  2. Greetings!

I was just looking at the conical heat shield and trying to figure out how to get it back online.  Wish my programming was better for these new fangled c# and visual studio thingy's...

how i miss FORTRAN and ASM...

Just wanted to stop by and say hello, get in some grovelling...

    lol.

hope all is going well for you.

    Ted.

  4. Hello MrMeeb.

Just wanted to ask you about your shuttle's main engines, SSME's, and gimbal over travel / over correction.

I have in the past always used MJeb's ascent guidance with my shuttles and typically have had no problem.  however, I am having all kinds of gimbal craziness trying to use MJ's PID...

Do you use it and if so, did you adjust / change the values.????

    Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Many thanks.

  5. Hello from DrTedAstro.

I found an old config, found_tacls-for-habTech.cfg

but all parts have same amount.  needs to have some tweeking done to it.

let me know if you are going to do this or if I should.

    Thanks and cheers.

Well, thank you I guess. :) A bit harsh to Arkas. :P

  7. Hello from DrTedAstro.

I just wanted to say thanks for showing your Shuttle.

I had not seen the "direct" mod pack and grabbed it quick.  I created a new part based on their large tank and changed from cryo H2 to standard LF and Oxidizer.  I had to adjust the amounts, but now working great.

We have slightly different design, but majority is same.

    Great minds think alike.

    Cheers and thanks again.

    DrTedAstro.

  8. Just wanted to say 'thanks' for your mods.

They are adding a lot of fun and enjoyment.

Quick question, is it or would it be possible to pull the 'duna' info from your "RevampedStockSystem" and make a stand-alone package like the yellowgreenJool package?

Just was wondering.  I have several installs where i only need to change duna and your new dune is the absolute best.

Thanks for you time and your mods.

      Yup, that works perfect.

      Many thanks.

That 'duna' is soooooooo much better than stock, as is the yellow-green jool.

Any 'chance' that you might something that would make the mun look better and especially minmus????

And, where would you suggest that I start reading to try to fiddle around with planets and moons myself??  I would love to get some more realistic bodies into the game.  Again, something nice like your duna.2

thanks for all of your work and replies.

      Cheers

I'm working on the Mun and Minmus update ever since releasing 0.2. If you go to the RevSS thread you will see some of the WIP pics.

  9. Hello MrMeeb,

I just wanted to try and find out from you if you are having any problems with the Mike_NZ Shuttle when working with the oms engines in orbit?

Whenever i try to use MechJeb for rendezvous or docking, the craft always ends up chasing the node in the nav ball.  Ends up using way toooooo much fuel..

Any thoughts or ways that you have been able to overcome this.

    Many thanks in advance.

    DrTedAstro.

    1. MrMeeb

      MrMeeb

Well, firstly you should try out the newer version

In terms of chasing the navball, that's a general problem with MechJeb and asymmetrical thrust craft aka the Shuttle.  The best ways to get around it is to either set the 'node tolerance' (or something) to about 4m/s, so the node is deleted before it gets to that speed where chasing occurs - the node will be deleted when all but 4m/s of the node has been done. The other option, of course, is to fly it manually ;)

Great idea.  I was 'thinking' of tinkering with that setting.  I have it set to 0.1, the default.

Thanks for your reply and help.

      Good day to you.

      Cheers,

      DrTedAstro.

  10. Hello Mike-NZ.

I am currently stumped with trying to get the shuttle to do precise orbital maneuvers, such as orbital rendezvous and docking.

I am using MechJeb, as my pilot skills basically suck.

Getting into orbit works great.  hit my mark every time.  but when i try to do work with oms engines, the final part of the burn always turns into a chase the node around and around..

Any basic hints or words from the wise that will help me.  Simple orbit change and docking that 'should' take 400 dV ends up wasting 2000....

I have tried in stripped down, new install with only the required mods for space-shuttle and mechjeb.

I certainly will appreciate any help, ideas or knowledge.

    Cheers.

    DrtedAstro.

  11. Following your comments, i stumbled onto your "FlightTracker".

    Very nice.

is that something that can be used by 'other' people, with their own version?

    Cheers.

Thanks for reply.  I will enjoy looking over your code.

I can learn lots from you.

      Cheers, and thanks again.

it's an unholy mash of ASP and JS - I wish I had taken a closer look at AJAX earlier as I could have excised all the ASP out of the main files (body.asp, craft.asp, roster.asp). Would def recommend learning AJAX it's pretty simple, I'm using it for some of my newer features. I also don't push any code commits between releases. If you're really interested I can push my latest.

      thanks,

      I will look into ajax.

if i get overly stumped, i will ask for some extra help.

      again, thanks.

      cheers.
