KSP inspired me to design a liquid-fueled rocket engine
totalitor replied to ap0r's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Flight of my new rocket. Pressure fed by gaseous oxygen, fuel ethanol (74% by weight). Dry mass 1100 g, wet mass 1200 g. Maximum thrust 35 N. Target was to build as light rocket as I can. There was no parachute. If rocket crash that would be ok. Launching place was wet and soft so I wished the best. First try did not work, there was rocket engine early shutdown. Reason unknown. Second try went smoothly. Rocket cleared launch tower but then started to tumble. I think CG/CP values were wrong. Should have been more speed when leaving tower. Problems with cameras, I did not catch whole flight. Apogee at least 7.2 meters, could be 20 meters. Flight time 4.3 seconds. Maybe the smallest flying liquid fueled and oxygen pressure fed rocket in the world? notmadrocketscientist -
Saw Fram2 last night. Distance 440 km. Not as bright than Mars but it was cool to see it.

Great pictures! I must also visit that place some day. I have a piece of wall of Berlin but it is not the same. I am interested in spaceflight, not Germany.

In Spain Gran Canaria in village Carrizal I found a street: CALLE COSMONAUTA COLLINS. Eh...astronauta Collins? What? https://i.imgur.com/BAxfxdf.jpg -
But...very good test flight.

I guess too many engine outs.

I am ok to go.

After many years my rocket did fly. For a while. Thank you Kerbal Space Program for inspiration. -

Welcome to follow small rocket engine testing and rocket building on my youtube channel. Latest news: -Thrust vectoring controlling done. -The longest static fire ever done 25 seconds. -Throttling control done, thrust down to 35% from maximum thrust. Trying this summer launching and landing. -
On June they will try quantum drive in space. Scam or not. What do you think? https://www.universetoday.com/160516/the-first-all-electrical-thruster-the-ivo-quantum-drive-is-headed-to-space/

One landing leg deploy was slow.
