  1. this thread is so full of awesome. Ah the memories.
  2. After an unsuccessful mission to land this thing in the münar canyon, I decided for a more forgiving terrain. It's great, holds 8k kethane, 1 drill and two KAS nodes. It's a headache to launch though.
  3. Fanboyism? Does this mean KSP is the new FF7?
  4. Electrodes have been implanted successfully into a human brain before. However the greatest challenge scientists have to face is precision. Much is unknown about the human brain and the effects of stimulating it trough electromagnetic fields. So if tomorrow they brought a microchip on the market I wouldn't have it implanted. At least not before it's been in circulation for at least a decade and the side-effects are known. PS: If you're intrested about this kind of thing, check out Michael Crichton's 'Terminal', it gives a realistic view of how it would be possible TODAY.
  5. My geek sense is tingling, I have to joint the discussion now. Let's assume that it takes two things to achieve type 3. Time and intelligence. Time, meaning a civilization probably would have to survive for many times the amount of time we've been around. And as Darwin says survival means adaptability. Meaning the civilization we would encounter would probably be very tough, and have specialized into different species who would be better at doing different things. Just as the cells in our body have specialized to do certain things, and just as different species on earth have specialized to deal with different things(and to a lesser extent, how people specialize to solve very large problems). As a relatively young civilization, we commonly use dogs, bacteria, mice, insects, etc.. to make our life easier and increase our chance of survival. Not to mention the fact that we've been enhancing ourselves with computers for the past half century. Just as computers help us survive and be more efficient, I expect any lifeform to do the very same thing. Meaning we wouldn't face ONE genetical or mechanical strain, but probably a variety of them, some fast, some slow, some the size of a mountain, some smaller than a dust particle. So OP, sorry but I don't think the analogy works as scifi, it does make for a very fun script though.
  6. So far .20 has been much of an improvement for me. I have not yet experienced any lag or performance issues, compared to .19 where I would have physics lag. However I'd like to know if someone has tested the boundaries for the current version. I mean, how big does your ship/station/base have to be for it to lag. I will be testing this myself later. If you can, post pics and your specs! If you're using mods would be useful to add this as well.
  7. Tried the new docking nodes. And with the new editor, they now attach properly!!!
  8. New fairings? Looks great. Some sick graphics now, the game looks pretty
  9. Wow that was fast. Here goes my sleep.
  10. Squad, thanks for being awesome, thanks for being so open to the community. You've fueled my desire to get into game development even more.
  11. I really hope optimization works out for you guys. I know it can be a tedious task. Also the new lighting updates look really good.
  12. I've been succesful docking 7 ports simultaneously, but never tried off-center. Even the slightest inclination difference will probably fail the simultaneous docking. It's possible in theory, just approach at mm/s and make sure you align both vessels to the north or 180 and get the right rotation, additional sas probably helps too. On the other hand, yes multiple docking ports are still wobbly and if you want stability quantum struts is the way.
