  1. I started my second take on the Jool-5 Mission, during my fist attempt a few brave Kerbals died of food and oxygen starvation on Tylo. :(

    Launching the crew lander

    I spy with my huge Kerbal eye, something starting with the letter L

    Dumping the drop tanks. Ditching that much mass got me almost 900m/s of Dv in return!

  2. Seem to remember someone mentioning it on a forum somewhere, but I did not pay any attention. Then around 1,5 years ago I stumbled on a Scott Manley tutorial video and I knew this would consume me. I must have watched every Scott Manley video, afterwards I did not even bother with the demo. The upside of all the Scott Manleying was that I had a pretty good, but basic, understanding of orbital mechanics. I seem to remember getting into orbit within the first few hours. Back in those days the Mun was far, far away and really scary!

  3. I finished the orbital fuel depot of the KethEx Corporation in orbit around Kerbin, next steps in this career is filling it up with fuel extracted from Minmus and then getting ready for the Jool-5 challenge :)

    The last piece of the fuel depot was the second of two huge fuel storage units;

  4. I launched operation S.M.A.S.H, getting 2 stranded Kerbals down and putting a C Class potato in the dessert:

    D1179F7B35C9ADB8BB9B80011F963FE589C6F295

    The S.M.A.S.H craft has 8 chute-packs, each having 4 chutes

    Potato in sight! The big asteroid catcher has the 2 man lander can, but in the excitement of the ARM package I forgot to include any way for Jeb and Bill to come home

  5. Today I completed in-orbit construction of the InterSolar Fuel Corporation's - Big Rig "Billy", this monsters mission will be fuel runs between my KethEx Inc. - Minmus Kethane Extractor and the KethEx Inc. - Orbital Fuel Depot around Kerbin. It can deliver 23040 units of LiqFuel, 28160 units of Oxidizer and 350 units of Mono-propellant in one trip. The final craft seems to be very sturdy and stable, but lets wait until the first fully loaded precision docking for the final verdict ;)

    Launching the mid-ship docking adapter;

    220A1FCC6F1ADC206F9190734589B2480FD3E179

    These multi-port dockings require a steady hand. Having the target in a 0 degrees inclination orbit and pointing North makes it a lot easier to line everything up

    81279BBD5AD93CA2A06FAA8A7331E7326C8C621B

    Launching the 3rd and final piece, an exact copy of the first module. The only difference is in the action groups making it able to select FWD and AFT thrust correctly

    D67CCDE5ABC3C6B139637D2FFF808114CAB9C120

    Easy does it...

    1319258FF419D5BB90D974A0AF787941139D582A

    Great Succes! 8 correctly docked ports, 1 stable craft!

    03D2F4DC0D65298F04FD042E785572F73CB9FF96

    And on to Minmus to pick up the first load :)

    2290AD3A15DA8406894696A67AC04D04C8D5D036

    At the same time construction of the KethEx Inc. - Orbital Fuel Depot is also coming to an end. Today we launched the second to last piece, a critical part that has to be installed before the first Big Rig visits to drop off huge amounts of fuel; the docking module.

    Night launches are not desirable, but when orbital mechanics dictates a night launch than a night launch it is!

    A brave kerbonaut on his way to install the KAS struts

    F8EFB1F5764929DDF284975B6AA62F68E5AD4894

    Almost done, just one big fuel depot to go and optionally (as in, if I feel like it ;) ) some extra solar trusses

  6. I don't go as far as creating complete websites for my made-up organisations and companies, but I am starting to role play a lot more lately. In my current career save I have;

    KASA - The original government agency responsible for program like Kercury, Kemini and Kapollo. Currently operating the Konstellation program to the inner and outer planets and of course asteroids, getting science and redirecting asteroids.

    KethEx Ltd. - The first commercial space business, buying redirected asteroids from KASA that are in LKO, setting up an KethSat network around the planets and moons, building Keth Extraction vehicles and huge orbital refineries and fuel depots. A lot of cooperation with KASA and InterSolar Fuel; KethEx oftens invests in KASA deep space missions and in turn KethEx can put some HitchHickers Class KethSats on the mission craft to be deployed en route or at the destination.

    InterSolar Fuel - Builder of really huge fuel transports, actually a spin-off from KethEx and they are truly the experts in building big craft with multi-port docking. Clients are KethEx and of course KASA.

    Tug Inc. - In the market for a space tug? Interplanetary or just a small micro-tug to move trusses around? Tug Inc. is the place to go!

  7. I nearly crashed my Space Station a few minutes ago. I was trying to dock the first habitational module, the fifth module all in all. I got very, very close, but then I accidently fired up the engine... Luckily I was able to turn broad side of the module so I could get past the station. I missed it below 1 meter, a crash would have destroyed both of my solar panel carrying arms and the main hub. I'm so close to a heart attack atm. :)

    Haha very recognizable! This is exactly the reason I turn off all engines when I'm on the final approach during docking :)

  8. Yesterday I continued where I left of earlier this week ( http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/29533-What-did-you-do-in-KSP-today?p=1093159#post1093159 ), getting my intrepid Kerbals from Gilly, via Eve, back to the homestead of Kerbin;

    The long burn out of Eve's SOI

    And a lovely view during the Kerbin Aerocapture

    Detaching the Gilly Lander from the Science Package/Transfer Module (forget to take screenshots of the splashdown into the Kacific Ocean)

    F7D78AD6A84B3BEC4DB2D3C2A70F89CB2BA9F232

    After the Gilly Lander made a safe splashdown it was time for the Science Package to deliver it's precious cargo of Science points

    5AF99B536853273C3F6AA1890605FF4AF0A2A9B5

    When the parachutes deploy the Transfer Stage was released for a controlled crash into the water

    6AB5D8A3A89605879EE0F4FD8C5E899DD2CB6A1D

    With the Science gained during this mission I have now unlocked everything I need for a Class D Asteroid Catcher, next project is a huge Asteroid Base/Orbital Kethane Refinery :)

  9. Today Jeb and Bill traveled retrograde in relation to Kerbol for the first time. The first mission of the Zeus Program and a flight of many firsts, including a flyby of Eve, dropping a lander/probe on Eve, getting an encounter with Gilly and having our brave Kerbonauts use the Gilly Lander for the first time to get their little green feet deep into Gilly powder...

    Burn Baby Burn, the 2 NIRVA's pushing us out farther and farther

    Probe away!

    9335CF6025A502D9F28E2EB68DE557CC784F0E70

    Slowly descending through the ominous clouds of Eve, shortly before discovering we're directly above the toxic ocean of Eve.... Unfortunately the probe did not survive this toxic liquid for long :(

    121CD620F69927BC58EA92C5F56580B879FDE046

    But undeterred Jeb and Bill get on with it, getting it onto Gilly that is!

    14453AB2E56237881308E8E9A7A3A10E9DBF2DF5

    And that is were they remain, until at least Thursday when I have time to fly them back :)
