The big opening at the bottom is the container for the parachutes, the hatch is right above that. When opened it slides up over the empty box on top, which holds the drogue chutes. -

Kinda like this? Worked surprisingly well after some tinkering, might have to use that in the future. But whatever you do, do NOT timewarp! I reckon there's some sort of like teflon liner in there along with the ropes to make sure they don't catch on anything. If you look at the lower box, it's not only bigger than the drogue box but much deeper. It's amazing just how big and heavy chutes need to be, despite what KSP says. -

It's a patio cover. For the restaurant. Not even kidding, there's a restaurant right there, or shortly will be. Rumblings on NSF say they might bring over Mk1's nosecone to complete the look once it starts getting in the way. But yeah, not flying. At least until the next hurricane. -
