  1. Is anyone playing around with plasma thrusters? I'm in career mode so I only have upgraded nuclear reactors right now and they are not a great option for plasma thrusters, so I'm trying to go the microwave energy path. The problem with this is that the microwave receiver limitations are more stringent then remotetech where the dish must actually be pointed at the transmitters/relays. So the options I see are to either flood the entire area with transmitters and relays or to build ships with multiple receiver dishes all over the ship. What are you guys doing?
  2. When you switch to a ship, the game converts the orbit information in the save into a different format for use while flying. When you leave the ship, it converts the flying information back into orbit information. There is a loss in precision when it does this, so your orbit changes slightly every time you do it. Same happens for passing into physics range. It's not by a lot, but over months and years, it will start to show.
  3. Great! Thanks for clearing that up. This is probably why I'm seeing waste heat increase even with 6 radiators, it's because waste heat was near 0. It's kind of funny because I knew about this phenomena in real life, but I didn't expect the gameplay mechanics to model that so I was expecting a flat rate of heat reduction and was confused when I wasn't seeing it. This is a fascinating mod, great job!
  4. Append: Is the amount of heat dissipated relative to how much heat is currently in the system?
  5. I was wondering if someone could help me understand something about heat dissipation. I have a space station with the tiny 62.5cm fission reactor and matching generator. The generator is off. There are 6 small heat radiator fold out fins on the station. Waste heat has been building up regardless. I EVA'd and performed a manual shutdown on the reactor. When I got back inside, I see that the waste heat is still rising. When I turn the generator on, waste heat goes down as does thermal power. What's going on here? When I make a test ship, I stick a large 2.5m fission reactor on with a small heat radiator. I let it go for a bit, it builds up waste heat rapidly (800 units/sec). I go EVA, do a manual shut down and when I get back in, the 1 small heat radiator is more than enough to get rid of the waste heat. I know the radiators are better in atmosphere, but this seems like more than it should. Any ideas?
  6. Interesting... I started with a fresh 0.23 and installed mods piecemeal, running the game in-between each few mod installations and now have a fully functioning version with the toolbar working correctly. I guess you can't install everything at once or the toolbar bugs out.
  7. I realized I should have mentioned which mods I'm using that use the toolbar: Docking port alignment indicator FAR Alarm clock Crew Manifest Fuel Balancer I've checked and there is only 1 toolbar.dll in the whole gamedata folder (in the 000_toolbar folder)
  8. Hi, I'm having a problem where the toolbar doesn't work at all. In the main screen, there is only one button on the toolbar but there is no icon on it. The toolbar itself flickering rapidly between visible and invisible. When flying a ship, there are 3 buttons visible, 2 have icons and the last one does not. None of the buttons are clickable though and the toolbar frame seems to flicker between two different height/width dimensions. I've just upgraded to 0.23 with all my mods so this is the first time I've used the toolbar and earlier, none of the mods I used were hooked into the toolbar.
  9. Thanks for making this mod. It makes adding RCS fun and easy now! Would it be possible to adapt it to also show torque from main engine thrust vectors as well? I'd love to be able to make some asymmetrical ships. At least if torque was low enough then thrust vectoring could take care of the rest. (it would be even more amazing if there was an indicator that would tell you if thrust vectoring was enough to keep the ship flying straight or not, but that would just be a bonus). In any case, thanks again for this mod.
  10. Haha, yeah, I am a bit, but that's my own fault. Thanks for these great models!
  11. Dani-Sang: Use 7zip: http://www.7-zip.org/ it's free and opens more archives than winzip or the built in windows thing.
  12. Thanks, zzz. Using 1.02 scaling on the radial mounts actually doesn't look too bad and it hides most of the clipping. There is still a small amount: http://mobile.sheridanc.on.ca/~jonescor/temp/capture.JPG but it's not that bad.
  13. Yeah, I've been trying to resize the engines. I'm worried that resizing the housing makes them just a little too large and also affects how the mounting bracket fits on tanks. The only problem with resizing engines is that you need to make them pretty small to hide the clipping, but since it is a uniform scale, it also makes them quite short. I don't think there's a way to scale engines on X/Y only? They'd look ugly, but since they would be hidden inside, it wouldn't matter. But yeah, even with the clipping, the radial mounts look amazing. Maybe I'll just stick rcs blocks or some other small bits to hide the clipping.
  14. Man, these look crazy good. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but the stock nuclear motor and the lvt 45 and 30 engines clip through the housing a bit. Does anyone have suggestions on some engines that don't clip through?
