Thank you for the progress reports, it's looking good.

Retractable docking port behind canopy sounds good, this is becoming very interesting.
Sirkut says he's set the Dynosoar aside for now to deal with IRL issues.
-
Looks perfect for a lifeboat!
EDIT: All it needs is a booster-rocket pack to achieve space!
There's not an obvious place for a docking port, how will we dock it?

Don't suppose anyone cares to show off and/or share some of their lander designs that utilize the ALCOR pod?
Here are some shots from 2 recent flights.

The upper left shield switch works for me.

Yes, a 2.5m capsule is in the plans. I don’t expect this to take as long as ALCOR, though, because over 90% of all the time spent on ALCOR was spent on making props. By now, I have modeled, textured, animated and configured something like 313 different props of about 60 different types, not counting testing and unpublished props. As RPM plugin gets developed, I plan to add more handy instruments. I expect this kit will suffice for a lot of different projects.
That's great news that you are planning other capsules with the instruments you've developed for the ALCOR.
-
...I use the ALCOR also as a rover cockpit, because, well, it's the best capsule period, and I notice that it's the one thing that's missing in IVA.
Thanks for making this and sharing it, btw.
Agree, this is the best. I wish there was a capsule like the Mk1-2 as good as the ALCOR. After trying every command pod I could find over the last week, I'm just going to use this one for everything, even for re-entry. Will have to figure out how to use an ejectable over-sized heat shield for the ALCOR with DeadlyReentry.
Oh well, I might as well ask. Alexustas, do you have any interest in making a Mk1-2 sized command pod in the style of your ALCOR and with its electronics?
edit: Reading back through the thread I found that Horus had a similar idea with a different solution at post #720:
Yes, ALCOR's own landing trunk with heatshield (similar to HOME one) would be really nice. -
Hmmmm...April 1st. To click or not to click, that is the question.
-
Nice work blackheart612, thanks. You got me using Squad engines again.
-
Looks good so far, I'll be following this.

I'd love a 5 man lander that looks like this: (This one is too big but you get the idea).
+1!
Or 3 man with that look. It seems to be one thing we are short of, good command pods with a style that can be used in lots of different configurations. And if I'm going to wish, room on top for a clamp-a-tron and a window in the center seat with a view looking past the clamp-a-tron for docking.
-
Yes to Steampunk Kerbal. For ideas google 'steampunk rocket ship' and click on 'Images' at the top. For ideas on the style you can do the same for 'steampunk games' and 'Images'.

WARRRRGALARGL , WANT NOW!!
What he said, only with more GALARGL.
I could be talked into testing.

The 'chopped' shuttle model by Daemoria is wonderful. I hope there will be a version something like this that can be used as a regular ferry to a station, in addition to the 'Rescue' version.
My vote is definitely for skids. I used to try different things such as small girders to make skids for the WEKA.
-
Yes keep it simple. Built-in or room for a Clamp O Tron at the rear is great, it will save headaches trying to rig something. Both shapes look good to me. Not sure if 'Rescue' means it's a rescue ship or that's an indication of where the hatch is. I'd use this ship as a regular ferry for a station.
-
If you succeed this lifting body will be one of my favorite things to fly. I used the WEKA all the time for thrill-ride returns from stations, and frequently still try to make something like it with parts found here and there. Best of luck with this project Sage Sagan.

Thank you K3|Chris, and alexustas for the instructions. First docking with the ALCOR using the camera was great, looking forward to learning how the rest of the instruments work.
-
I have been looking for a command pod that gives a good view from inside the capsule while approaching a station and during docking. I've just started using the ALCOR again and so far like it a lot (the realistic sound inside the capsule is a great touch). I guess there's no way to use the big window to monitor the docking from inside. What other way would give the best inside docking view with the ALCOR?
-
Lack, in my request for a small command pod with a view, I forgot to say why I was asking here. It's because the Bonny is so close to what I'm looking for, it's just a little long and it's in the style of an aircraft. But the style isn't as important as the length, which is awkward when building a ship for docking or for landing vertically.
-
Lack, a request. I can't find a .23 one-man command pod that has lots of glass for a clear view from inside the capsule for viewing stations on approach and for docking maneuvers that also has room there for a Clamp-O-Tron regular or Jr. I would love to have a command pod like that to use as a small tug and also that could be configured as a light lander.
-
I like these tanks, but the paint looks like raked mastic for laying tiles or something heavy like that. Shouldn't the paint be more flat or shiny?
-
I've removed some plug-ins and haven't had any explosive ALCOR dis-assemblies since.
-
Thank you taniwha and Talisar for the comments on the ship.
Is there something extra to do in order to reduce the size of the image file when using a solid color, or is it smaller because of using the solid color?
-
Thank you for the Angara, she's a good ship.

Thank you for the Base Mount, it's going to make putting together landers a lot easier. The FASA Orbital Bertha Mini engine fits with it. For planets with heavy gravity is there a more powerful engine that would work?
