  1. No .. its not, this is another quote, i believe that "let fly the flags of war" was an adaptation of Shakespear's original quote from Julius Caesar. The point still stands, the flag fly's itself.
  2. I may be misunderstanding your point on this one, but the amount of science decreases quite rapidly the more times you use a specific tool in a certain environment ... so surely its not how often you can click on a tool, as you have to take that tool to different places to obtain the maximum amount of RP (Research Points) I am also curious as to why you suggest that one of the player obtainable resources need to be scare to make career mode worth playing .. in all good games that i have played that work like this, i find the best ones to be the ones where the resources grow alongside the expansion of whatever it is your doing. Otherwise i just find myself getting frustrated by constantly feeling like i need more X. I think the resources in the game should react according to how you play the game, if you are careless with your kerbals lives then maybe less kerbals offer to join the program, that kind of thing. I find the most annoying games are the ones where you have to wait around for the game to develop itself (when it comes to advancing through tech or skills) It is much more enjoyable when games react to things you do and you achieve bonuses the closer to perfection you get. Instead of getting excited because an hour passes and you can finally do something, you get excited because you did something right!
  3. Ed Kermin ... found one named after me:)
  4. Nope, that phrase comes from the age old quote of "let fly the flags of war" .... the flag fly's itself
  5. I think Torham is right on this one. I would love to see new Planetary bodies too, but have a feeling its just a tool for overcoming the career obstacles soon to be in place. Pulstar makes an interesting point there .... it would be cool if your observatory could not detect some of the moons and you had to send probes like voyager to find them. Which ever way they play it though, i think we can all be agreed its going to make for some fun times!
  6. Interesting thread ... I kind of agree with Hanoj, but it depends how far they go with the game. If they did ever bring in other star systems into the fold and had a whole galaxy conquest to boldly go style thing happening, it would be awesome if the suns grew and imploded over time .. this would obviously not be to a real timescale because .. well obvious reasons. That way you could have a more open ended endgame that could, if designed with numerous different solar lifespan seeds for the different systems, end differently every time you played it. That in my opinion would be beyond epic and i think we are a looooong way off ever seeing this come to fruition ... maybe for Kerbal II
  7. If that is in reference to my question about sirrobert, i do not mean to offend as stated, simply curious .... apologies to all concerned, agreed this is a forum for debate not a place to vent emotions. on the note of debate, is there a like/dislike button for this forum .... i find the function useful to see which posts stand out in terms of general popularity (for example i would give a like to lexar as i feel he makes a solid point ) nvm ... just found the reputation tab, still would be nice to see likes/dislike thou
  8. I Totally agree with Sean on this one .... really simple in my mind so can i just hash this out quickly to try and end the argument. Career Mode --- Should be as realistic and challenging as possible, it may only be an SP but its about setting yourself obstacles and overcoming them. Sandbox Mode --- Lie, Cheat, Steal, Maim, Kill .... basiclly do whatever you want to the game that gives you a cheap thrill. If you cheat in career mode your kind of missing the point and if you take sandbox to seriously then ditto. P.S don't mean to be offensive here but is sirrobert a troll?, cause he seems to like trying to wind ppl up Oh and in answer to the original post .... i think the tech is fine at the moment, just my opinion however, but seems kind of pointless having to wait for ur tech to develop
  9. So people not liking this one then .... fair enough, Its a shame really, ..... I can see it making things a looot more exciting. Only drawback i saw was --- for some reason some builds work fine the first time but will completely fall apart on the second. and i know what you guys are saying in regards to treating all the failed attempts as a simulator, its kind of what i do now anyway. I just think that failures happen in the space program and using your initiative to solve the crisis is a big part of being an astronaut ... look at apollo 13 one of NASA's most famous of flights ... they didnt make a film about apollo 11 did they!! This game could so easily re-create that lvl of excitement, i know that its really long winded testing every stage of your mission before a real flight takes place, but it would test you ... How confident are you in your designs over how much do you care for your kerbals! In regards to making the game more real ... i think for games like this the more real the better. I understand that some people don't like realism in games but have mainly found that's because they can't deal with the intensity real life throws at you and like to take the easy way out. If this is you stop being lazy and man up!!! that said i do love the cheat of being able to re-enter the atmosphere from any angle at any speed and not burn up into a million pieces. the majority of my flights would never make it home otherwise. but as far as i am concerned its still cheating
  10. Hello all, Normally i don't make suggestions for games like this, as i am sure the devs already have a million ideas on their plate ... and as always there are some obvious ones that will stand out and these obvious ones are already thought of and repeated in forums like this 1000 times. So i usually find its best to let them get on with the mountain of work before repeating any of these standard ideas. That said there is one minor tweak that i would love to see ... and i only suggest it because i know its a very very easy thing to change up. It is to do with the Revert flight option when you press escape during a mission, this is useful but I think i may have come up with a more interesting way of doing it that will add realism to the game. ---- Flight Simulation! Flight Simulation is an absolutely crucial part of NASA's work and can be very easily replicated without changing much at all. At the moment we revert the flights, I think it would be really cool if there was an option in the construction yard to turn on and off flight simulation mode before you launch you mission. So if simulation is on, things would work very much as they do now ... you can revert flights to assembly or launch as many times as you like, the difference being here that it would not allow you to gather any data to increase your science for further unlocks. whereas when you turn it off the flight is for real .... any accidents that happen, happen, and there is no reverting just plain death and mayhem. (unless you have prepared for it in your designs, with escape pods etc.) Obviously this idea is for career mode and may have already been planned, but if not i really feel it would add that intensity to your "real" flights and add that extra element of realism to the overall experience. From what i know of programming this will not be hard to adjust either. Thanks for reading people, let me know what you think!
