[1.1] RemoteTech v1.6.10 [2016-04-12]
SkipSpikowski replied to Peppie23's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
So just to clarify: if I have a sat at Duna and it points to Kerbin and one at Kerbin that points at Duna, then they will connect, correct? -

Yeah, how in the list you see Kerbin, Duna, etc... -

Question: When and why would I ever use the SOI targeting? I'm not really sure how this works, so can someone point me in the right direction? -

SkipSpikowski replied to Peppie23's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I figured it was something I was doing, but didn't know what because inside the Kerbin SOI I can just target the Mun or Minmus and have the Sats around the moons target Kerbin and it works. But I see what you're saying. I need to actually target the probe and the proble needs to target the relay station. -

I'm having an issue with an interplanetary probe. When it leaves the SOI of Kerbin I lose coms with it. Here's how I have my network configured: Probe (Untitled Space Craft <- because I forgot to change the name):Kr-14 targeting Kerbin Relay Station in Geostat: targets Mission Control with a DTS and KR-14's targetting Duna and Sun. I assume I am doing something wrong but I'm not sure what. -
I made this back in .21. It will put an Orange tanks into orbit with a 3 man crew, dock, and return under power. It has an absolutely insane action group profile and it handles like a sinking ship, but it works. http://imgur.com/a/7RHwi You wanna put something big into orbit, do it with style.

Are you using B9? If so, then you should equip air brakes.

This is pretty cool. I have been messing around with it for awhile and really like it. Question: if a resource is not available in the atmosphere, say ammonia, and I set up a scoop to try an capture some, will the module simply not give me the option or will it just chug away pulling in nothing? I ask because I tried it and the option just disappeared when I set it to ammonia while sitting on the launchpad at Kerbin.

does anybody use stage speration rockets?
SkipSpikowski replied to chaoko99's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I use them on my space shuttles because having 8 tons of SRB hit your wing is a bad thing. -
[1.1.x] Space Shuttle Engines (2016-07-03)

Is there a way to lesson the responsiveness of the gimbal on the engines? I tend to get an extreme pitch sometimes when making maneuvers. -
Show off your awesome KSP pictures!

I have a shuttle too... and an arm. -

SkipSpikowski replied to sarbian's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
They don't seem to be much wider or longer, but they do have the appropriate mass, which in the end is what counts. It's more of a criticism of the aesthetic than the function. Again, I love the engines as a shuttle connoisseur. -

First, love this mod... Second, it seems to me that the tanks have a little too much fuel for their size. The 3.25 midfuel tank has more than double the rockomax and it isn't that much larger. -
I use several mods, but I always pull out the parts I don't want to keep the part number down. In Nova, I only use the struts and KW I only use the SRB's. I think B9, Kethane, and KAS are the only mods where I use all the parts. The robotics packs are pretty amazing too as you can build arms. I have basically built a space station with shuttles and the arm on the station. Mods and plugins make this game a whole lot better.

More bang for your buck - What would you like next for KSP?
SkipSpikowski replied to Kerbonautical's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm pretty sure we'll need biomes to be completed before we can get resources, it only makes sense. economy>biomes>aerodynamics>better plane parts>resources -
.22 playtesting being waylaid by mods?
SkipSpikowski replied to jpkerman's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I don't think the tech tree will get extra hard, but if it is a tutorial for new players and then they add money to said tutorial, it will then mean that you may not be able to do the same thing you have done. Plus, then they might add mission control and whole other sets of nonsense that will make the tutorial even more expansive. Once it is done, I imagine it will be incredibly simple like all tutorials - you know, Press A to move to the left - This is a rocket, it makes your ship go up. I also doubt that this will even be the tutorial in the end. -
For some reason I do, but I think it is just for the aesthetics.

Space Stations not worth anything in .22
SkipSpikowski replied to Lohan2008's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I like #2 as you could make it modular and as you unlock more modules for it you would have to send more and more up to get more and more science. It would provide a reason to build shuttles and other launch vehicles. -

Can you set science experiments to use power? If so, that would make for some interesting options. -
I don't think I have ever used the 2.5 blue parachute, only the drogue. I can't see any reason to use that blue one.
-
I sometimes use those pieces of junk for shuttles, rarely though. I never use that big explosive radial decoupler. It just doesn't fit for anything.
