  1. Awesome! Very nice. The very first thing I ever tried building in KSP was a Shuttle, but It would be unstable and kept pitching over. I need to try again.
  2. If you do happen to send a rescue vehicle up there to grab the Pilot(s), can you push the abandoned module out of orbit with the thrust of the rescue vehicles engines?
  3. When it was done, did you look at it and say: "Now that is a complete LOSS."
  4. Every new goal I achieve seems to top the previous in my mind. I still get great satisfaction out of making orbit, and landing craft as well as having all my stages work as designed on any craft I launch. Though my first ever Mun landing is probably my most exciting achievment in my mind.
  5. I launched my first rescue mission to pickup a Kerbal stranded in Mun Orbit with Bingo fuel. I got my unmanned container into a very similar orbit as the stranded craft, just slightly above it. I hope to have a succesful rendesvouz so I can space walk the Kerbal into the shipp for the return home.
  6. Scott Manley has taught me soooo much hahahaha! ^^
  7. I do my best to keep my Rockets/vehicles as simple as possible, but lately I've been building larger rigs for landers, and to pickup stranded Kerbals. As I add more Rockets and Fuel Tanks I'm starting to have issues with keeping everything together, I've landed on the Mun without anything falling off, but now as I start to go bigger I start to have issues. -If I have 2 of the orange tanks one on-top of the other, and a Mainsail on the bottom, sometimes the 2 tanks aren't securely connected. Do I need to add struts to the seams between every tank? Is it better to refrain from placing tanks one ontop of the other? -If I add a series of Radial Decouplers up the side of a tank (vertically) , when I attempt to attch something to them it will only be solidly connected to one of the decouplers. even though the others appear to be in solid contact. I end up having to use struts to connect everything. -If I add a struts connecting an item that is in an early stage, to say the command module, does that strut automatically disconnect when the staged piece disconnect from the rest of the ship? Does that stress or cause any damage?
  8. It's pretty selfish to start your own picture thread because you want your pictures to be on the first few pages. You don't like the current one that the community has shared their picures on? That's not very nice.
  9. I give them names to help me remember. My Jet Plane is called the Arrow (being Cdn it's what comes to mind when I think of an awesome jet) Mun vehicles are "Apollo" Minnimus vehicles are "Minnie" My Vehicles to pickup stranded kerbals are Apollo Rescue, or Minnie Rescue. I also give them numbers. My current Apollo lander is "Apollo 2.5" The first number being how many Complete redesigns, and the second number is how many failures that resulted in a small change in the design.
  10. I removed some SRB's from a Rig I'm building and added a Strut....then I had to go to work. *sigh* real life is getting in the way
  11. That's extremely good info. Thanks! Well my rig got my lander to the Mun and I made my first landing. Now I just have to get home again.
  12. Thanks for all the replies. I'm learning alot. I've currently using them as a first stage to help get my rocket into orbit. As my mainsails start to overheating I can throttle them back, and as I start to reach around 200 m/s I can really throttle back the mainsails and save fuel while the SRB's keep me accelerating/climbing. Maybe I should try Asparagus staging with Liquid boosters if this setup doesn't hold up too well.
  13. As a new player, I apologize if this has been covered before. I tried searching and couldn't find a specific answer. Are there benefits to using Solid Rockets? I know the downside of it them not having any thrust control but what are the upsides?
  14. Thanks! I'm definitly trying my best, and I hope to have made a succesful landing on Minnimus or the Mun soon!
  15. Hey there, I've lurked here a buit, and have been playing kerbal for about a month now. I've managed to complete a few of my goals such as: -Successful launch into Orbit of Planet Kerban -Successful Orbit of Kerban -Successful Re-entry of kerban and Parachut landing within resonable distance of space center. -Successful Launch to the Mun, Orbit, Return to Kerbal and parachute landing. I'm working on doing some landings now, but my last Mun trip I had barely enough fuel to burn back to Kerban. I add more fuel but it usually makes the rocket longer and a bit more wobbly. It feels like a never ending battle of adding fuel, which weights down the craft, so ir needs more fuel....etc etc. I'm also hoping to use less propellant for the RCS thrusters as they seem to run out quickly too. Anyways, glad to be here, and I hope to have some flags planted soon.
