  1. KSP2 has a lot of new features that is coming with it, features that have me excited because with colony construction, orbital ship building stations, and interstellar solar systems, it should be possible to build a Von Neumann Probe in the game completely from stock parts! I always wanted to try to build one in KSP but I always had to download 150000000 mods that slow down my computer in order to get the right parts and for Star systems (because having a self-replicating probe stuck only in one system. Isnt as cool) and even then I can never get it right. That little rant aside, with the comong release I was wondering, how would you design a self-replicating probe? What are the pros and cons to such a thing? How will it be possible to rven get it off the ground without Scott Manly levels of skill and design?
  2. Thanks for pointing it out! I tested my game with each mod and removed the one that was causing the issue, works like a charm now!
  3. It is intact I know that, So I was completely confused as to why it wasn't working.
  4. I am planning an unmanned Mun landing, had the craft built, but for what ever reason it won't launch. I already have a geosynchronous relay network set up, and I have several antennas on the ship itself, and it is ion the landing pad, but for some reason it always says no connection. I check my power, added and removed antennas, and even removed the shroud to see if that was the issue, but nothing. Any ideas?
  5. I've always had trouble with going to other planets, to the point of relying completely on mechjeb for anything between planets. What are some tips you guys have for me?
  6. Yeah I would, lets see this monstrosity in all its glory!
  7. Oh sorry, I forgot to put that in! Yes you do,preferably TAC life support, but any other life support would do to!
  8. The world is dying. The oceans house no life anymore, the last fish dying long ago. The ozone layer is gone, showering the surface in radiation and driving almost all of Kerbal-kind underground. You are tasked with saving your race by building an Ark, a craft designed to bring Kerbals to a new home. The Ark must follow the following guide-lines: 1.It must carry as many kerbals as possible. 2.Once it leaves the Kerbin system, It must be able to sustain itself (Greenhouses for food, mining equipment, etc) 3. It must carry at least three probes to gather data on possible landing sites on the planet of your choice. 4. It must be able to establish at least one colony that can sustain itself --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- a Life support mod (TAC preferred but other life support mods accepted) is required for the challenge, otherwise it can still be considered stock as long as no other mods are used. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Point system: each kerbal = 5 points each colony structure (excluding corridors) = 5 points each probe (over three) = 3 points ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Achievements: End of the Line: Colonize Eeloo (2000 points) Crowded Neighborhood: Colonize the moons of Jool (200 points each) The Forgotten World: Colonize Dres (400 points) Hope you like Potatoes: Colonize Duna (350 points) Where's the Boulder?: Colonize Ike (200 points) Close to Home: Colonize The Mun or Minmas (50 points each) Under Pressure: Colonize Eve (350 points) The Great Potatoe: Colonize Gilly (325 points) Pack the Sunscreen: Colonize Moho (700 points) Tight Space: Colonize an asteroid (100 points per asteroid) New Horizons: Prove that your craft can leave the Kerbol system and reach interstellar space (1000 points) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Modded highest Scores: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Stock Highest Score: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
  9. Alright, I have this base all tried and true on Kerbin as a test run, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to build a carrier for the thing! Every time I try something, it either falls apart, blows up, or is so monstrously big that I can't even launch it! Any ideas on what I should do? Edit: I didn't know where to ask this so I made this thread in general discussion.
  10. As most of us know, there is a second KSC that can be found on Kerbin. As an easter egg it is cool little place, but wouldn't be great to be able to use it? Like every time we start a new game that there is a third option on the menu that allows you to choose between the classic KSC and the second KSC. Not only would it be a nice change in the environment, it would also provide its own challenges since it is surrounded by mountains that airplanes and returning spacecraft can crash into.
  11. I've always had a hard time with planetary transfers, I can never seem to get them except on some rare chances. Can I get some tips on how to do them?
  12. I always wanted to use the science lab, but I always found it too bulky for anything thing except for large interplanetary missions. I would like to see a second lab that is smaller then the other one designed for smaller missions in mind. It will not give as much benefits as the large lab would, but its smaller size and lighter weight can be very helpful for early manned missions to the Mun or Minmus, and as a light weight choice for other small bodies in the solar system like Gilly or Bop. It could also be unlocked in the 3rd science tier. What do you guys think?
  13. One time I was flying a plane and it crashed into the ground. What then happened was one of the wings survived and still had SAS on, so its flapper continued flapping away until it gained so much speed it left Kerbin and entered into an orbit around the sun. I didn't have the heart to delete it, so I renamed it the Little Wing that Could. Edit: Im sorry that I couldn't put in screenshots, I couldn't remember the right button at the time.
  14. Eh, I always found quick saves iffy. I use them, definitely, but sometimes they cause a few glitches them selves. I remember onetime my craft was returning from Kerbolar orbit and rolled down a mountain side, and when I quickloaded to go back to orbit it rewritten my entire career! Ever since then (to what I call "the attack of the time Kraken") I rarely used quick saves.
  15. I was wondering if anyone built a prison for those Kerbals who commit the heinous crime of snack thievery and whatnot?
  16. I got bored in American Lit class today and I started to think about random thoughts, when I started think about the multi-universe theory and travel in between these universes if they existed when I realized something. If one is able to travel between universes, could that mean that one would violate one of the biggest laws of physics, the Law of Conservation? To picture this clearly, lets imagine a person (lets name him Bob) makes a machine able to transport him from our universe, Universe A, to a similar neighboring universe, Universe B, to visit his other self Bobb. This machine only lets him and what he is carrying though to Universe B, and does not let anything from Universe B into Universe A unless Bob allows otherwise. If he uses this machine and enters Universe B, and nothing else is allowed to cross between these universes, that would mean Universe A would lose matter and energy (the energy and matter Bob is composed of), and thus the universal constant in Universe A would be changed in conflict of the Law of Conservation. Now when Bob enters Universe B to meet Bobb, Universe B's universal constant would be changed by the sudden addition of Bob's matter and energy. Three things can occur when this change occurs; one, both universes will get unstable and collapse onto themselves; two, Bob would be pushed back into Universe A as Universe B prevents him from entering, or ; three, nothing would happen. The third option would be most intriguing, because this could mean that energy might be transferred between universes by a process similar to osmosis. In accordance to that, since Universe B has a higher concentration of energy than universe A, energy would flow from Universe B to Universe A until an equilibrium would be reached, and allowing Bob and Bobb to meet in person. What do you guys think of this?
  17. When you look at a random car and seriously think about how to get it to Duna.
  18. If it is possible, I want a flag with a dark blue background and a white Orion constellation symbol in the middle. (heres a link to the symbol if you need it:http://www.suberic.net/~dmm/astro/img/thick/Orion.png )
