make it happen, was incredibly frustrating. I literally felt like I could have an aneurism at one point. After deciding I'd prefer my brain intact, I quit trying and looked up all the information I could find on maneuver nodes and docking and RCS, and watched several videos about it. I even kept some of that stuff open in the background when trying to dock again. After creeping in at .2m/s and making little adjustments every five seconds, I FINALLY docked and it was such a huge relief to know it wasn't impossible for me after all. Not long after that I decided to make a station and docked some parts together to form that. Then came a big fuel station and to keep it and other ships full, the station had to be filled up nearly every time KSP was fired up. That's when docking became somewhat routine and I got comfortable with moving ships around and not just lining things up straight from farther away. I'm sure my blood pressure was much better at that point.

When do you start your gravity turn
Mazlem replied to PetahSchwetah's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I start right around 10k, and lately I've been only pitching over to ~65*, then 45* at about 15k an go full throttle. -
I started in 0.18 and am still using my original save! (yes I've upgraded to .23)

If it's running Windows, right-click on 'Computer' and open Properties. That'll tell you the CPU and memory.
