Which one of you is Star Theory? I need to interrogate you.
How do we know YOUR not Star Theory?

" And there are cheaper-in-theory ways than that" All of which require some ridiculous, border line sci-fi advances in materials science. I like to concentrate on things that could occur in my lifetime. But forgive me I suppose. This is about features in KSP2 of which will already have interstellar travel so my post is irreverent

A proper day/night skybox transition is high on my list. Right now when the sun sets or before it rises the sky is pitch black. The stars will suddenly appear. Its absolutely awful to look at and I really, really hope KSP2 can fix it.

Ill never understand the obsession with these overly intricate alternative methods of getting to orbit. What's wrong with basic reusable rockets?

I'm pretty sure that's a stock
bugfeature.Yeah ive seen it on a stock install. I was just curious if anyone across all the visual mods for this game has attempted to fix it.
-
Same here. Its just been so long since I played that there's alot of new mods I dont recognize, but for the most part grabbing everything off the forum does most of the job. However I wouldn't say no to a simple app that does nothing more then tracks mods and their versions. No auto install or updating. Which for the most part is what HebaruSan linked. I only wish it had categories, but beggars/choosers and such

Fantastic. Thank you.

I miss this thread.
That was my checklist when throwing new installs together. Now I just browse the addon-release page and space dock. But I can only imagine all the mods im missing by just skimming through each. So what does everyone use now a days to track this? I would love just a simple list of all mods currently updated. Can CKAN do this? Ive never touched it, but if I could use it as such that would perfect. However im under the impression that even CKAN doesnt list all the mods as some cannot be installed with it.

Hey Galileo. Thought id just pick your brain for a sec. You know of the starless skybox during twilight hours, right? Seems to be a stock issue. Where the skybox doesn't click in until a certain point. Has any known attempt been made to eliminate this by anyone? My most requested feature for KSP2 is quickly becoming a smooth transition from day to night :p.as

That is fantastic. And 1.8 to boot. Thank you.

I know im doing it just for fun. And to have something to look at down on the ground with DistantObjects HyperEdit may allow me to do it faster. Ill try it, ty.

Further troubles. Either im wrong in assuming I can divide 360 by X amount of satellites to get an even spread around the planet. Or by time im getting to the end off my 20 satellites they have drifted in the time it takes to switch and change each orbit. As I came around to the 20th satellite there was a large gap between the first and last. I remember seeing a mod in the past that could manage satellite constellations. Im wondering if there's a way to automatically place each 20 crafts into an even spread.
-
Are there filters for relays/surface science?
-
Thank you that looks perfect.
-
Im trying to arrange a large cluster of satellites and sorting through them in the orbital map will be tedious to say the least. And I dont want to have to go back and forth between the tracking station. Is there a way in the stock game or a mod that can show me a list of all vessels I can use to switch to?

Doing it with SuperDracos is probably the simplest and cheapest way anyway. I'm really not sure how a reusable escape tower could be better than this.
Are throttling liquid rocket engines usually cheaper and simpler then solid fuel? They're hypergolic, but still the original design intention is a thing of the past. Couldve saved all the headaches and extra weight of the engines with a classic escape tower.
-
Yep. Its a shame. SpaceX could've ditched the super dracos, taken them out of the Dragon2 design and developed a reusable escape tower.

In the past engine sound always faded with distance as the camera moved back. Now it no longer fades and I never knew how jarring it is until I lost that feature. During burns or even launches in their cruise phase Id pan out to get a break from the sound and watch the vehicle streak though the sky. And especially with flying aircraft for long periods of time. I have to mute the game now. It sucks. Is there any word from Squad on if this is even getting fixed and returning?

I also would like to see stars if on the launchpad in the middle of the night (and no clouds ofc), also during ascent as long as no trace of sunlight is visible at the horizon.
"middle of the night" ? You should see stars. Even with DOE. However there is a problem with KSP in that the stars will not naturally fade in/out during dusk/dawn. The stars just instantly appear and disappear after certain hours. I always hated it and I hope KSP2 doesn't have that issue. But as far the "middle of the night" goes you should see stars.
-
Ty so much for continuing this. Something ive always wondered. Is it possible to make it so that the dimming feature can be automatically applied whether or not the craft is in the sunlight? Sunlight-no stars. Shade - Full stars. As opposed to or even in replace of the camera just looking at a planet or sun.
-
Ty. One more thing. Is it possible to bring the breathing volume above 100%? I found aae_breathing_vol = 1 in the plugin config, but it seemed to reset itself.
-
Do the additional sound packs still function?
-
Can the sound effect volumes scale above 1 in the settings config?
-
Speaking of which. And sorry for the digression, but why do we already have three of the same Russian themed pods? They have differnent stats, but they're the same model. Not something id expect from stock parts. Id gladly trade two of those for what the OP proposes.
