Lox/LH2 rocket engine exhaust pollution
notfruit replied to Tommygun's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Isn't water vapor better at trapping heat in the atmosphere than CO2? -
So I've kind of been following the "discussion" here. How hard would it be to build one of these things? It's just microwaves and a bell shaped thing, so it can't be that hard right?

Free will is a movie about a boy and a whale developing and unlikely friendship and - Oh wait. Well to me free will is just being able to make wrong decisions. [ Religion Omitted ]

Well Facebook did buy Oculus...

We'll I'm leaving then.

I even drew a picture in paint edit: Just realized the trajectory would probably not be a single relatively short burn but a spiral.

What if we send two cubesats? One would be just in charge of generating electricity and beaming it to the other one in the form of microwaves or lasers. The other would have a receiving dish thing, electric propulsion, and all the science. The first one would also act as a communication relay. Just food for thought I guess.

What would be the feasability of a crowd sourced space program? Would you throw all your money at your computer if there was one?
-
Would humanity still live on if we sent genetically modified superhumans on this ark? Would they still be considered human?

So we know the public is pretty apathetic about spaceflight, but what are we going to do about it as a community? How could we do something?

What is your most unstable ship ever in KSP?

Leave it to us guys to see huge Johnsons in everything. -
What is your most unstable ship ever in KSP?
notfruit replied to lefty39's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
My most unstable ship was an Ares I stock replica with the new ARM parts and SRB's. It would fly perfectly until the gravity turn, where a combination of lag, wobbling, and general incompetence on my part sent the craft into a spin and tore it apart. Luckily my LES (with boost fairing) worked perfectly and the kerbals lived to tell the tale. I've heard that the Ares I was more stable flying backwards. Is this true? -
Oh god, I have to say it. I'm so sorry... I'm 12 and what is this?

Cool! How did you find this?

End of Runway lights - move them
notfruit replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
What if the lights would break off when you hit them too? It was said that buildings at the KSC could be damaged. Why not runway lights? -
I recently started a save and did two missions. The first was a SSTO which reached a polar orbit (with just the beginner parts), and the second was a munar flyby with a free return trajectory (and a slight correction burn at munar periapsis, which led to a 32 G reentry). I'm planning on landing on minmus, but unfortunately I went on a science spending spree and went for bigger engines instead of actual landing gear.

I'm used to having all of my beautiful numbers calculated in game by a mod called Kerbal Engineer Redux, but it won't really read the new parts, so I decided to go old-school and crunch the numbers myself. The satisfaction from having a rocket perform exactly as intended is even more when you actually calculated your delta-v and TWR and stuff. Has anyone else started calculating stuff themselves?

With the new SAS and other control improvements, do people still need mechjeb? I stopped using it a long time ago.

I don't want to have to micro-manage life support. All I'd like to see snacks, and sleep cycles. Kerbals will steadily consume snacks throughout the mission. Without sufficient snacks they will die of hunger. Most pods that can hold kerbals like the hitchhiker will have a decent amount of snacks, and the amount of snacks stored could be tweakable. They could also have their own part for storage, and they would be transferred like any other resource. Kerbals must have some sleep to do science, pilot ships, or go on EVA. They would sleep on their own unless told otherwise. This system not only makes space station resupply missions actually worthwhile, but also could open up benefits for hypersleep other than role playing.

I'm excited I guess?

It's just kerbin bracing for impact

I personally like realistic parts (Near-Future Propulsion Pack, KSPX) and stuff for my ships, and things that help me build ships (Editor Extensions) but I don't use really big part packs like B9 Aerospace or KW Rocketry. I also don't like having an autopilot because it takes a while to make it efficient. Welcome to the forums!
