if you think about it in circles... the face area of a 1.25m part is pi(1.25)^2 and the face area of a 2.5m part is pi(2.5)^2. So if you make the ratio of mass/capacity the same as the ratio of areas (granted the height of the object is the same, if not use the ratio of volumes) it should be somewhat right

I have tried to keep it so that I have as few launchers as possible. I've started with small payloads and slowly worked to heavier things and I would use one launcher until it simply could not perform the task required.

Mine Kethane and return efficiently
Olvirm replied to Olvirm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
would you recommend going to minimus instead of the mun? -
I recently decided to get into the Kethane mod. So far I have scanned the munar surface and plopped a rover on a nice pool of Kethane to mark it for my base of operations. However I'm completely lost on how I should mine the Kethane and then return it to my space station around Kerbin. I was wondering if you guys could provide me with ideas (and maybe pictures) of how your Kethane mining operations operate.

What altitude is the ISS orbiting in in terms of KSP altitudes (ie if it was orbiting at the very edge of earth's atmosphere it would be at 70km)

What's the heaviest thing you've launched?
Olvirm replied to leopardenthusiast's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I once had a ship where the only stable version of it had a TWR of ~1. When I launched I thought one of the launch clamps hadn't released because it didn't move. -
so if I myself was to turn left it would let me, but if the craft was veering left it would attempt to stop it
-
wouldn't regular SAS also push me back when I decide to turn?
-
Anything that will either get me to not deviate from the path or anything that will stop me from flipping over would be useful
-
So if I used the new wheels or a command pod I should be fine, else stick a SAS module on? My current buggy is just a few command seats and the RoveMax Model 1 wheels (along with other structural materials), any substantial deviation from the prograde marker ends up with it fallen over and unable to get up.
-
I have a problem where my buggy does not keep itself straight, causing it to turn away from the prograde marker and causing itself to flip around and die. Would adding a SAS module or an ASAS module help with this problem?

It says you can get Blutonium from rocks

hrmm maybe I should try this NP pack, though there are so many parts in it...
-
well if you want to do something similar to this http://youtu.be/GKsvfX5H83k?t=2m9s

no like have a drogue chute fire (a stock drogue chute), cut it, then activate the nova punch flat pack chutes
-
So it would be possible to have both a drogue chute and a regular chute?
-
just a parachute that can have things attached to both the top and the bottom, as Splode mentioned the problem would be if you activate the parachute and theres things on top
-
I don't have them
-
Do you think that parachutes that are flat and you can stick on the top of your spaceship will every be in the game. It's slightly annoying having to use the radial parachutes on a single seat command pod just because I want an escape tower. If I could (on the top of my command pod) have a parachute, a decoupler, and then a LEM I would rejoice.

So about Eve and future resource harvesting...
Olvirm replied to Rocketeer Hopeful's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Maybe they could make it so you can collect a smaller amount of the recourse by flying through the atmosphere and collecting it. Perhaps have it so you you get less than if you landed but enough to scrape by on -
Determine best height for aerobraking
Olvirm replied to Olvirm's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
does this only work once I've entered the SOI of the planet?
