Alot of my constructions unintentionally turn into 'land boats' xD. -

Alright, seems nice :-). I'm actually not sure the big channels will say no. Its always worth a try, isn't it? I think Macey Dean might be happy with some more exposure in the popularity of Danny2462 and Scott Manley in the community. But honestly i can't see why not to ask the bigger youtubers (HOCgaming, Danny2462, Scott Manley) if they want to participate. No you have, yes you might get = they're always free to say no if they don't want to. Although the 100 sub limit might be nice, i think we'll be short for contributors even without the limit - we've had less contributions for Minmus already. I'll do my best to contribute to the next ones, but i've been playing less KSP lately and i've never actually succesfully landed very much anywhere outside the Kerbin and Duna systems - i'm rather insecure about my Kerbals, i don't like having them orbit for very long times and i have yet to get over it. But its going better already xD. -

Right. I'm having a bit of a rough time on my part too. Its in the works, but i'm having troubles with school and i'm still holding up the project which i feel is losing a lot of momentum at the moment. You guys should maybe already start moving on - people can add to the Minmus base when they have the time, while we can still continue the project as usual with a schedule. -
how much was the game when you bought it?

20 Euros on the KSP store :-). Got it when version .20 was out. -

Go ahead - im working on my own addition and stuff, but itll take another small while before its all done and youtubeable - ill just edit it into the persistance later. -
"Oh god. I shouldn't have done that. Bail! BAIL!" - jumps out of the hatch in the nick of time and gets slung away by the explosion "...... oh bugger" - flat crash into [CLASSIFIED] landscape. Actually i've been in multiple of these situations. Handled right, my survival percentage is a respectable amount over 50%.

I use them for my one-tonne Remote-Jebby sattelite. They're designed specifically to be movable by these ion engines, and even then i usually have them placed in their respective orbits with a more powerful engine - the ion engine is used to preform orbital transfers - i can hop them between 10 km and million-kilometre orbits as many times as i want. The probes themselves dont have much functionality though - usually just gravity readings and stuff. Sometimes i might add a goo container or a materials bay, but this increases probe mass again. I also have a larger variant which sports three ion engines, and can preform all space-bound science operations.

I've got my last exam coming up Saturday, and if i get your all-clear, ill start my lab module then. As mentioned, i might also make small tweaks to the ground supply depot, depending on how many free parts i have left from my two constructions. The depot is rather difficult to dock to unless you have a rover so i might add a teensy one if i can spare 15 parts. Also, my youtube video won't load on my computer. Anyone else having the same problem, and if so, any hypothesies as to why? Note how Leax nicely displays the current module comes with built-in topple/fly-away functionality to prevent damage when hit by rover. Landing systems and reorientation possibility to be added in Mk. II design. Also i just noticed my video actually has a comment xD. Youtube wont let me reply, but Cake asked me what the winglets are for. Welll they were really just for launch. I also have an unfortunate habit of needing my transfer stages to complete my orbital insertion. But mainly launch - for some reason, i have absolutely NO idea why, my rockets like to start rotating clockwise when i launch them, so i usually put some winglets up for added stabilisation. -

I could land a science lab :-). The depot i currently have standing is extremely hard to dock on to with the shuttle again i found out, and it lacks a probe core. I could replace that with a Mk. II replaceable deplaceable depot while im at it - i'll add some small radial engines so it can move itself, and a probe core so it can be remote controlled. The current rover docks extremely nicely with the depot, so i was thinking of a service rover, but we dont really have anything else to service xD. And its easy for rovers to dock to the depot anyway, so as long as they have a teensy bit of rotational authority they can probably dock themselves. I have a vacation coming up, too, so i should be faster with my video this time . -

Yeah, rendering is annoying. I use camtasia like dharak, but mine renders the computer inoperable for quite a while too, depending on the actual length of the video i want to render. And yeah, i checked my task manager and only 4 seem to be doing any actual work. What do you mean 'extra threads' though? I've never known the four working ones to be completely idle - they're always running some background processes. -
Generally, i dont use drogue chutes. Most of my craft either stay in space, or decouple the crew and science parts when underway to the Kerbin ground. In these cases i usually dont use drogue shutes. The semi-opened stage of my chutes has never ripped any parts of my crafts off yet - ill usually semi deploy a few normal shutes high up to slow down to a manageable rate. By the time i get really low i've usually gone under 200 m/s of velocity. Then i use whatever is left over in the engines to safely guide my craft through the main opening stage. A last burn to get me under 6 m/s for landing seals the deal. Most importantly, my craft are usually designed with the parachutes placed as low as possible while still remaining above the center of gravity. This makes that my craft compresses itself when the main shutes open instead of stretching out, which it can usually handle far better. Except spaceplanes. When i have spaceplanes ill usually try to attach a chute or two to the back of the plane, not to slow down but to keep my nose pointing the way i want to go - my planes usually flip horribly out of control on reentry when i dont do this. Once i hit a RAM engine and control surface manageable speed and altitude, ill usually cut the shutes and glide back to the ground potentially assited by the engines.

Thats odd... i have an i7 running at only 2ghz and i don't experience any particular lag around any of the stations, even while recording video. I have 8 cores but since KSP only uses one, i dunno why yours is having trouble. What surprises me though is that all four of your cores seem to be loaded. If KSP only uses one, surely the other three should be cool? -

Sounds good, but we'll probably need a seperate module to actually boost the thing whereever we're going. Not to mention we'll be needing a lot of delta-V on a single ship in order to do so. -

That would work - but who's gonna feed the Kerbals? -

Ooh i totally missed what he did there earlier xD. Once we go interplanetary - what seems simplest to me is a procedure like this one. For this example say we're going to Duna: 1. The first person warps time forward untill we're at the start of the Duna launch window. In the meantime, everyone builds (and records, if so wished) their base/station modules and associated launch/transfer stages. 2. Player one then puts his module in Kerbin orbit and immediately slings it towards Duna, recording what footage is desired. Using time reverts, this shouldn't take more than a few hours of in-game time. 3. Player one puts the savefile online, and anyone who happens to have time can then pick up the savefile (and report it in thread), launch their module up and towards Duna and post the updated file here. 4. Following this routine, there should be ample time within the launch window for everyone to launch, since very little long-duration time warp is required. Arrivals at Duna will usually differ by at least a few hours anyway unless Mechjeb is used. 5. Once everyone has launched, one designated person who has alot of time then timewarps untill the modules hit Duna's SOI, adjusting the orbits mid-flight as necesary, and catches the lot inside a high/low Duna orbit, whatever they find more comfortable. This person could then put his module into the final orbit of the station, and produce his video. 6. From then on everyone can add their module as they wish and finish up, and produce their video. This seems to me to be the easiest way to do things, without warping through multiple Duna launch windows. In short - everyone launches towards planet, one person arranges capture, and then everyone puts their modules into place. -

Honestly i was kindof hoping we could bypass the Mun and head straight for Eve, Duna or either of their moons. If we're going to put a base and a station on every single celestial body it could take a very long time. Although the Mun would work, but then i'd think it would be next up, so i doubt it'll be out by then. -

Video is scrapped together. Just a bit of cleanup, tweaking, and then rendering it. It should be here tomorrow :-). I.e. by new years, apparently. Video making is hard. -
In my viewpoint, the highest honor is probably having returned from the surface of Eve to Kerbin with stock parts.

Whatever engine you use, any fuel you drop is going to be a waste - whatever situation you're in that has an engine, you can always burn this engine to increase the entire craft's speed and getsome delta-V out of it. Personally, unless it hampered my rotation all too much or prevented me from docking/landing effectively, i'll always keep the tank with the fuel in it. This is, assuming everything is preformed in the vacuum of space. My advice is to fill all tanks you're not going to drop, cut off fuel flow from any tanks but the orange one attached to the mainsail you're going to ditch - then, use either the LV-N's or the mainsail, depending on how much thrust you actually need (we have tweakables for this now ^-^) to empty this tank, then ditch it once its empty. You now have a fully-fueled craft with LV-N's on it, and no delta-V wasted.

Sick too here, and i'm in the middle of an exam period, which is why i haven't had very much time, but the video is coming along and is about... 4/5ths of the way done. I've scrapped the entire 'narration' project and gone for a Danny2462-esque text overlay.
