  1. The hardest part of this challenge is that when our highly trained pilot starts his descent late and over shoots the landing zone and runs out of fuel over water, and we have to repeat the entire thirty six minute flight all over again. However, we here at Storm Technology are proud to present our official submission: the ST-X9 Nimbus Fully stock, Five intakes, one engine, and an cruising altitude of thirty two and a half thousand feet (At a velocity of 2100m/s.) Touch down time was 36 minutes, 40 seconds. We qualify for: Winnar; Monolithic; Speed Angel; Putting our adjusted time at 2164 seconds. Lift off! Touchdown! Official flight statistics. Sunrise on a circumnavigation. There were little wisps of fire pretty much the whole flight. ---------------------------------- Craft file is here: ST-X9 Nimbus

  3. We here at Storm Technology see a fantastic challenge when we see one. That said, our engineers specifically set out to make a remarkably plane-like entry. We give you the Storm Technology - eXperimental Eight 'Vortex' Jet. Aka, the ST-X8 Vortex. Our record is 2319m/s. We used several truckloads of intakes throughout the whole development process. Truckloads. 84 in total are mounted on the Vortex. With two fuselages and four engines. Highest speed was achieved during atmospheric orbit #3, with two engines off, and the other two set to ~2/3s throttle at peak. Dipping down to ~43km at the lowest, with an expected apoapsis at ~250km when at maximum speed. No mods were used in the making of the aircraft. Its manned by one Wilfrey Kerman. the ST-X8 Vortex officially clocks in at an astounding 2319m/s. Thats right. Our systems recorded an overland speed of 2319m/s. Wilfrey is just overjoyed. Everyone knows fire makes Kerbals happy; Wilfrey is no exception. Jet covered in fire? Check. Overwhelming joy? Check. The ST-X8 Vortex ready for lift off! ---------------------------------- Will release the craft file upon request. This was a fantastically fun challenge, I really enjoyed it, and I think it helped me with my designing, building, and flying of planes and SSTOs. Squeezing every last little M/S out of a plane is frigging nerve wracking. Also totally awesome!
  4. When .20 hit, I was delighted with the new Clamp-o-tron Sr. and the cupola. I decided to rebuild my space station, using a cupola as an epic view port out one side of it. The launch is flawless, its so light it sails into space easily. Docking is a snap. Now comes time to Decouple the RCS block off the bottom of the cupola. The RCS tank sails off into the void... without the Decoupler. It was fused and strutted to the Cupola, completely blocking the view. I had to launch a fixed version to replace it.

  6. Kerbal Space Program is never having to ask that question! Obviously he saw where there was not a plane that fries Kerbals, and said 'THIS WILL NO DO!'
  7. I'm going to steal some of your designs. Specifically the docking station at the back with the ramp.

  9. These are amazing! Playing around with the VTOL, need to get the ring into orbit. Such a great idea! Thanks!
  10. The Dock-fu was strong with me as I stuck this thing together. Probably the first piece of purely spaceship art I've build and put into orbit. It went up in three pieces. This is my refrence: And this is the beauty I put together. As mentioned, I focused on making it as faithful to the glorious IDA frigate. Minus the cargo. Another shot, for the sake of beautiful images of space ships. The parts are available here. Warning: Form over function.
