I've just finished making a couple of guide videos showing how to build and fly a replica space shuttle using only stock parts. I thought I would share it. Download link for finished ship is - https://www.dropbox.com/s/v3cq5h7jml4kd4u/Shuttle%20mk3-e.craft?dl=0

I've found that landing an unpowered aircraft it's better to drop in very steep to keep your speed up, in the video I over shoot slightly but I had a little bit of fuel left to make the turn. An easy modification on that ship would be to swap the small rocket for a rapier and then add an intake or two. It shouldn't effect the thrust balance too much but the lower efficiency should be taken into account.

This is highlights from all my videos so far put into a music video, hope you enjoy it.
-
My best so far, 416m/s, the screenshot was taken the instant the fuel ran out and it decelerated super fast at sea level.
-
Part 6 is also done, this will be the last video from my current save game as I am probably going to be sticking with career mode for a while now.
-
It's been a while but part 5 now complete. My ship makes it long journey to Duna and lands all the parts needed to construct the base.
-
I tried loading up an existing base with the new legs, all the legs begin retracted and when you lower them by base leans over to the one side because of weight imbalance. I didn't try detaching anything as I was worried it wouldn't go back together again.
-
Ive just finished a base on duna using a very similar style of rover construction. I launched the entire base and landed it in one go then attached it together on the surface using a rover. Ive been making a video log of the entire thing here, the actual landing and construction videos will be online in a few days once ive edited and uploaded them.
-
Part 4 now up. Ive suffered a bit of a set back with an unexpected wobble but I fix it by replacing the central strut of the mothership.
-
I always forget to deploy the solar panels on probes
-
Part 3. I have put up the first two sections of the mission ship, the engines and the station module. I also begin to refuel the whole thing.
-
Part 2 is now up. As I have so long before my next Duna encounter orbit I decide to launch a small mission to the Mun, a replica of NASAs LADEE space probe.
-
After I lost my previous save file due to the latest update and I lost all my old recording and screenshots due to a hard drive "incident" I'm starting from scratch with a new and improved mission to colonize Duna in the name of all Kerbinkind. Episode #1 is just an intro and a simple rover landing to scout out the perfect location for the base. Thanks for watching and comments are welcome.

Ker-Bull Air Race (New Update to Better Gates)
Tarsus replied to Darren9's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
It worked fine for me using the file structure you created. It did take me a minute to realise that the race was a scenario and not a normal saved game. -

Here is my lap of the Short course, did it in 4:02. -
I only got 191ms, but I did it in a copy of an F14 for maximum topgun effect. Video only gets 186 but I got a screenshot of 191.

Space Age Throwback: Kerbal War 1
Tarsus replied to willwolvescry's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Those are the stock wings that have been attached on at an angle, I don't use any mods. The rocket is that tiny orange one with the annoying sound, you can see it when I do the rolls. -

Here is mine, Biplane powered by 1 rocket engine mounted underneath, 2 crew: jeb and bob, and has four unguided bombs on board. Ridiculously low takeoff speed and handling, good for low level stunts. Video here: Take-off Speed: less than 30m/s 30pts Maneuverability: Pin point maneuverability 30pts Engine Type: Inefficient Rocket Engine 20pts Weapons (Optional and points for each type and amount the aircraft is holding when air born) Unguided (no wings) Bomb 10pts - *4 bombs Bonus Points: Extra Kerbal 10pts per kerbal - *1 Hit a selected target with a weapon (Not including lasers and must be non-created) 10pts per hit - *4 hits on VAB/Control tower Jebediah Kerman is pilot (must not be edited in) 25pts So I think that comes to 195 points, 4 bombs dropped and all hit the VAB. -
Seeing as how my name has been removed from the roll of honor after the new patch I figured I would enter a new design. Its nothing special just a more compact and stable version of a previous design. Called the X-13 it should win the Advanced pilot precision award, it also performs an orbital docking and transfers over some crew.

Episode 6 now done. My first SSTO spaceplane of the series takes up the first crew to the almost complete mothership. Devland99 - I did that in an earlier version of the game, the hardest part is getting all the pieces to land next to each other.
-
Part 5 is up. Mothership is getting big now, this video shows missions for a space plane and the final habitation module.
-
Episode 4 is done, I think the sound issues are sorted now. I had to replace some of the modules as they seemed to be uneven. I tested the main engines to increase the orbit the whole thing seemed to want to go off in one direction, it also wobbles a bit but as long as it doesnt get much worse I can deal with that.
-
Episode 3. My 4th mission to dock the habitation module to the mothership. There are lots of explosions and crashes in this one.
