1. Yeah, it's broken until a fix comes along. And same here, although I usually employ Falcon 9-style flyback boosters
2. Do the stages your dropping have a probe core? If they do, it's a update-bug, if they don't, add a core and watch them appear on the list :) I have yet to test this one out in 1.0.5, but if I encounter a similar problem, I'll let y'all know
3. Just use thrust control in the right click menu, as well as fuel level. I also use RCS build aid to figure out very exactly at what percentage everything should be, as this plugin has an engine balancer as well. For example: When I balanced the 551, I started by divinding 200% (of two boosters) byy three (for the boosters on the other side). Thus I set the three boosters' thrust and fuel level at 66.5%. However, this isn't perfect yet, and that's were RCS build aid comes in for finetuning.
4. Moar new toys! The Proton has been completely rebuilt and added to the OP The Soyuz depicted in the image is not yet available, you'll have to wait a little while for that one until I finish the accompanying R-7 rocket
5. Hmm, I might, but there's so much on my to do list, and so little time First I'm gonna build an Soyuz FG to lift the Soyuz TMA up in style
6. The Atlas V is up, and I'm rebuilding a whole bunch of things. I've deleted all the old stuff, so my replica thread only has the new Atlas right now, but more will be added soon. For instance, this lovely Proton and the Salyut (and Almaz) stations The only thing I still wanna do with these, is rework the placeholder Briz M. The current one gets the job done, but it looks quite cruddy :/
7. Finally found the time to upload the Atlas V, huuza! Had some issues with the second stage on the 500 series, as fairings within fairings tend to go boom once the outer one is jettisoned. As you might have noticed, I've changed the OP layout quite drastically as well. Now working on the Roscosmos rebuild. Proton is almost done, still quite some work on the soyuz. Stay tuned folks
8. I found these numbers on the wikipedia page:

RS-68 RS-68A

LEO GTO LEO GTO

Delta IV M+(5,2) 10,58t 5,43t 10,22t 5,49t

Delta IV M+(5,4) 13,45t 7,43t 12,82t 7,30t

Delta IV Heavy 22,98t 13,40t 25,98t 14,22t

These numbers were found on spaceflight101.com:

Delta IV M+(5,2): 11,06t to LEO 5,43t to GTO Delta IV M+(5,4): 13,77t to LEO 7,43t to GTO

Delta IV Heavy (RS-68): 22,95t to LEO 13,13t to GTO Delta IV Heavy (RS-68): 25,98t to LEO 13,80t to GTO

The RS-68A upgrade is basically a thrust upgrade, mostly geared toward an increase in performance of the Heavy variant. For production ease, the other variants will have this engine as well, even though this means a small decrease in performance for most of the Medium variants. The RS-68 will be phased out starting march this year. Any fluctuations may be due to the Payload Attach Fitting which can weigh 240 kg to 1.221 kg, depending on the payload. As for Orion, the Wikipedia page states it will weigh 21,25t total (8,91t for the capsule , 12,34t for the service module). It will have 7,91t of propellant, resulting in a dV of ~1340 m/s. Hope that helps
9. The eniges ar 6 LV-T30s clipped together, so rotating the engines themselves and still all the same is quite a hassle, so I tried rotating the SAS unit they're attached too, but the improvement is minimal, and even worse once the boosters are jettisoned. You'll have to countersteer severly, or use Mechjeb They're only there for 42 seconds, so it doable, but rather hard And you mean the gimbels for 1.1? Those are shuttle engines, I actually have a working STS although I had to double the skipper's gimbal range from 2 to 4°), but I'm postponing that untill 1.1 arrivés, so I can rework it properly.
10. Haven't tried the 541 yet, but the 421 flew horribly. After some rebalancing it's now juuuust flyable. The 541 should be easier to ballance though, since you've got more boosters to tinker with.
11. Yeah, 5 is doable, as is 3 (which I've already built and balanced), but 2 or 4 lopsided boosters, now that's some real assymmetry Not to worry peeps, i'm already looking into it, it might require some tinkering and a lot of test flights, but I'll get there, and then you'll have three more rockets to play with
12. Because I'm a perfectionist the 541 (and 421/521) is a nightmare to balance out, and even then it will still have some torque, no matter how well I manage to balance it. On your 3.5m version, you've place the 4 boosters symmetrically, but on the actual rocket, this isn't the case. The setup is just like the 551 (for production ease), just with one booster less on the side with 3 boosters. If you guys really want me to I'll see what I can do for those.
13. Probably got it confused with the Douglas DC-X, otherwise known a the Delta Clipper
14. Sooo... tomorrow I'm uploading my rebuilt Atlas V (from a few posts earlier) and I'm already tinkering away at a new Proton... I think i might be addicted xD
15. SoonTM...

16. Huh... How come sometimes the simplest ideas slip your mind? I don't really mind the look of the fins, but you're right, the real proposal doesn't have fins. Just did a testflight with smaller fins (it had really large ones, which stuck out the other side if I tried to clip them inside the tank), and everything went well. So huuzah for clippy accuracy
17. Yeah, it's either fins or a fairing around the orbiter. Otherwise you'll topple head over heels as soon as you go a little too fast and pitch away from prograde marker by even a few degrees. If you look closely, you'll see a fairing base just above the second stage engine. That one streches forward, the first segment being as flat as possible. The interstage fits snugly against it, stretching just past that first flat and conical segment, resulting in a smooth hull. It took a lot of tinkering, precision clicking and a little bug abuse to get that one right ;P A little visual clarification:
18. Three LV-T30's clipped together, has some z-fighting while in the VAB, but in flight you can't even tell.
19. Coming soon to my replica thread: rebuilt Atlas V I'm very glad I got the Dream Chaser working without fairing I'm back in town
20. Not to worry, I'm still tinkering. The Atlas family gave me a hard time, but it looks like I've almost got it. The fairing/cargobay overheat bug has temporarily killed my Soyuz FG, so there's a new issue to deal with... The other Roscosmos stuff has been updated where needed, but I'm gonna wait to release that until the Soyuz is fixed. Also, about those Russian modules. I've built a working shuttle replica, so I'm gonna try to build an almost stock ISS replica, probably using Tweakscale and Infernal Robotic
21. Nice Blok D you have there, and pretty good Proton too (although the first stage is a bit too short, but that just my correct-to-scale nitpicky stuff). Reminds me I should update my Roscosmos pack, shouldn't be too much work. I already slapped the new radiators on my TKS, and they're just perfect. In other news, I decided to once again tackle the iconic Space Shuttle. I've built many of these, but things usually went haywire after booster sep, so my previous attempt got shelved after a couple of rebuilds. But this time I got it to work All solid boosters, not too much clippy stuff, drogue chute for landing, accurate RCS, LFO for the SSMEs and monoprop for the OMS. Hell, even the lift-off has the signature wobble before the solids kick in. Oh, and did I mention she's to scale? Yeah, and with 56.6%, she fits in nicely with my other replicas. Still figuering out the max payload, so far I had fuel to spare with an 11t payload. I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar ~
22. After I've finished the Atlas V (and my exams ), I'll see what I can do. Should just be some reworking of the FGB for the most part. Maybe I'll even throw in some Mir modules as well. But in the meantime, just grab the Mir II core, remove the port and starboard docking ports, and voila: Zvezda
23. Has anyone had any success building a VTHL? I've shelved my Kliper for the time being, and tried my hand at the Dream Chaser, since i'm working on updating my Atlas V series atm. Both are flyable in the atmosphere and in space, but getting the from the ground to orbit is proving... spaghetti-like. Once above a certain speed, both rockets start tumbling after the most minute of steering corrections, bending at their interstage. I had hoped the more realistic atmo would make these easier to fly, not harder... I have some extra wings, placed as low as they can go, but I don't wanna stick on giant expensive wings, that ruin the look of the replica...
24. The LVfamily is probably gonna be last, but, yes, next up is the US pack. Might be a while though, finals are coming up
25. I've started updating these packs from 0.90 to 1.0.2, and I'm rebuilding all craft from the ground up, first to be completed is the Roscosmos pack Changelog: Proton M Subassembly went from 195 to 130 parts Salyut 1 went from 233 to 166 parts on launch, and from 36 to 32 parts in orbit Salyut 4 went from 228 to 161 parts on launch, and from 31 to 27 parts in orbit Salyut 6 went from 214 to 159 parts on launch, and from 29 to 25 parts in orbit TKS went from 268 to 214 parts on launch, and from 73 to 70 parts in orbit Block D and Briz M removed indefinitely FGB, Mir 2 and Fuel Module added in the expansion (non-reality based craft) Soyuz Subassembly went from 260 to 200 parts Soyuz went from 306 to 243 parts on launch, and from 41 to 38 parts in orbit Progress went from 296 to 230 parts on launch, and from 36 to 30 parts in orbit Parom went from 311 to 159 parts on launch, and from 44 to 56 parts in orbit Kliper and Fregat removed indefinitely VA II and Lab Module added in the expansion (non-reality based craft) Also the dowload file on mediafire is now in .zip format, instead of .rar All info in the OP as been updated as well, have fun And if I missed anything or something isn't working as advertised, let me know!
