If I said that, please quote me. It was a bit different. When you said "yours" it means "me?" I guess you misread something. Thanks for the info, it saids something about how much the world population would grow in the next years and what are the estimations? How about Africa, I know there are a lot of births there but the mortality is very high. How can you increase the welfare and resource of all without a impact in our populations and resources? This is not a nice topic, but I never find a solution to it, birth control politics with rewarding those who has only 1 child? Education to all... Find others planet to live and get resources.. All this sound so hard to do, that may all be called dreams. If there is a topic in what I feel with the most confidence, it will be this, Evolution and bahavior. Since kid I watch lots of documentary, I read lots of books, I saw ton of evidence, I clear all my questions and doubts finding answers when I was not sure.. I think a lot in this, trying to understand why we feel things in certain way and what it will be the differences for each kind of animal and why. This knowledge alow me to make many predictions which I saw confirmed or discover by the scientific community over time. Some of this predictions were from topics that I dint have any clue. Like one time, 15 years ago, I discuss with a respected nutritionist that sugar should be the biggest problem, not fat, that a diet base in food that we could eat 30000 years ago with a similar physical activity must be ideal for our body. Now that was confirm, the paleo diet is the best for any sportsman. Evolution is one of the most important tool that we have to understand all about us. So yes, I would not get down my head and let a wrong statement pass just because there is 2 guys with better academy curriculum than mine saying the opposite. I know that my word had not value for you, that is why I also post the first articles that I could fine. And there is many "documentaries" that the only thing they do is pick evidence and interpret it as best suits them, just interviewing 1 or 3 who think similar, ignoring all the facts and logic that might point to a different answer.

Are they? http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=37421 http://www.helpfreetheearth.com/news468_zeitgeist.html Now let list the people who think that genes had a big effect in behavior: Rest of the world: (Born XXXX) they are ....... This discrepancy is even bigger than between global warming scientist, which only 0.1% believe that there is not. I just post the first results of on google search on "influence genes behavior culture" https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-science-imagination/201305/genes-affect-culture-culture-affects-genes http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_behavior http://www.brown.edu/Departments/Human_Development_Center/pubs/l5respns.html https://www.boundless.com/psychology/textbooks/boundless-psychology-textbook/biological-foundations-of-psychology-3/genetic-basis-of-psychology-31/genes-influence-behavior-137-12672/ http://web.stanford.edu/group/CCB/Pubs/paulpdfs/2003_EhrlichandFeldman_whatcreatesour.pdf http://isites.harvard.edu/fs/docs/icb.topic1230873.files/CulturalInfluences.pdf http://www.yale.edu/ynhti/curriculum/units/1987/5/87.05.03.x.html I dint read them to be honest, But I am sure that nobody will said such a thing as genetics does not influence behavior. Already did, but I can also be in a discussion with the 2 "scientist" that you name and win that discussion showing infinite evidence and logic (which will depend on my time). I cant lose. the true is on my side. I am very carefull with the things that I said or not. I never said that aggression is (or may be) the only behavior that give us "drive". I said that it may contribute, the same as other feelings. And we can not know with certain the consequences on remove aggression. Not even with studies, because it may be events where aggression is the only way to survive. I also did some examples of how aggression can be benefic to improve others altruist behaviors. Evidence of what? of not aggression? I guess they show aggression, also there is genes inactive at that age. Some genes get activate on certain age, hormons levels, circustance, etc. Ok lets cut here.. first aggression is not a trait of "adulthood", also is not the only drive that we have. So this example does not help us in anything. Is very difficult to separate the effects on genes vs culture, and how these influece the other. Now for scientist is a rough half and half. But TVP hypothesis needs NO-influence on behavior by genes to have sense.

Peter Joseph (founder of zeitgeist movement) one day visit and stay some days with Jack Fresco and her Wife to learn about their vision. He leaves and take those ideas to make 2 "documentary" to promove its "movement". They were pretty similar (almost equal), but Jack Fresco took distance from Peter because he was becoming the face and leader behind this vision. Funny, both argue about the need of the scientific method and a sociaty without possessions, but they can not share the "idea" or let it evolve. Such a hypocrites. Recomendation: If some of you had an idea and you want this idea to spread and grow (without earn any profits). Then let it free, share it, do not constrain the idea under a label, ideology or your name. Let everyone use it and modify as they want, everyone may choose to use it and how to use it. That way the idea can evolve and spread. Correction, 54 % of the population lives in urban areas.. not cities. There is a difference. Only the people who lives in cities on high develope countries had this low birth effect. We can call India almost a full urban area, and even in the cities the childs by couple is not low. I always place global warming as the second major threat, the first is over population. We are the root of all problems and we have limit resources. If you keep the population constant as today and you try include all in the same way of living than medium class, then the world can not sustain any more this number of people. Of course not, this is another nature denial that TVP followers need to believe. If you want to call some girl/guy attention to go out with you instead someone else. What do you do? At least this is an asset that is also share it... totally nonsense. People love its personality and distinguished from others (even if the distinction seems negative). In fact, we feel attractive to certain level of distinction by nature. I am not defending any behavior, I am saying that differences are good, leaving the ambient/system to filter and select those with more chances. Being too aggresive is not a good survival strategy, you had more chances to die young or be jail, so you can not transmit your genes. But that kind of behavior also helps to not aggresive individuals to not be too naive or down the defenses. They can fight using its own coperative methods without lose that will to live. Which is something that you lose if all is too easy without goals. This concept is used (exaggerated) in the movie Serenity, the clip: Instead things as feelings that with experience and we dont understand yet, are the ones that still keep us alive. But now some few think that they may know what of those feelings are benefic and which are not... And force everyone to be changed under its vision. I have no words to describe how wrong at some many levels is this. If people wants to take something to change in their own way, I guess they can do it.. Some may want cat reflex or better audition, extra force or more intelligence. It will be their choice and the ambient/system will filter those that are good for humanity. And a IA making all the important decisions will improve that or make it worst? here we have a resemblance to Scott Manley explaning why you can not remplace currency and some of the problems of venus project. http://youtu.be/hxjwBZjADiM?t=7m27s

So we agree that human nature is not aggressive by nature. These kinds of ideas are the most dangerous. You can not make people "better", because first we dont have any idea of what might be better, there is nothing as perfection, just adaptability. There is not a perfect state, just a diversity of behavior that can or not be prepared to a change of events that we never imagine "EVOLUTION". If someone tries to impose a change process to make you "better" depending their view, then you start with a war against the people who oppose to this change. Then racism, discrimination and persecution; all arise. Neither we are, but evolution is a mechanism who spread live over all the world and face and win against the most dramatic changes. Diversity is the key. Now you want us to trust in "someone" who think that found a perfect way of behavior? With what experience? Evolution has 2000 millons years of experience.. yeah that. Yeah, first its base theory is wrong, second is based on a magic IA which is programmed by us (imperfect beings). We made machines to help us, not to control us. You dint read my first post telling that zeitgeist movement is the same thing than venus project which founder (a 25 years old kid who work as an audio visual artist) copy all venus project ideas and make its own "church". Those people in the video knows NOTHING about human nature. Ask to real scientist! There is not scientific method there (even if they said that the movement is base on that), because they ignore and reject all the evidence and reasons which work against the movement. I can tell you and explain with full detail and examples how our behavior works, the amount that comes from culture and the part that comes from instincts. But the thing is that our culture is sculpt by our instints.

Human nature can be changed? Only if we become a robot and we get rid of our body. What you know how we were thirty thousand years ago? In fact all specialist in that area agree that we had small and very social communities. The life was so hard in those moments, and we had so much terrain, that the most important for survive was babies, work together and exchange people between different groups to avoid genetic erosion. If we become aggresive in some age, it was due the rise of the empires (this start 10000 years ago, not 30000), where too much power rested in one individual and the poppulation increase a lot. Also a misconception where we look the history, is that we think it was too aggresive or drastic all the time, but that happens because we study those war events were the changes happens. But we dont saw in a movie the current normal live of any average citizen of those times.. Because it will be very boring. There was 300 years of peace after the roman empire fundation. You see other animals killing between them without reasons? Or just to eat? It does not matter if the businesses care or not, it can not happen because they lose profits. So always the human being will have an asset. In case we dont, there would be no reason to exist, no matter if you use money or not. But they need to show how to reach that, or it lose sense. Is not the same to the futuristic videos that we saw.. because it was based in the same system. Here it shows a futuristic video with another system, and it does not mention how to reach that.

He is just describing the point B (a possible future), he is not saying how to pass from where we are to that. Also he has many hypothesis wrong. That is not an idea.. is just an utopia dream as lajoswinkler said. Machines would not remplace the human labor or asset from one day to the next, maybe they never will. Today in the world 1 in 4 people, still lives as everybody did 5000 years ago. And still almost everyone do something for living. If you remplace a human by a machine, and that human does not earn money anymore, then you have 1 less human who can not buy the products that this factory made, so the factory earnings are reduce.. So less money to invest in machines, unless you give that human another labor or asset to get its own money. Humans always will have an asset, is not possible to think in a future without it. Is like to think: can humans live without an universe? If that day comes where there is not purpose for a human to exist, then it will be our end as a species. Also talk about if this idea may or not work in 1000 years or 3000 years into the future is pointless, it does not explain even how to reach that point. Humans wake up some day and said "lets forget about the money"??

OMICRON - Flying Space Car Development Thread
AngelLestat replied to Climberfx's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
beautiful design, I just wish to not have a memory limit and already so many parts in the menu selection.. I will love to have it otherwise. -
Jack Fresco denies human nature (he does not believe that genes sculpt our base behavior), he just choice to ignore this factor because if dont, all its theory falls. Also its idea is not really an idea... An idea is something that explain how to go from point A to point B, he only describes point B. The same that I said: it will be a good idea to reduce poverty.. ok.. but how?? His idea is based that we will need an artificial intelligence computer to analize and predict all the humans needs on food or products, what product should be develope and what amount produced?. He needs that super imaginary computer because is the only way to remove money. But how much "something" cost, is the best way to know if it worth to develope that and how many you will need to produce; also tells us how efficient a product is. Those to name a few... Venus project inspire The Zeitgeist Movement (which is a copy) and both have a religious structure. (Everyone may join to the idea, but nobody can change it or think different)

yeah, is a silly idea.. I know everything about it.

50% of efficiency is not bad (if is possible to achieve that), but I am agree that this propulsion method suks due many others drawbacks. I have my money on Solar Sails taking into account how much they can benefit from carbon base nanotechnology and 3d printing.

Yeah I dont understand you either. But I dont expect that it will be a new technique (which I dont know about).. Is like maximus or others said, or you just do a first aerobraking to entering / lower your orbit, and then you make a final immersion.
-
What technique are you talking about? entering with low angles??

I could not see any picture of the city yet, but the place looks lovely. -
Zeppelin Rocket Carrier to reduce orbital cost
AngelLestat replied to a topic in Science & Spaceflight
I love airships... And I think the hydrogen rigid airships needs to comeback to solve many of the freight or commercial transport issues in some areas, they can be the most eco friendly and efficient way of transport. Saying this, I dont think that they can bring significant cost/deltav improve in the rocket business. -
Yeah it has a lot of ethical implications and I think they need a lot more advances to even try it. They just drop the idea to test people opinions. The religious people of course will be against due the soul aspect. I am not religious but the body is part of our personality... To make this more clear.. Imagine that they transplant a head to an opposite se.x body. The hormones are different, all the electical impulse of the body acts different, each cell of the body may be addicted to different kind of sustains (sugar, smoke, adrenalin, other tastes). All that may restructure the brain and personality.

Is a myth? where is your prove that is a myth? The reasons you give are wrong, first they are not parasites! Cockroaches has 400 millons of years of evolution with not significant change in its design. This means that they already accomplish the ultimate design in the ecosystem niche they fill, but they only takes few years to evolve and combat a new threat. They survive 5 major worldwide extinctions (we none so far) There are 4500 cockroaches species, they dont need us for survive, even the german cockroaches (the most common cockroach that always lives with humans), it can survive perfectly without us, it can even eat leather to survive. Also their position in the ecosystem is so important, that in case their get almost become extinct. It would produce a chain reaction in the ecosystem that will extinct us. Maybe as the blight in interstellar. Here is how they learn to avoid and recognize the bait used in cockroaches traps They also become inmune to many types of poison.

A Four Part Interview With Robert Zubrin
AngelLestat replied to Torquemadus's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Thanks for the videos.. In the third video he explain why we need a manned mission. I try to explain the same in the venus concept mission but I could not do it being so brief and with such strong words. People may differ in that, but if they really look the evidence and analize his words, they can not disagree. -
hey everyone... the topic was about how fast you lost heat in space.. not what can kill you faster under your own assumptions. it start from a basic that you have oxygen... so how fast the the body lose heat. that was the question..

Titan sub might explore Kraken Mare.
AngelLestat replied to Robotengineer's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Thanks, that is helpful, but is kinda brief, it seems that this idea is like a pre-concept work to review if worth to be study in deeper or not. Yeah, you may be right. moving parts equal to possible malfunctions. Yeah, is something that I never throght. I dont know if it is another gas with lower condensing temperatures.. ah yes.. hellium.. I guess they will transmit always from the surface. Is bigger than I imagine. It seems that they plain to "land" on the sea with that. The most amazing about titan is that surface pressure due atmosphere is 1.5 times earth. nah is not needed, in fact it will complicate any kind of maneuver -
Titan sub might explore Kraken Mare.
AngelLestat replied to Robotengineer's topic in Science & Spaceflight
3 pages and the only thing that was mentioned is whether the atmosphere can "kaboom" and how to drill europa ice? Serious questions: Why choose that large fin that works as an omnidirectional antenna? It has a second purpose? Why not a directional dish? Power source, 1 kw radiothermal energy.. this can be very efficient given that the extreme temperature difference with the ambient, but one problem may be the methane boiling at contact with the submarine, which may interfere with the sensors. Maybe the second purpose of the antenna fin is to act as radiator, so the thermal difference over the area is not big enoght. Submarine size? From all previous concept ideas to explore titan, this might be the most interesting due its biome. But there are all very efficient from the energy perspective.
