It's a pain to snap for example, 2 of those long rectangular, structural beam pieces parallel to eachother because they only have snap points on their ends. They should have some radially on the ends so you can make a box and radially in the middle so you can attach other beams perpendicularly. Simply turning off clipping isn't that effective because you can't get them lined up nicely and in the same spot consistently.

What are some must-have mods you came across?

Ya MechJeb is great. I never tried any of the autopilot functions, I've only used it for information. -
Anyone know how to use KAS and Modular Multiwheels mod?
Stealth2668 replied to Stealth2668's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Since I'm a moron, I realized there are wheels that are "powered" and others that are not. They don't need any resources to run either. Here's my lift truck I built. Also thanks for the info M5000 -
Can someone tell me how to build one of these trucks?
Stealth2668 replied to Stealth2668's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It is actually. I'm just having trouble putting it together but I'm gonna try the trick mentioned above when I have time to see if that helps. -
Pretty much have lower grades

oooooooohhhhhh fail. So once that's disabled, I can snap pieces in angles and it will know it's "connected"? -
Creating a backup before modding question.
Stealth2668 replied to Stealth2668's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I just copied the whole KSP folder and saved it to a new spot. That way I can just delete the whole modded KSP folder and copy the vanilla one back in my steam folder where it should be (should work right?). I should have kept the modded folders as mentioned above but I moved the files rather than copied them. Will keep them in the future. -
I made a thread on the video below and downloaded the mods used in it. I'm now wondering how to build the truck shown at the beginning. I'm trying to connect structural parts together but since the connection points are only on the ends, it seems like it's impossible to even make a simple square or 90 degree angle. Can someone post a screen shot on how to connect structural pieces with 90 degree angles and such. Or just how to start building something like the truck in the video by starting the base framework he used?

Ahh, this will be very usefull for things like adding a rover to a ship, rather than having to rebuild either the ship or rover. -
I came across this video (not my video) with "Modular Multiwheels" and "K.A.S" (rope lifting system) I believe KAS includes the refuelling system shown at 9:35 This is probably widely known however I didn't know about so maybe noobs alike will now know about it. What are some other mods that you came across that add more parts/functionality? (Besides Kethane)

Creating a backup before modding question.

Ok. Also an unrelated noob question; What does EVA and IVA stand for? -
I want to install a bunch of mods (parts) but also wanna keep a vanilla version as a backup. Do I just copy the vanilla ksp folder somewhere so I can replace the modded one later? I ask because if it gets out dated, will it just stop working and be useless, leaving me with only a modded game? (unless I pick through the modded version and remove mods). Alternatively, is it possible to create a "mod" folder in the parts folder for example, and put mods in there, or will ksp be unable to "read" that stuff since it's in a folder? I'd prefer just making sub folders if possible.

Ya, any threads made after october will be gone.

This is why I pretty much wanted it. Just for info and node placing. Getting it to do everything for you defeats the point of the game.
-
I have the same problem with command modules too. Very annoying.
-
Do you have to re-download it everytime or is there some sort of updater? (Not that it's hard to install)
-
^ idk. Last time I looked for it was a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't on the site, only the old version.
-
The link above works. I didn't test the functionality of it but the interface is the newer version so it must be it. I guess it's still in beta but it should still be easier to find.
-
They will probably have to create a "casual" mode so that CoD players can play this game too. This would boost sales and Squad would have more money to spend on adding to the game. This could be benificial for everyone.
-
Thanks. Wonder why it's so hard to find. I've seen other comments on people not being able to find it.
-
Is anyone actually using it? I've seen videos on youtube about it but there isn't anywhere to download it. What gives?
-
Yes but the elders are wise and experienced. I think the easiest thing to do is gang up on the newcomers xD
