  1. Exactly, so i'm interested to see if anyone else takes notice of the other results aside from the answer. Of course i've no idea how many people use the google calculator.
  2. So, i use mech jeb and (in case you do not use it) it shows you the amount of delta-v to expect from each stage of your craft and the total. Sometimes you need to know what is being delivered by stages 11 through 8. So you need to add these up. If you use Google as your calculator you can get some strange results. 1317+2018+1100 gives me two tecnical pdfs and two address in the USA. has anyone else paid attention to these results? has anyone else struck gold? i wonder what the NSA think all these numbers i send to the internet mean?
  3. Oi've done that a lot with Jool setting up aerobraking then warping to the atmosphere assuming that the mandatory warp reduction occurs at various altitudes, only to find I've passed through Jool without any loss of speed. iw
  4. So i've not posted since science, so here are some key missions in getting all the tree: Early moon mission: A later mission getting many manned return trips to many munar biomes: A design for getting home safely, turns out parachutes only work on the craft you are focussed on. Final mission for science points, a return trip of eight crew to ike: And finally those eight intrepid explorers return to kerbin:
  5. Hi, i couldnt find an existing thread so... The wiki page on science has some altitudes recorded, but they do not seem to match the game. As i understand it every body has these biomes as minimum: Surface (except jool and sun) Low Atmosphere (except the inert rocks) High Atmosphere (except the inert rocks) Near Space Outer Space The wiki page puts approximate altitudes next to the low atmos and the near space. I had assumed that this is where the ourer or high boundary is. However, having been to Eve today with a double experiment planned i found that during aerobraking (in atmosphere obviously) i could not conduct any of my planned high atmosphere experiments as it thought i was in near space (at around 60km). So then, what altitudes define which biomes on which body? Cheers, RBS.
  6. This is for my science mission to vall. (colours for jool and vall taken from the glorious ribbon generator.)
  7. My greatest sense of achivement came on what I dubbed misson vall. The fligt was getting a man to vall and back, which is not that great of an achivement. The pride I have for that mission is that I spent two days building and planning the vessel, checking calculations, checking that I had ot missed key parts or got the staging order wrong. Then I clicked launch and... Nothing collapsed on the pad No stages fell into the rocket causing explosions on ascent No unexpected spins preventing stable orbits. No forgetting to open solar panels - or close them during lithobreaking around jool. The only error was not attaching a ladder to climb back into the craft after eva, luckily gravity was low enough for a jump and grab routine. This mission proved to me that planning worked and that I understood how all of the numbers work. RBS. M mmmbd£
  8. I am loving career mode - I had in fact got bored of sandbox. With all parts and infinite resources andything can be built. But with career mode the challenege changes, requiring you to use limited partsm. Eventually the end game is to tick off all the biomes, and that will be repetitive, but sandbox has the same complaint - there is nothing to do eexcept whatever your imagination thinls of. xei
  9. Hmm, not sure you've answered my question. Assume I am on Mun at a latitude of 60 degrees north. If do my gravity turn towards a heading of 90 (east) surely that is ineffecient as the craft will "fall south". I would have thought that another heading (120 ?) would be more effecient. RBS.
  10. Hi, to get all the science you need to land in some non-equatorial regions of Mun. To get to Low Munar Orbit, whit is the most effieicnt launch? is it just point east? or should i point towards the angle of inclination my orbit will end up? is that just my latitude? To get back to Kerbin, what is the most efficient launch? cheers, RBS.
  11. Loving career mode, and have a new flag to stick everywhere i look at the mysterious goo.
  12. Actually had a coughing fit from laughing at that. If onyl there were some kind of simulator we could use so that we didn't have to kill so many kerbonauts.
  13. Finlly visited everywhere! Ike, Laythe and Bop this morning to finish it off!
  14. Mining operations commence with a three module base on Minmus:
  15. So i'm building a mining base on minmus, and it starts as expected: Then when my third unit arrives, i notice that my first one has vanished (from tracking station too). How odd!
  16. Hi, i'm aware that you can "reset" the action groups by reloading the game and that can do an extra toggle on my dishes and aerials. Howver i currently have some dishes open ans some dishes closed, so this fix will simply swap them over. Has anyone got a fix for making the commutrons function like solar panels? (click to open and click to shut) Cheers, R.
  17. Right, this is shockingly ineffecient, i'm using all of my kethane to refuel my drilling machine, and have none left for the station. Any clues for an effecient drilling probe, lifting operation?
