  1. Please, please, please pardon the crappy quality. This was from a week or two ago, when I first discovered the game. I didn't know how to capture screenshots, so I did the only thing I knew how: I grabbed my cellphone and snapped a quickie. Here is my first ever successful Mun landing. Hell, my first ever successful ANYTHING in KSP. The learning curve is steep, but I'm addicted and have pick up quickly. In fact, what started as a failed project turned into the beginning of an orbital space station. The orbit is on a huge inclination, so it will eventually need to either scrapped and rebuild or maybe, just maybe, my little Kerbins will find a way to push it into a better orbital plane. Who knows? I'm learning just how crafty the Kerbin people can be. Here's a sneak peak of where my little project has taken me. I launched each of the arms seperately, so 3 docking procedures to get here. The first two were basically duplicates. The third, the long weird X-cross thingy is going to be my SCIENCE platform. The central can on the bottom segment was the failed Minmus lander. And now it serves a higher purpose: I present the Science Orbital and Aeronautical Platoform, aka S.O.A.P.
  2. No. Although that is a good idea. This is a Science module. FOR SCIENCE!! The cluster of dishes have been affectionately nicknamed Kerb-Sci. So, I've tried a few methods for fixing these. The EVA was a good idea, but nothing happened. I tried bouning off them a few times but got nowhere. The trick of going back to the space center and then back to the station and re-toggling worked ... sort of. It toggled the left ones off and the right ones on. But I still only have half of the dishes operational. The rest remain fixed. In fact, thats what they say when you right click on them: FIXED. I wonder if this is a bug. Or a limitation on the number of active dishes you can have at any one time. For now, we will just operate around them. I launched a retriveable shuttle to swap out crew members. Jebediah is now home. Bill Kerman is up there now. My shuttle design was piss-poor, though, so the Kerbal Research And Planning team have scrapped it entirely. The K.R.A.P. team has been challenged with finding a better design for future launches. S.O.A.P. remains operational and is still considered a huge success. And while the future of S.O.A.P. is not yet determined, all of Kerbinkind are looking forward to it.
  3. I'VE DONE IT! Please allow me to introduce the Science Obital and Aeronautics Platform! The Kerbals launched their first manned mission to orbit about 2 days ago, putting a Kerbin in orbit though with no plans in place for follow-up. Our brave Kerbonaut knew he would be stranded with no hope of return unless his fellow Kerbal scientists and physicists could develop a safe platform of which to retrieve him. They succeeded in launching this ship: Kerbal S.O.A.P. has now had two successful launches adding both habitat space, needed supplies, and research equipment. Everything went smoothly, although section 2 is reporting some stuck equipment. The middle section in the images shows the tiny habitat that our bravest of Kerbins has to endure while awaiting technology to catch up. The two arms, reaching out as if awaiting an embrace, were the result of countless hours of hard work and very little sleep. Two separate launches within a short time frame enabled this wonderous program to succeed. All of Kerbinkind is proud. Today has been named a national holiday to celebrate S.O.A.P. and the accomplishments of one Jebediah Kerman. PS: Seriously, my 2nd batch of antennea are stuck. Right clicking only says "LOCKED" with no way to toggle. The first batch work perfectly, but this second ones don't. It is a duplicate launch. The exact same configuration, the exact same ship. See the ones on the far left side, nice and deployed? There are duplicates on the far right side that are still curled up. What happened? Is it a bug? Is there any way to fix it?

  5. I'm absolutely blown away. You guys are amazing. I have not yet tried my first docking, but I have my first test mission started. My first orbital habitat and docking port is in a stable 100k orbit around Kerbin. It has enough battery and solar power to be self sustained. Jebediah volunteered to be the first and only kerbonaut to operate it. He is currently stranded in orbit with no way to return. It is up to the team at home to design and build a ship that can reach him, dock, and return home. Jebediah knew his was a one-way trip, but his bravery has sparked a massive interest globally. Development and innovation is at an all-time high. We are all confident in our abilty to retrieve Jebediah and return him home safely. Or so we hope...
  6. Have you verified your fuel delivery? I just had a rocket displaying the same tendancy, and it turned out when I was doing my fuel lines, I didn't have symmetry on. Thus, only 2 of the 3 rockets were fuel transferring. I was using fuel unevenly, creating a huge imbalance. You might right click on the fuel tanks while you launch to see that they are draining correctly and in the correct order.
  7. So far, I've been burning through Kerbals faster than I burn through rocket fuel.
  8. Successfully landed on the Mun and returned home!!! Although, it was barely .... barely had enough fuel to make it. I got a lucky break in that I was able to make a single manuver from liftoff off of Mun with a single manuver node able to trajectory shoot back toward Home. And then not enough fuel to make a pretty retrograde burn to land on Kerbin, but it was enough to get me into atmo and fall back. I litterally ran out of fuel trying to get it to line up, and almost started to cry. Then I realized that I was losing speed in atmosphere and falling, falling, falling. I popped parachutes and landed somewhere in the middle of the ocean. But, by kerbal, I was home! Now ... I need to learn how to do this without so much luck involved. Landing on the Mun ... the landing part, was insane. I had to re-try it so many times (quicksave = F5, hold F9 to restore) because I kept crashing. I'm going to change my design of my lander and use both mini-rockets and RCS, I think. Hopefully this will give me some landing control.
  9. Is this game being marketed to schools? I'm 35 years old, and I've been HUGELY educated in a short amount of time. You want to talk about inspiring the future generations ... what better way than with this game? It is a phenomenal interractive education experience!
  10. Thanks. I didn't know about the right-click feature, and being able to interract with the ship that way. That should help a ton. Also, good tip for the backup fixed solar panels. I'll have to look into those as well. Also, , how do I do this? I'm not familiar with setting up new action groups in the assembly stage.
  11. I'm a beginner spaceman. I'm attempting my first space station. In fact, I've launched a nice orbit, set up a module with docking ports, and solar panels, and what I thought was a succesful self-contained orbiting platform. However, when I run my lights, I can see my electricity going down, but I never see where the solar panels are recharging them. What am I missing? Also, do the solar panels deploy? Mine aren't. I'm thinking this is the problem, but I can't figure out how to deploy the solar panels. And do I need anything else? Solar panel + rechargeable battery pack = profit? help a fledgling space program out?
  12. Randomly came across this game. Don't even remenber where. It just popped up and I had to take a look. Downloaded the demo and got hooked. Recently got the full version and I'm super stoked to be playing it. I have successfully landed on the Mun and walked around. Although I haven't learned how to do so with enough fuel to get home. Poor Kerbal Munwalk Team 1 is abandoned for now. Hopefully I'll get a return team up there to retrieve them eventually. My plan now is to solve this and at the same time set up a Kerbal Orbitar Space Station ... FOR SCIENCE!
