  1. Had a couple of milestones over the weekend.... got really comfortable doing eva in the vastness of space. Before it was not uncommon to take a Kerb out and screw up so bad that the ship is receding away VERY quickly. After a crash landing on Mun with the only thing surviving is the pod, with Jeb inside... I managed to land a rescue ship 5k from the crash site, walked Jeb to the ship and brought him home. First successful rescue. First landing of a probe on Duna, though it hit the ground hard enough to tip over... but I was able to collect and transmit science... so a successful mission! And finally figured out how to rendezvous consistently. Done it before but it was usualy a hit or miss.
  2. Running out of fuel about 2000 meters out and slamming into the ground at speeds excess of 150 m/s. Fun times!
  3. "Calculating Ultimate Answer" "Adding more boosters" "Reaching a safe distance" ...truer words never been spoken
  4. Good deal! Now you'll never leave the game!
  5. Simple enough... always been a fan of space exploration.
  6. I was the same way. Have a very low end laptop and swore to not download mods to "keep it efficient." Now usually play with between 6-12 mods.
  7. My last update had a manned rescued ship on its way to Mun to rescue a 3 manned crew after they stupidly tried to land on the side of a large crater... The rescuer didn't fare any better... he didn't kill enough of his horizontal velocity and tipped his ship over and it split into several pieces. Sent an probe core with a hitchhiker can to pick up the now 4 trapped explorers... and promptly tried to land on the side of yet another large crater... Frustrated... I left the four explorers to play "I spy" and sent two probes to Moho and Dres... I successfully put the Moho probe into orbit and the Dres prob is en route to its destination....
  8. I use FE over MJ as I still like to do all my launches and burns.... even many dozens of times later. Each to their own. I don't see either as cheating as its single player. Play as you want.
  9. Didn't pay attention to the ground as well as I should have... and tried to land on the edge of a crater on mun..... let's just say there's a rescue ship on the way to pick up the stranded explorers...
  10. Just need to figure out which of those mods has the torus wheel. It's exactly what I'm looking for, I'm planning on building my version of NASA's concept vehicle Nautilus-X. Keep up the good work on the series.
  11. Got my 1st 3 man crew on its way to Mun for yet more science. The transfer has a periapsis of 35,000. A personal best! :-) Also began researching a design based on a current NASA concept vehicle, Nautilus-X. Think it'll be fun to build and send off to another planet.
  12. Had my first successful manned Duna orbit and return to Kerbin. Had such an excess amount of fuel that if I had timed it right on my return I could have landed on Kerbin without deploying my chutes. As such, I ended up needing to deploy the chutes at around 1700 meters. Good feelings all around!
  13. Currently resting in the astronaut complex. Well deserved after a science expedition to the mun.
  14. I have two saves... Micro Engineering Research Corporation Goods and Transportation Space Agency My two kids have their own... National Interstellar Spot National Astronautics Studies
  15. This was a very enjoyable read for me. Looking forward to seeing what happens next!
  16. Just yesterday.. I had Bob on an EVA on Mun. Using his jet pack to fly across farside crater at high speed and he smacked HARD into a hill...pulverized instantly. And I just laughed and laughed till I cried.
  17. Congrats! It does get easier each time you do it. If you go a while between docking, you do lose a tiny bit of skill, but quickly regain it after a few near misses
  18. I'm willing to bet the planets will "disappear" once career mode is up and running.
  19. I have only so far built weak stations around kerbin, thrown tons of sats up into kerbin orbit and landed on mun. Still plenty out there for me to do. Don't get even close to the amount of time that I want to play this thing. Barely touched the Space Hanger or planes either. Perhaps the ASAS/SAS update will make me want to fly planes more.
  20. Scott and pebblegarden's vids I credit with helping me learn how to dock. Still not sure how I now manage to dock on a regular basis though!
  21. This was a fun read for me. Can't wait to see what follows...
  22. Someone help me. I see the MC icon at the bottom of the screen, but I don't see any missions to select when I click on the icon. I also added the mission packs made by malkuth and don't see those as well. These are not my first mod/add-on install. Dragged everything into the GameDate folder. Any ideas? Edit: Never mind... the window was too low, once I moved it up, I was able to select missions.
  23. Man, if I tried to built that, my computer would just laugh at me and shut down....
  24. My 4 yr old, then midrange, laptop keeps me from going big. Thus my company name is MicroEnginerring Space Innovations (M.E.S.I) It really gets the creativity juices flowing.
