  1. Well, turning the Steam overlay off fixes the problem…. Only now I can't take Steam screenshots. Okay so, this is weird. I did what you said, then reactivated Steam overlay for the game, then ran it from the Steam browser, and the problem disappeared! I'm now able to use the Steam overlay, and the VAB and SPH are both accessible again! But the weird part is that, as you can see from that screenshot, it claims that I didn't actually install anything. It seems to be saying that I already had everything installed that I tried to install. But if that's the case, then why would the bug have gone away? It happened consistently every time I tried to start a new game, before. And yet now it's gone, despite that it would seem as though I haven't done anything. I wish I would have checked, before deactivating the Steam overlay, and after reactivating it but before attempting to install that driver, whether I was still getting the graphical bug in the VAB/SPH. Then I might have known for sure what fixed it, or if it truly did just fix itself on its own (as it seems to have). Ah well. Thanks for your help! The problem is resolved.
  2. I disabled anti-aliasing, and the problem from the first screenshot went away. Thanks! I ran the program directly from its installation directory, and the problem from the second and third screenshots went away. Thanks! However, this is a rather inconvenient fix. I don't like creating desktop shortcuts for things, and would prefer to be able to run KSP directly from the Steam browser, like I run all my other games. Might there be any other fixes you could think of?
  3. KSP version – 1.0.2.0 (Steam, no mods installed). Operating system – Ubuntu 14.04, 64-bit. CPU – Intel Core I3-3217U. GPU – Intel Ivybridge Mobile. Memory – 5.7 GB. What happens – on creating new game, space center, VAB, and SPH are all plagued by graphical bugs. VAB and SPH are completely unusable. 4. Ha! I probably should have made the challenge to land intact. But, I didn't; so you beat me fair and square. Nicely done.
  5. Landing on the roof of the VAB, in less than 20 seconds, using only SRBs, and only stock + Kerbal Engineer (no Mechjeb), first in third person view, then in IVA view. Here's the video. Note: at the beginning, I show that the liquid fuel engine is deactivated, and won't be used for the jump. I only needed it because my ship needed to mass exactly 28474.8 kg, in order to have the ideal TMR for both launch and landing. Here's my math. In order to have a launch TMR of 29.170 N/kg and a landing TMR of 22.403 N/kg, the ratio between the number of separatrons used for launch versus landing needed to be (18000/22.403+30)/(18000/29.170–30), or about 1.419; thus, I used 44 boosters for launch and 31 boosters for landing. This required a mass of 28474.8 kg, as I mentioned above.
  6. Hard mode – IVA only, no Mechjeb. Super-hard mode – you must beat my 16-second record. (See video below.) Protip – it helps to use Wolfram Mathematica to calculate things like ideal TMR on takeoff and landing. Here's my math.
  7. Over the last few days I've been performing an Apollo-style moon mission. As you can see in the image above, the payload would separate from the rocket, turn around, reattach to the rocket, and then divide into orbiter and lander modules. Bob (playing Michael Collins) remained in the orbiter module, while Jeb (playing Neil Armstrong) and Bill (playing Edwin Aldrin) transfered to the lander module by EVA, after munar orbit had been achieved. I'm currently in the process of aerobraking into LKO so that I can perform a targeted landing near the KSC.
  8. Performed a 760-m/s capture burn using only atmospheric drag (no engine thrust), managing to get within only a few kilometers of my desired trajectory.
  9. Planetary modding program, similar to Bethesda's GECK and SCK programs, or Universe Sandbox. First thing I'll do is recreate our real-life solar system, with all planets and moons at 1:1 scale.
  10. I am disappointed that there is not only no fix for, but no mention of a potential future fix for, ladders. I crashed a kerbal a continent away from the KSC, and sent another kerbal out to rescue him; but now they are both stuck, because of the ladder bug. Below is an illustration of mine explaining exactly what is wrong with ladders. Does anyone know if there are currently plans in place to fix this issue?
