  1. But can you switch vehicles while throttled up? I'm pretty sure you can't in stock.
  2. Or to see where to efficiently burn for Planetary transfers you could try the protractor mod. Use it to do a few planetary transfers, help you get the feel for it.
  3. But if you are going to go heavy on the reaction wheels, remember plenty of power for them. I hate reaching orbit only to find that my unmanned ship is dead in space.
  4. I think this discussion is just about ripe enough for a move to the science section. I've read this thread from cover to cover, and it's a very interesting discussion. Main issue I have with it is most of the talk about propellant has appeared to be centered around what seem like liquid propellants at room temp. http://www.nasa.gov/topics/technology/hydrogen/hydrogen_fuel_of_choice.html If we go with kerbals using H O rockets then we're talking about cryogenic fuels. I'm not sure if you can just use regular liquid measures, needs more research. And if we're talking blutonium, from my understanding a sixth dimensional quasi antimatter dark energy, sustained in a renormalized tau neutrino weak field oscillation. Who knows what is really going on in those gas tanks. Either way the answer is 42 Now carry on gentlemen, and ladies.
  5. Once I learned to fly off the side of kerbal, and not up it became much easier to reach orbit with the planes. I like to get up to 15000, then ascend as slow as possible up to 20000, trying to get my speed to between 1500 to 2000 m/s.
  6. I think you are about to find out and be able to tell us that. ;-) it would be good too know, I've wanted to do a voyager mission but have never gotten around to it.
  7. I just make omni directional satellites, put 4 dishes and 4 antenna, then at least one is always facing where I would like.
  8. You think to hard, the answer is quite simple. From measures of the microwave background radiation we can see that it is (more or less) evenly distributed. Simple conclusion is that I am the center of the universe and it was made just for me.
  9. Orbits just don't like to stay in perfect circles. As soon as it's not perfect different sections would start moving at different speeds. World's largest trash compactor. That whole same area covered in the same time science stuff, but I'm sure struts can fix it.
  10. I like to add struts to my struts, only way to be sure.
  11. Relativity always hurts my brain! Especially when I think of the LHC. I am a proton, I'm in the LHC doing 95% the speed of light. My buddies are protons, there in the LHC, there doing 95% the speed of light, And it's coming right at me. So we're closing the distance between ourselves faster then light, but we're not. Oh no, here comes the headache.
  12. I only have an issue with eve, that plant is always hating on and trolling me.
  13. Space is to easy to escape from. Eve is my prison, good luck getting off that rock when I put you in its depths.
  14. Ohhh, dyson's sphere, denied
  15. Mine wasn't loading last night. Got stuck at cockpit in the loading bar. Opened stream, hit verify game catch, think that's what is was called, said something about 12 files then it loaded fine. Might work for you.
  16. I might go win 7 pro (that's what I got) but for home application what would ultimate have that a gaming computer can't live without?
  17. I have backup copies of their brains,DNA is on file, we will rebuild them, stronger, faster.
  18. There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.
  19. I've just learned to watch out for the nuke engines, sometimes the extra weight just isn't worth it depending p on mission objectives.
  20. The part that took me the longest to wrap my head around is how the more you burn toward a target the further apart you get. While "chasing" a target, if you have to burn to hard to go toward it, the more you raise your orbit on the other side, this in turn can slow you down and make you go further apart. Reverse if you're in front and you burn to hard to slow down, you will lower your orbit and run away from your target. I found this by far the hardest part about rendezvous.
  21. Try matching orbits of the start, then if the target is ahead of you go to a slightly lower orbit to catch up, if behind a slightly higher orbit so it can catch up. Keep it targeted the whole time, watch for the encounters to get under 5km. I had allot of issues at first also. Found that my orbit was to far off of my targets, then my burns to match would wildly change my orbit before I got close. Good luck, took me a while but once you get it it's like riding a bike! :-)
  22. I never use hnjkli, I always just hit space to swap between rotate, and strafe mode. I find it much easier, for me anyways.
  23. Remember the lights. Sucks to be ready to dock as you transition to the dark side.
  24. Higher orbits are slower, lower orbits are faster. Single most helpful thing to know when you want to rendezvous in orbit.
