  1. Happy to hand over the keys to someone who can take care of it. Drive safe! http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/102373-Plugin-Delta-0-25-Crowd-Sourced-Science-Under-New-Management
  2. I am removing the ability to add comments. It used to be people would post only about typos, etc. Now 90% of the posts are rubbish and the other 5% are people trying to submit their logs through comments. You must submit your log through the form. For the other 5% who are using comments the way they should be used, I am sorry. I just don't have the time to comb through all the other crap.
  3. Funny, it was working fine until recently. I admit I've been less than present lately but for the first few (five?) months we had it down pat. Anyways, as you may know, I'm accepting ideas to make it better. So don't whine, make a suggestion. Maybe things will change. Replied. <3
  4. (please lengthen your message to at least ten characters)
  5. It's CC BY-NC-SA. Sorry, real life has taken over. I posted a recent copy of the form which should stay. You can still submit things but submissions are not moving over. I have to figure out a solution to the file size problem. This would also be a good time to revamp the project. If you have ideas about how to get a file that auto-updates that people can simply place in a mods folder instead of replacing their current .cfg file, I'm all ears. Send me an intelligent PM. I don't want to have to sort through the thread to figure it out. I'm lazy. You can, of course, discuss in the thread...
  6. Hi all, Sorry for the hiccup. I think something is wrong with the script -- either the file is too long, or there are too many outstanding submissions. You can keep submitting things, but the file won't be updated until I figure this out. I've replaced the link with a recent (static) backup.
  7. I haven't played in a while but if someone wants to tell me the names of the biomes on the asteroids, I will add them. You're clicking on the link below the words "The file itself is here?" I am also using Chrome... it can take a while to load, it's a huge file and google docs doesn't like huge files. If you sit on it for ten minutes and it doesn't load, shoot me an e-mail and I'll reply with the file. My address is in my profile. Is there documentation on this? My understanding is that, despite it being a deprecated practice, it's still correct.
  8. This is by far the best way to get me to do something. My new job has taken over my life and I no longer remember to check these forums on a regular basis. If you leave a comment in the file I will likely make the change or reply within 48 hours. The script still runs daily; whether things are getting approved is up to the moderators. Speaking of which, we can always use more -- see application instructions in the first post. If I don't get back to you in a week, e-mail me, my address is in my profile info.
  9. Check the submission form, way at the bottom. Sorry I've been amiss all, work has temporarily taken over.
  10. All - Just broke my arm (snowboarding). Typing/computer work is a pain. Apologies for not prioritizing this but expect no updates for a week or two. Pieman -- just copy the file over the existing one. Maybe one of the moderators can type a little more.
  11. You can either PM me the entries (as accurately as you remember them) and what biomes they *should* be, or you can resubmit them for the vanilla biomes and we'll reject the originals. Either way, do it quick. ;o) FYI to all, Google Docs is throwing an error saying it's "unavailable" when the script is executed. I will periodically execute the script manually until the problem goes away. For now, expect file updates weekly instead of daily.
  12. Removing SunInSpaceLow because yes, we know it's "hot." If you come up with something original, feel free to PM me about it.
  13. Yes, if you reference this thread, including a link, and acknowledge that your version won't have our updates unless you pull from us (not good or bad, just something to know -- not that we're getting a lot of submissions right now). Thanks for asking.
  14. Heh, sorry, I'm one for comprehensive OPs. I hate going through 20 pages of thread to find out something relevant, so I try and cram it all in there. If anyone can recommend a way to make the OP more accessible, I'm all ears.
  15. Ah crap... do the biomes needs to be listed as [body]SrfLanded[biome] in the logs file?
  16. Define "join." If you mean "submit posts," absolutely. If you mean "be a moderator," then see application instructions in the OP. To the two posters on the last page who included their submissions in their post: Please see the submission instructions.
  17. We are currently behind on logs (~75 pending) but will be having a moderating party on Sunday, so if you've been waiting for a verdict expect it on Monday. During said party we (myself and the mods) will likely discuss implementing another spreadsheet for results (eg rejected, approved, etc). No promises there, but at least know it will likely move forward.
  18. I'm curious what *exactly* you're comparing to. If a computer older then ~1-2 years, absolutely. If a "gaming rig" built in the last year, I want benchmarks.
  19. I recently edited the script a bit (okay, I just added " =" to line 70) and the problem with generic biomes (Mun, Kerbal, Eeloo) *should* be fixed. Still testing it but with luck those will make a return shortly. - - - Any interest in having a published file of the rejected submissions? This could be completely automated and would allow users to see if their log was rejected or not (currently they have to search in the file for their approved log; this way, they'd search through the spreadsheet for their rejected log). The kicker is that I can also add a "reason" column, but I'm not going to do that without a majority vote from my moderators. I don't want them to feel pressured to have a "good" reason to reject any entries -- we are playing it better safe than sorry, after all. Thoughts? Seeking input from both users and moderators here.
  20. The whole point of a crowdsourced project is that it is what the "community" wants it to be. There might be entries you don't like, there might be entries I don't like, but barring those that are inappropriate or downright distasteful, that's what happens when you crowdsource things. Call it a sociology experiment if you want. I think it would have been less interesting if everybody had written in the same English and had the exact same sense of humor (even if it was a lack of one). You are correct that the changes can be abrupt and ruin sense of immersion. I'm not sure what to do about that; I didn't think of it when I started the project. If you are willing to make a "certain" version (X-English and X-Humor) that is consistent, I am willing to host it. Until someone does that, it is what it is. We have more than 2,000 entries now, so at least for my time, it's not worth it. Basically, it's a mod. You like it or you don't. I understand both perspectives and don't take offense either way. EDIT: Also, if there is one in particular you don't like ("WHAAAAAA"), you can always comment on it. I am usually pretty receptive to specific comments... and much more likely to make a change if you have found it for me. ) DOUBLE EDIT: It would actually be pretty simple to have players indicate silly or serious and put them in different files. If you feel inclined enough to sort through and separate them I will foot the coding side and add the field in the form.
  21. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet -- someone posted about the French Republican Calender failing, but -- how annoying would it be to have to say to someone, "See you on 1447200!" (6 PM, Jan 16, Year 1). ("Aw, man, that doesn't work for me. Can we do 1449000?" (6:30))
  22. Question. In your scenario... are you married? And how does that pan out for you? Also, don't bash the feller who wants to be a computer programmer. First off, this is our "ideal" job we're talking about. Ideally, he'd only work on the things he wanted to... just like you'd only hardy-har with the people you wanted to, and still have someone cook you dinner when you get home. Second, this is the twenty-first century... it's getting easier and easier to get a higher-up position in a gaming firm, if you don't just start your own. Been on Kickstarter lately?
  23. OperationDX is my go-to for tutorials, or just videos of doing awesome stuff really well. I know for sure he has at least two round trips to Moho on his Youtube channel. But yea, like Scorched said, you're coming in fast for whatever reason. I don't know the mass of your ship but the last single nuke ship I sent to Moho had a 9 minute ascending burn.
  24. Okay, I've added Minmus's new biomes to the submission form, and the sciencecaps in the crowdsourced file now match those in the 0.23 stock file. I did not see any entries for the new biomes in the stock file, so haven't added any to the crowdsourced file. This means it's up to YOU FOLKS to write the new entries for Minmus! (I won't flatter myself by supposing they didn't write any since they knew crowdsourcing would take care of it) EDIT: Also, congrats everyone. Thanks to your help, there are now over 2,000 entries -- we've more than quadrupled the amount in the original file.
