KSP 0.90 'Beta Than Ever' Grand Discussion Thread!
xub313 replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The Mk3 doesn't have an IVA yet as confirmed by Maxmaps. Understandably, internals take more effort to make and are less important than adding the parts themselves. -

It's in there. look for the SCENARIO node with name = ScenarioUpgradableBuildings -
KSP 0.90 'Beta Than Ever' Grand Discussion Thread!
xub313 replied to KasperVld's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Man, career just got even better. Hard mode is even more challenging with the upgradable buildings. 1,000,000 funds just to upgrade the tier 1 R&D. I love it! -
Set isOneShot = true in the part.cfg. You can still extend/retract with the right click menu, but it won't auto deploy when you transmit.

Ever since the engine shrouds were introduced in 0.18, I've had an idea for a mod that could let you switch them around. Well I finally took the time and effort to learn C# so I could make it myself. It's nowhere near complete but this is the first fruit of my project. Eventually it'll be able to swap with however many shrouds you want. I only made two for testing.
-
If you bought it before the steam version was available you'll be able to switch. Log in to the KSP store then go to My Account. There should be a transfer option right next to the download button.

Ions certainly aren't limited by small payloads: While the burns were longer than your standard chemical rocket, they were quite reasonable in my opinion. The biggest downside is the lack of larger xenon tanks, and thus a high part count.
-
I redirected a class A asteroid with only ion engines. Unfortunately some solar panels broke during construction. It only used 1/3 its fuel supply. It's actually quite practical. The burn times weren't too bad even with the broken solar panels. I think I might use a fleet of ion tugs to supply my Eve station.
-
I did some tests on the viability of large scale ion propulsion. I wasn't expecting it to be practical at all but it worked surprisingly well. The goal was to leave Kerbin's SOI and retrieve a satellite in Kerbolar oribt. The solar panel wings need work and it needs better attitude control. Unfortunately I got a null ref and had to terminate the flight . I'll build an upscaled version for class A asteroids soon.

I love it! The team did an awesome job basing the buildings on "Kerbal lifestyle".

Here's an unmanned ssto I made today. I'll be using this to complete satellite contracts for fine print. I hope to make a crew transport variant to service my space station. I need to take a bunch home at once.
-
Considering that almost every ssto I've built has been a failure, I'm super glad that this one was capable.

Instead of using different models for the different pairs of fairing lengths you could try putting it all in one model and changing the config for each part. For example, you could have a model with 8 different fairing lengths. For the 6 you don't want to use set the x value of the fairing node to an arbitrarily high value (so it will be outside the editor). That way anyone can customize the fairing lengths they want by just editing the node positions (and edit the decoupler nodes) in the config. That way you would only need three models for the fairings and the lite version and full version would be practically the same thing. Hopefully this isn't too much work .

I made a cool looking plane with the spaceplane+ parts. I also made a variant with RAPIERs instead of turbo jets that just about makes orbit.
-
Construction continues on my Eve station. I've got 1.6 million funds so I gotta spend it on something. This will be one of two stations I'm planning for Eve.
-
I've been lucky. I've had a couple big rockets fail close to the launch pad but they always miraculously miss anything important.

What Are You Planning/Hoping To Do In KSP In The Near Future?
xub313 replied to michaelsteele3's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I want to build up some Eve space stations for exploring the inner Kerbol system. I've already sent my station core to Eve but I'll need several more launches before It becomes functional. -
Ah, I forgot to mention that bug. I thought it would be fixed by reversing this and adding extra resources but It seems like you already tried that. I'll be doing some testing today to see if I can work around it. I'd be willing to live with it though.
-
I sent a probe into Jool's atmosphere. I'm using the antenna range mod so I had to send another probe with a comunitron 88 to fly just above it so I could send the data to Kerbin. I also started my Eve station.

I had an Idea to lower the part clutter in the editor. Perhaps you could put all three fairings with the same base into one part. I made a quick demonstration. I tested it and everything works fine in game. I would have made it sooner but Unity hates me today for some reason. I don't mind the part clutter but this seems like an elegant way to do things. I just wanted to put my idea out there.

Man, I wish I kept my screenshots and stuff from 0.17. My biggest achievement was getting Jeb Bill and Bob to Eve without any tutorials (or maneuver nodes "gasp"). I had some really weird rockets that used radially attached drop tanks instead of dropping boosters. And aerospikes were super OP, I strapped them on everything.

Moho probe landing! The surface is quite boring however; there are a few interesting places (like the poles) but everything else is completely flat. I still think it looks cool from orbit though.
