  1. Agreed, I like the old B9 that didnt include these Huge unnecesary Sci fi parts and all these dependencies. Could you possibly spit up a pack with just the old parts in a pack by itself.
  2. Seconded, Otis this is actually great advise.
  3. In my lifetime I've had about 10 different computers, 8 of them have been completely destroyed by viruses. Everytime I got a virus, it usually came from some website I downloaded something I shouldn't have or from a porn site, and all of them had some sort of virus program. The last 2 computers I've had are, this one (My gaming computer), and my laptop. Neither of them have had any sort of virus protection on them other than a windows firewall, and have yet to get a virus. I've had my laptop for 5 years of continuous use and my desktop for 1 year of continuous use, Viruses come from questionable sources and as long as you stay away from those you will be fine. That program sounds like a "Free easy error fix/driver updater" you get from mediafire or Isohunt/Piratebay. Tell him to stop pirating games and movies.
  4. The angle is almost a perfect 44.5 degree angle and the line going through it looks like an escape trajectory meaning it looks to me like a interplanetary transfer coordinate, possibly to Kerbin itself. I'm sure the conspiracy theorists will assume the origin of the "little green men" is on Duna, a dying planet, and the signal is a call to follow.
  5. He is using the oberth effect if he slingshots arond Kerbin on his way out. He's actully using it more efficiently that way, and if he aerobrakes on the return trip he isnt wasting any d/v, hes actually saving it.
  6. I did an Eeloo transfer starting from minmus orbit and saved 650 D/V. Jool transfers save about 750 d/v, and I'm sure its a just as large of a savings for the other planets as well. In order to calculate what your gonna save, you can take how much d/v it took you to get to the mun and subtract the escape velocity from the mun to get your savings. IIRC it's about a 450 savings to transfer from the mun to interplanetary, and when going to Duna that's only 550 d/v spent(less than a munar transfer) and if you time it right return trips cost less than 300 d/v. I've launched from minmus just about every time I've launched to another planet.
  7. Yeah, your gonna have to show us it can be done because currently without Hooligans airships it pretty impossible to have an eve SSTO. and landing it 2 times on Eve and moho is kinda like saying "BUILD A REAL LIFE ROCKET FIRST TO LAND ON THE MOON WINS!!"
  8. Negative numbers on the kethane gui translate to different directions in mechjeb. (EG. 25.2,-175.3 is 25.2N, 175.3W) a negative in the first number means west and a negative in the second number means south. In mechjeb make sure you have the correct compass direction selected when typing it in.
  9. Have you thought about using the LFO engine base to make a LFO power generator? I took your part and turned it into a LFO burning power generator by messing with the cfg file and it works really well.
  10. Try using Physical timewarp x4 works great just make sure you save often.
  11. I'm intrigued. So basically if I'm on the light side of the planet there's little to no, stars but on the dark side the stars reappear?
  12. There is a radial attachment system now using the KAS plugin to attach and detach some stock parts like solar panels RTGs and RCS thrusters as well as about 40 other small pieces.
  13. I know a certain recent addition to the forums that will be ecstatic about this.
  14. WHAT IN KERBOLS ORBIT?!?!?!?!?! Why did you feel the need to add that much thrust to get that tiny ship into orbit?
  15. Loose all the rcs tanks on the side and put 2 large rcs tanks under your bigger nervas on the side. Additionally, drop the center nerva on your engine cluster and put a non gimbled stock engine that's 215 thrust. Get rid of all your batteries and put the smallest ones on the sides and some static photovoltaic panels next to it no more than 1 on each side so there's no probe death. That will raise your thrust to about 875 and keep you D/V in between 8300-8500. Keep in mind that after you dock it to the command module your D/V will drop to around 6k-7.5k depending on its mass. 1000 Kn is a little hard to do with that much weight short of editing config files your gonna have to deal with either lower D/V and higher thrust or lower thrust and higher D/V. You cant have both.
  16. Umm I don't work for NASA, nor do I have friends that fly airplanes. I don't cheat in the game but I do use mechjeb because manually tapping WASDQE on the keyboard is no where near as realistic as typing in the pitch, yaw and roll angles in a computer and allowing the computer to "attempt" to keep that heading. And for your information on most of my builds( which include 2 different Isp engines on the same stage to balance D/V and fuel usage) mechjeb fails horribly at adjusting the nodes correctly. The autopilot just doesnt work half the time, so I just don't use that part of the program. I watched the ATV-5 launch the other day and unless I'm mistaken I didn't see the guy in the mission control hit spacebar to stage the rockets. I do think I saw him double tap "t" to cycle the ASAS though, I could be wrong. Your an idiot for condemning ppl that cant do the math on their own and therefore allow a computer program to do it for them. Honestly, I could use your same reasoning to say that if you don't use a joystick to control your rockets than your cheating because its not realistic. What part of "little green men" makes you think this is a realistic game? Using WASDQE to control your craft is incredibly clunky and imprecise. I have landed on kerbin's moons countless times without mechjeb autopilot, but I've also done it about the same amount with mechjeb. No one is dimminishing your achievements by doing the same thing with mechjeb as you did without it. I personally have never used hyperedit and don't plan on it, and I have used the debug menu to test craft and new engines. I don't build without clipping on because the parts don't fit together as they are supposed too and trying to put a ship together when parts don't behave properly is frustrating. But, I've never cheated once in this game. I have cheated on this game before(I thought the other game was sexy) I feel horrible about it now, and I don't know how I'm gonna tell KSP about it. Maybe one of you awesome KSP puritsts can help me with my little problem.
  17. Are you going interstellar because you could get to another star with that much d/v lol correct me if im wrong but thats got to be somewhere around 15000 d/v in that thing
  18. I love those solar panels. So awesome after .20 hit I spent 20 mins configuring the .cfg so they would work lol.
  19. That was pretty exciting. Whats better is I understood exactly what was going on. TY KSP lol
  20. I'm no rocket scientist(outside of KSP anyway ) but i find that D-v IS what it IS. i had 14000 Dv on a simple fuel tanker that went from ground to LKO. I'm sure i could have gone all the way to Eeloo with it but it was meant for refueling a station in orbit it was a sinple 6x asparagus staging with only 8 orange tanks used (2 in the center) with mainsails it lifted 80 tons to lko with a full orange tank for refueling. soo i would say less is more in all cases. Its a delicate balance between TWR/efficiency thats gives you your Dv. If a lifter has 1.2 TWR on its first stage and its says it has 4300 Dv, chances are if you do your launch right it will get you into LKO without staging it. As long as your TWR is above 1:1, it will lift you, and the Dv is calculated accordingly. Yes the less weight you have, the less thrust you need, but you dont need anything more than a 1.2 TWR to get launched. The more fuel you carry, the more thrust you'll need to launch. The more thrust, the faster it burns, the more fuel you'll need. Putting your 1st stage TWR above 1.2 is wasteing fuel, and in turn wasting Delta-v.
  21. Do you not know what a toroidial fuel tank is or how to use it?
  22. Has no one noticed that mirror/symmetry snapping is now in the stock game?
  23. As hard as spaceplanes are to make and successfully get to lko Im more of a do the impossible kind of guy so after my first sucessfull spaceplane flight i decided to built a spaceplane with nervas on it and a full kethane package umm..... pretty freakin hard actually but i actually did it and flew it ( after lko refuel ) to laythe with 3000 dv left over. thats one hell of a challenge. It only took me 30+ hours of design and fail.
  24. I give you the HHS-Pheonix with 25000 fuel 31000 oxidizer 2000 mono plenty of power(400/sec) 9 kerbal pods and only about 54 parts simple but very functional. This is of course my post .20 disaster save starting all over but hey thats the fun of it isnt it attached is my awesome SSTO i designed with a vacume delta-v of 5800 and a full kethane pack for refueling itself
