Streaming right now. Input is well appreciated!

Hi all, I've KSP on and off for quite some time however I recently started streaming and thought I'd give KSP a go. I hope ya'll don't mind me pasting my stream link here. Hello! I'm new to KSP, so forgive me if this is a very stupid question. Anyways! Seeing as I can hardly get anything into orbit, I'm using pre-made "Scenarios". The refueling outpost, to be exact. I noticed a spacecraft attached to the station and did an EVA to get one of my Kerbal's into the spacecraft. Now, I'm confused as to how I can control it/detach it from the station? I tried igniting the engines via "SPACE' and other things, but it still is in control of the station. I would love some help here. Again, forgive me if it's a dumb question! Thanks.
