  1. I remember this happening (unintentionally) about a year or so ago, I think they called it the "great coffee spill of 2013" during the last upgrade transition. Good luck with this update, hopefully you won't have the same headaches as the last one.
  2. I'm a very big fan of MechJeb. It does most of what Kerbal Engineer does plus it helps new pilots out with some autopilot abilities until they figure it out for themselves. Later, when you're tired of the tedious task of keeping the nose on point for those 3 hour ion burns, it's very handy for that. Alarm Clock is another very handy tool. I avoid most mods mainly due to the fact they usually bring in a lot of bug/stability issues, though I'd love to load most of them up if but they all played along nice together.

  3. I couldn't figure out if your challenge was to recreate your first mission, or if you were just recalling your first mission as an example. I took it as you wanted us to recreate our own first missions. My first real mission attempt was to make it to Kerbal Orbit, so here's a modern recreation of that flight. Landing wasn't pretty in this case, but the pilot survived! Feel free to handle the (what?) scoring.

    And wow, I actually remember watching that show on TV...

    And did you recognize Jonathan Harris from that episode. He was Dr. Smith on Lost In Space.

    For the majority of the trip, yes. I did open it up to 5 m/s at the flat lake beds, but even that got pretty wobbly and down right scary at times.

    And yes, I do recognize Harris from the "original" Lost in Space.

  5. MinMus circumnavigation completed. I video capture the "exciting" parts of this two day journey on a polar land trek around this planet. The rover is the Ark III, as a homage for an old land rover from way back... the

    . My Ark III is powered by a quad core nuclear reactor for nearly unlimited power supply. Much thanks to Mechjeb for allowing the cruise control while I laid back in the lounge area of the rover and played Space Invaders on the large screen plasma.

  6. 1) There's an unlimited supply of Kerbal's even though there are no cities.

    2) There's an unlimited supply of fuel on Kerbin.

    3) There's an unlimited number of materials & supplies on Kerbin.

    4) You will constantly be testing bullets 1-3 above.

    5) Sleep is unnecessary, the fix for your current design is only a few minutes away so just keep at it until it's working.

    6) NASA will not accept KSP veteran as an acceptable training reference for a job as an astronaut or engineer (or space janitor).

    7) The Kraken will find you.

    8) 64 bit is bad

    9) Never let Jeb drive, especially when sober.

    10) Cannot play with any efficiency without a mod installed.

    11) Use the [ or ] keys to change between nearby ships/Kerbals

  7. This is probably due to handling "assemblies" but as it is working partially it's apparently a coding issue. Basically when I copy a group of parts (the assembly), as long as my symmetry is set to mirror, the placement and duplication of parts works correctly. If for any reason the symmetry is change from Mirror to Axial, any attempt after this point to place the assembly using the Mirror symmetry results in an incorrect orientation of duplicated parts, you have to abort the process and start over with the attempt in order to get a correct placement and arrangement of the copied parts.

    Part two of this report is that in some cases the mirror option is not offered to you. Granted placing any parts that were previously placed using the Axial symmetry will force all parts placed on it to also be axial. However, in this example my assemblies are being forced to axial on the extended assembly of the wing, unlike when I was placing the same engine assembly on the main axial body. I suspect having parts around the center axis of the copied assembly is causing this undesired result in placement.

    Mods I currently have installed include MechJeb, TAC Fuel Balancer, and Chatterbox.

  8. Well, IMHO rovering to the mountain is actually the hardest way of going there: 18 h of driving at normal speed and the glitchy nature of KSP surface makes that even 2x phys warp is dangerous ... not mentioning the areas where gravity misbehaves badly.

    On the rules stuff, the only mention you do of rovers is on the " made it in style" section of your opening post ... and the only vehicles that you mention in the "I like it easy" area are specifically flying ones. Hence my question ...

    Anyway, I expect to do another stunt to get there, that no one tried so far. Stay tuned :P

  9. Station launch successful, 100% stock. Single launch to orbit, room for 32 Kerbal's with another two in the upper/lower control towers, and room for another two in the science lab (max space station capacity = 36 Kerbals). 10 docking ports available, 2 Large, 2 medium, and 6 small ports with light kits for dark side docking. Includes long and short wave antenna's.

    Station core in VAB for confirmation of required build sizes of at least 20m in each direction (MechJeb loaded for calculating fuel/thrust requirements while in VAB)
