  1. This does explain how they never run out of kerbalnauts.
  2. Indeed, but if they ever get FTL/interstellar travel/anything crazy, it should all revolve/begin with Moho. The best thing that's coming to mind is that all the Mass Effect tech started with a find on Mars. But yeah, I do agree that everything needs to be a little...stranger (/Joker).
  3. Meh, that would require foresight and planning. As far as I can gather, that's not the Kerbals' way. I managed to get my inclination to 88 deg, I just had to look at the orbital info window, burned normal, then antinormal, and I was on target. An easy fix. That I didn't figure it out on my own makes me feel kinda simple...
  4. The devs really need to do something about this. They need to make Moho even weirder.
  5. Yeah, I can't really select anything as a target with an A/D node. I'll eyeball it later and just mess about with the angle.
  6. Ah, thanks. I'm using MJ 1 right now (waiting until the official release). I'll try mousing over now.
  7. I've got MechJeb, and while Protractor certainly seems useful, it's not what I need. I think there was a misunderstanding, or perhaps I wasn't quite clear. Lemme try again. Right now, I'm in orbit around Minimus. My orbital angle is ~94 deg. I want to get it to ~88 deg. So, when I'm plotting a course by putting down a node, is there a way to see the angle of my projected path? That is, the angle of the dotted orange line. Sorry, not entirely up on the terminology, and if Protractor does indeed do that, then my bad.
  8. Hey all, I'm just wondering if there's a way to determine the inclination of your projected orbit (not current orbit). I'm trying to get to around 88 deg for mapping purposes, and my current orbital inclination is around 94 deg. I don't have a protractor laying around that I could hold up to the monitor, so I'm really hoping that there's an in-game way.
  9. I strongly suggest you go into a low polar orbit around Moho, and recreate the events of Event Horizon. Mainly because I am a sick, sick, sick man. Of course, I doubt the whole "eating your own fist" thing would be an issue for a kerbal, since their heads are larger than their bodies.
  10. Aaaaaaaaaaand my head just exploded. These guys are incredible, especially the pilot, who was apparently locked in a room for 4.5 hours. Considering the fact I react to math the same way the chimps react to the monolith in 2001, I think I'll have to pass on anything like this. Ever.
  11. HGGundamReviews, I just wanted to thank you. I did indeed have enough thrust and fuel to make it to a circular 60km orbit. The map went from being what resembled a bundle of shoe strings to an actual map. And it won't take forever and a day to do. Now if only the kethane detector wasn't a straight beam. Then I'd have nice things...
  12. I use it sparingly, but I know that even things like the Assent tool (which I use just so I can get my mission into high gear and then get a drink) is a gateway drug. We'll see where this dark path takes me. I've already been using it to adjust my orbits and such. I'm not yet ready to admit I have a problem, but one day...for now, it's all I can do to keep the spiders at bay.
  13. 1. Thanks for the link, Akalaël! It gave me some good ideas, and I learned about the current state of fusion reactors in the process! 2. Frostiken, I just DL'd the winch mod, and I'll be installing and toying about with it some time today. 3. Nimaci, great tip! I do believe I'll be using the template thing in the future! 4. Peenvogel, I'll be messing around with those two mods when I get the chance. Not sure about the rainbow scheme on the weights, though. But maybe I'll build a trebuche and try to get a pod into orbit! And folks, I must say, I am infinitely pleased with how cool all of you are. When I come to a game forum, I expect flame, I expect vitriol, I expect a Circle of Hell that Dante couldn't have dreamed of. Thank you for following Wheaton's Law. /mushystuff.
  14. Fishy, I'd say you're the first to find a black hole in KSP, but there's too much atmo...
  15. Obligatory Mun's view of Kerbal. I might retake it when flags come out.
  16. Wait, girders are capable? That strains the mind a little...
  17. You know, it's funny. Everyone wants to see cities on the surface of Kerbin, but I've already worked it out in my head that our dear kerbals live underground! But if there are cities topside, it'd be nice to have an easier means of landing at the space center. It'd be rather nasty (if awesome) to slam into a major population center at klick a second... But what I'd really like to see is a bigger variety (read: ANY variety) of geological features, not only on Kerbin, but on all the rocky planets.
  18. Yeah, the MG thing is pretty much a club. And thanks for the tip on the mass sale thing.
  19. Well, I told my mother about this game weeks ago when I first started, so she's keeping it in mind. Personally, though I'm going to wait until the full release before really hounding her about it. Right now there's too many bugs, and while I may have learned a preternatural calmness, I don't wish them on any young person's fragile, still-forming psyche. Of course, I'd have to teach my mother the game so she could teach it to the kids, and that might be tricky!
  20. 60km? Seriously? Huh. I remember reading that it works best at lower altitudes. I'll keep that in mind for future mapping projects, as right now, I don't think I've got the fuel or the thrust to climb out of my current orbit.
  21. Hmm...Good thoughts, good points. I'll need to look at my layout for my drilling platform, but I don't think many of the parts are c.f. capable. I might need to rethink my design. As for the positioning, I may have found a good spot, and it does happen to be on the equator, but I'm not making up my mind until I get the full map.
  22. Here's the deal: I heart KSP. I've not only filled my brain to capacity with new terms and concepts, but gained a newfound respect for the real space programs. I want to share this love and respect and knowledge and other warm fuzzies. My mother's a middle-school teacher, and is in charge of the MG program. I'm thinking that this would be a fantastic game for the kids in the program. So what do YOU people think? Would this be good for kids of that age, or would it go over their heads? I hope not, and I think not, but I'm basing this off of myself, and I'm older and wiser than I was as a kid. The only real issue I can foresee is a time issue. This game is a total time sink, and it can take awhile to do anything of real meaning...
  23. I got it off of Steam, and I really have no issues, other than having to dig a few directories deeper to install my mods.
  24. Yay! I'm gonna get to sleep tonight! And as for warping, I'd love to, but I'm way too close to the surface to warp. Sucker's been running all day on 1x speed...
