This would be true if we were posting before the 0.14 update. Much has changed with Kerbin since I the implementation of the better looking PQS terrain system in 0.14.2.

x-posting from Facepunch: I'm really thinking about starting fresh in my save game. Right now it consists of me strapping giant boosters to interplanetary ships because I'm too impatient to do any orbital construction. So I've set some new rules for myself: 1. All designs must be realistic 2. Get a Kerbal to the Mun before going interplanetary. 3. If a Kerbal dies, you can't restart the flight 4. No quicksaving unless you do something really f*cking stupid. My old save file was fun. I'll miss my comsat network, and the massive debris ring around Kerbin. But I think it's for the better. I'm tired of loading up KSP and then closing out before doing anything because I'm bored.

I don't miss it. Was it inspiring? Yes. Was it practical? No. 1 billion dollars per launch and it didn't even get past LEO. Not to mention the stupid, dangerous decision to use solid rockets. The Buran shuttle on the other hand, was more advanced than the shuttle in just about every way. It had a full autopilot, able to land itself without crew. Nice renders. I have to agree with the bump map on Duna looking a little intense.

Yeah. It's definitely possible to use KSP's engine for a different game. Just look at Maxis, a lot of the pathfinding and logic in SimCity was probably based off of the ai creature pathfinding in Spore.

Duna, back in 0.17. I was in tears when the parachute ripped the probe to shreds. At least I got something on Duna.
