  1. Oh, absolutely But would they make a good mount? Horses and camels are anatomically and physiologically well adapted for quick, efficient and most importantly, long distance running. I'm afraid we don't know enough about dinosaur physiology and metabolism to be able to ascertain which ones could match the performance of a horse carrying a rider.
  2. Encephalization quotient (roughly mass of brain\mass of body ratio) of Troodontid dinosaurs - which are considered most intelligent of dinosaurs, reached roughly 63% of the way between non-dinosaurian reptiles and modern birds. Comparing that to modern mammals, Troodontids were about as intelligent as... rabbits. Less advanced theropods had brains more similar to crocodiles and alligators than to birds.
  3. Even today not every bird meat is edible. Or at least palatable. Additionally, vast majority of domesticated animals are: A: Mammals, which are generally more intelligent than even smartest dinosaurs were. B: Product of hundreds or thousands of years of behavioral modifications by humans. Which also happens to work both ways. Not only animals learned to be docile and obedient towards humans - we too learned how to interpret and understand their behavior, needs and quirks. And last but not least - let's keep in mind that animals around us carry many diseases that can jump to humans and in many cases kill us. Due to generations of exposure we gained some levels of resistance to many diseases. But being exposed to a whole new biosphere worth of microbes will bring a lot of new health hazards.
  4. Is there an illegal moonshine still already in the colony? And a Seamstress Guild set up somewhere? Poker den? Saloon with bad music and watered down drinks? Because when people want entertainment, they will get entertainment.
  5. Regular Raptor or vacuum optimized Raptor (VacRaptor?)?
  6. Not sorry in the slightest. Launching a crewed spaceship is not something you should cut corners on, do half-backside'y or skip debugging process. Ever.
  7. I hope Boeing Starliner team takes notes on how to successfully launch a spaceship.
  8. I have a chance of seeing the launch live for once If road crews fixing the street finish on time, and there will be no congestion as i'll be returning from work
  9. This could be useful: Space Batman look FTW
  10. Eh, let's not kid ourselves. Given a chance to explore abandoned alien spaceship all of us would be like "GIMME!!!" Though refreshment course of TVTropes would be a very good idea before opening the airlock.
  11. It could be, if Starship was carried by a interplanetary mothership as a cargo\crew shuttle.
  12. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_salvage Don't think there will be no space equivalent. We already have international treaties governing the use of space. In the future there will be more.
  13. Freaking finally This proposal makes the rocket look a lot like obese Falcon9, but I'm very glad other space companies realized how future will look.
  14. Congratulations. It a huge achievement
  15. Which does nothing to change the fact it is a dead end. Even if all built rockets complete their missions successfuly and on time () there is no future for SLS. It's too expensive to support long term exploration of the Moon. It's too underpowered and expensive for crewed Mars exploration.
  16. And then what? SLS\Orion is basically Apollo 2.0. Couple of missions launched on horrendously expensive, one-off rocket. You can't build semi-permanent Lunar base this way. You can't keep it alive year after year. SLS is a White Elephant - impressive, prestigious, few in numbers. And a huge drain of resources (money). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_elephant
  17. This. And in this way, Falcon 9 would finally get reuseable second stage Hey, it would be Starship\SuperHeavy in miniature
  18. I, for one, am not surprised. Developing a dedicated smallsat launcher seems very risky, when big guys on the market offer rideshare flights semi-regularly. On a commercially tried and proven hardware to boot, which I'm sure matters when you want to buy insurance for your satellite.
  19. It is specifically referred to as "cargo module" - with attached solar panels. There are no mentions of any engines or fuel tanks. I'd say it's just that - extra space for cargo outside of the payload bay. Probably for less essential stuff too. So, yeah - basically equivalent of Dragon trunk.
  20. More like Dragon trunk. It will be detached and deorbited at the end of the mission, just like Soyuz service module.
  21. Pretty strong wind, rain and... are those storm clouds? Yeah, not looking good atm.
  22. Pretty much. Every other orbital vehicle is 'deorbit-and-pray' capsule. It lands where it lands, and then you have to run recovery operation - extensive one in many cases. With X-37 you can choose landing point. And recovery operation consist of ground crew plus a tow vehicle to drag the ship to nearby hangar.
  23. OK, i have to say that: With every launch and successful return X-37 validates Dreamchaser. It can precisely land on any decently long runway in range. And it's reuseable. Perfect lifeboat\crew return vehicle for ISS. Or any other station up there.
