  1. So, I've been running into this frustration myself as I follow the thread along. A 3-kerbal capsule with 10,000 units of N2 is only good for 4 days. Out of curiosity, since I know there's some pretty real-world math here, how much N2 did Apollo carry, for comparison?
  2. This. It can also be incredibly helpful (despite the unhygienic metaphor) to con cajole convince someone to respect to lob spitballs at you. If nothing else, you'll be entertained. Possibly damp. Also worth noting here that sometimes the greatest courtesy you can do a person is telling them what they don't exactly want to hear.
  3. It would seem someone around here is packing the band of all thread lockers... ...a big S acetylene torch.
  4. I think the era of nation-states spending significant chunks of their GDP on space programs because politics has come to an end. We are now in the era of billionaires spending significant chunks of their own wealth on space programs because AWESOME!. Hopefully this will last long enough to bridge the gap to ordinary people spending ordinary sums to finance space programs, because ________(?). I really believe if they can just make it cheap it enough, other people will suddenly find reasons to go there.* *I have zero empirical evidence to actually support this.
  5. Yeah, I live on an island. Pay the ferryman tree fiddy to take me ashore when he's not busy schlepping dead people and epic heroes back & forth.
  6. Aw, c'mon, now. SpaceX may have a little trouble with dates but their ability to hit what they want to hit is second to none. Therefore one may also assume that their ability to not hit what they don't want to hit is also on par. And as someone who lives out on the Styx with limited internet options, this sounds great! Bet the receiver would look real nice next to that PowerWall I'll probably never have, either.
  7. Wasn't it mentioned in the GPP thread there was the beginnings of a fix for this tho? That would be it, then. So I will continue not worrying about it.
  8. Ah, right thread! So, I wandered in here mostly seeking the dev version that's s'posed to mesh a little better with the odd day lengths in upscaled Galileo's planets. Installed 1.3.4.1, and at first glance, my build times seem to have gone nuts. They're way too long. Now I'm probably missing something here, I looked thru the KCT & MagiCore folders for a relevant config, but couldn't find anything obvious. I'm guessing the build times are just displaying the wrong day length because of an untweaked value somewhere. Also, and completely unrelated (as I was getting it with the older release version of KCT as well), any time I'm in the VAB I'm getting this spammed to the log: [EXC 21:43:21.369] NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object KerbalConstructionTime.KCT_Utilities.ProgressBuildTime () KerbalConstructionTime.KerbalConstructionTime.FixedUpdate () UnityEngine.Debug:LogException(Exception) KerbalConstructionTime.KerbalConstructionTime:FixedUpdate() Doesn't seem to be actually harming anything. I will get a full log once I reload the game so it's not 36 freaking megabytes.
  9. @Starman4308 *evil grins evily* For extra mysteriousness try Research Bodies too, that'll make you work to find all them plernerts. And wise choice on 3.2x. 6.4x is gonna keep me from getting very far from Gael, methinks. Unless I add some OP thing like NearFuture Improbability Drive, and stretched as my system already is, that's gonna require a much bigger candle. Or more beans. Or both.
  10. Ergo, a nuclear flarping reactor. And here I am struggling along just farting on a candle.
  11. I think the most telling thing here is that, just a few years ago, "everyone" was laughing at the idea of reusability... and now "everyone" (ULA, Arianespace, etc) is at least giving it lip service.
  12. It's worth noting that SpaceX's current experiences are really only prototypes, at least as far as reusability is concerned. They're figuring everything out as they go along, while still running a successful and (presumably) profitable company (even if those profits go right back intio R&D). It may turn out that the Falcon just isn't cut out for rapid reusability. The second (third?) generation reusable rockets, tho...
  13. Ah yes. Er, there it is. Of course. Dev thread. Who'da thought? *finds hole to crawl into*
  14. Well, that was the plan, but I've spent enough time pestering @Galileo & crew over at the dev thread that I mostly know it all already. Leto is really hot and destroys craft without enough radiators and Thalia has liquid nitrogen oceans, etc.
  15. Erm... feeling dumb here... Where is this release? The latest one I see on github from the OP is from back in September.
  16. Ninja'd. Yeah, black paint out in that Florida and California (and eventually Texas) sun isn't very conducive to keeping those propellants superchilled. Tho perhaps it is worth noting, Rocket Lab's Electron rocket also runs on kerolox, and happens to be all-black...
  17. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzsnoraxchoke wha? Huh? Oh, it worked. Yay! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  18. Sigh... Well, goodnight, all. Here's to a throughly unremarkable launch worth sleeping through.
  19. Oh, hey, just the thread I didn't know I needed! Under the hood of my 49-year-old found-lying-by-the-side-of-the-road truck all day with Dragonforce on the garage radio, so: *listen to half the other songs on this page* Hmm. Nope, still there.
  20. Year 4, Day 163... I had the strangest nightmare last night... like I was... drowning... It felt so real... And then this morning I found a fish in my sock drawer. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. While we wait for the Tellumo probes to reach their destination, we still need something to keep the roots flowing, so it was decided to launch another telescope since fixing the one Vlad broke in its ridiculously high orbit would prove... troublesome. With the recent random reorganization of reality giving us more powerful engines and a slight surplus of funds, we've finally been able to build a real rocket! Oh, so that's why Vlad's back in the infirmary again.
