  1. Ha! Ok, that was pretty good. - - - Updated - - - Trann & Red Iron Crown - awesome. Thank you!
  2. Thanks! I'll check this out. Any suggestions on getting more hours in a day?
  3. Hi all, Thought I posted yesterday but can't find it, so please forgive me if this is a repeat... Anyway - pretty new to this and I'm trying to find out if there are some addons that will let me do a few primary things: 1) Better orbit/maneuver node display - the stock one is OK but I find I'm constantly adjusting the view to see what I'm doing, not to mention (ok, to mention) having critical things hidden behind the navball. 2) Something akin to cockpit instrumentation that's 1) possibly like MechJeb, if that allows readouts without autopilot, and 2) something that can be overlayed like MechJeb. 3) Is there a "comprehensive" cockpit view that has a panel with this type of stuff? Maybe MechJeb is one solution but I don't know enough about it yet. Any leads appreciated! Thanks, Andrew
  4. Title says it all... This time: 7 minutes into flight, waiting for maneuver... maneuver complete... then many keyboard commands just stop working. I'm on OSX - not sure if that's related. Haven't tried on PC yet. Any ideas? thanks Andrew
  5. Yeah, that's the thing, though - are fairings really that heavy? I would think they should be really light. Not massless, just light.
  6. Just asked in another post... I think they're really heavy. Not sure yet.
  7. Are fairings... "heavy" ? While they can help get your craft smoothed out, it seems - thin as they may be - that they're made of lead or something. Any ideas?
  8. That's not gliding... that's falling with style!
  9. I'm sure this has been discovered, but... Related to my other thread about new orbiting techniques... I launched a little Stayputnik with solar panels and some batteries just to practice getting into orbit. I thought I was there, but realized I messed up and ran out of fuel. Seeing that my path took me back to the surface, I figured, hey, I'll watch it burn up. However, with panels extended from space, the craft slowed enough so that it never heated up. : ) Is this a bug?
  10. I was looking for orbital instructions, and found that the guide in the Wiki notes that it's outdated because of the new atmosphere modeling. So.... what's the new technique? thanks, Andrew
  11. duh! Don't know how I missed them. Thanks.
  12. Can't seem to find remote control parts for sending an unmanned orbital target up... Any help appreciated! thanks- Andrew
  13. Hi all, My son and I are just getting into Kerbal... Anyway, I want to understand docking ports. The first question that came up: If we want a single-seat capsule with a parachute, where to we put the docking port, and which do we use? Can't seem to find one small enough to fit on the nosecone - then, maybe the small capsule isn't meant to dock? That being the case, in any scenario, what are the standard docking parts used? I'd like to just shoot an unmanned chunk of stuff into orbit (with a docking port of course) and then follow it up with something capable of docking to it and returing to Kerbin. I guess just knowing which ports are normally used, and where the typical mounting locations might be would be a great start. Thanks! Andrew
