[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
helldiver replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I HATE with prejudice, when they are too far aft of the CG, because it breaks Rule of Cool. Rule of Cool First; and then everything else. Anyhow, they are aft of the CG by a little bit, just enough to keep you from tipping back. You'll still have to practice proper re-entry and fuel amounts, but the Super 25 will be a lot more forgiving. -

To do -Colliders -Thrustmax SSME for KSO Super 25. -Interior (IVA, Cockpit) -Resize Lift vehicle so it looks good both on the standard KSO and the KSO Super 25. -Testing Part's List -Missing in the picture is the KSO 25 Thrustmax SSME -

Guys, it's just a progress update. We still have to get it in game, Nazari has to wire it, and there are a few minor steps I have to do still. To do -Finish tile number labels -Edge Highlights -Collision models -Send to Nazari to begin getting it into the game. -IVA Cockpit interior -Testing -Will be an additional texture included in the download. You'll simply drag and drop it and replace the standard one. -We're still a few weeks away, the IVA isn't even done yet. But getting there. -Yes. It's a show of appreciation for all the support on the thread. So the alternate texture will only be up in the download for a short while then I'm deleting the texture. -Still have some major components that aren't done. -One only. It's a solid fuselage (rear end, cargo bay, and cockpit is all one). Wings and everything else is separate. -Wish I could give a definitive date. Note the To Do list above plus we have to give Nazari ample time to get everything working. My hope is that he doesn't run into problems. The delays are usually when he runs into problems such as plugins not functioning, incorrect behavior in game, or issues with RCS translation/flight control. Again, thanks everyone for the support! It really keeps me working on this thing diligently. These pics are to keep folks updated on the progress thus far. So far I'm done with most of the major time consuming parts. -

Gorgeous! What module is that on the right side that has the stock docking port? (Not the one the SST is docked on to) Did you make it yourself or? -

The Truss you circled is not my artwork, so it can't be from KSOS. KSO is just 439MB installed. Dunno why it would be that high. I'm not cutting anything, I'm adding more stuff. Use ATM, if you're experiencing issues still, otherwise you might not want to use this mod since it is resource intensive. Desktops and Laptops with less than 2gb RAM will have issues. No sir. Features of the KSOS project are locked in. Definitely something for the future. Nazari has been experimenting with such effects. EWBCL needs to be released already, I'm far behind as it is and I'm not going to waste time experimenting with new features. New Album comparing the two. WIP still! -

Not a lot really. At most maybe 20mb, it's too early to say. But you will definitely need to have ATM running if you don't already. Almost to the point where ATM is required in order to run the KSOS. I have the bare minimums installed: KSP Stock, KSOS Phase 2. I'm running out of memory on occasion... With the KSO 25 added, I'll definitely be crashing on load up. I think right now I'm only off by like a single 2mb file (one of the alternate spacesuits). So, even I will be running ATM. Going to be doing some marathoning today, will try and do a stream later in the evening. -

More works in progress An assembled CSE Nose Gear (No edging done yet) Doing the landing gear first. They have a ton of little parts that have to be painted. Once everything is done I'll then go in and do the edge highlights. -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
helldiver replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It's kind of weird... The wings have control surface extensions (CSE) that you install in the VAB that's it. The CSE has all the spoilers, elevons, ailerons, flaps, and spoilerons as part of it kind of like the standard KSO's rudders. Thinking about splitting it into three mods. We'll see. We discussed moving it over to the Nexus which would allow us to do an installer and you could cherry pick which components you wished to install. -

Update -High Res is done, AO is done, the big stuff is out of the way for the exterior. -Have to do some cleanups and put it back together as I move along. -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
helldiver replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
None. KSO Super 25 is now its own project. Once I'm done with the orbiter I'm going to do some art studies, and odds are it will have its own lifter as well. That's not final yet. -

Update Sorry guys for not having any updates that make sense. But a lot of it right now is technical stuff that looks like this: Basically the whole thing is split into elements and then welded into one huge object which makes UVW island setup much easier and efficient. Trying not to use a 4096x4096 but depending on the bakes I may have to. Not to worry, the ATM mod will come in handy for those that are out of resources . Once all the bakes and texturing is complete, the whole thing is punched out and reassembled like a jigsaw puzzle. For some reason this guy has been a bit more complicated. I think it's mostly because I've been a bit more diligent with it where as with the KSO I blew through it to get it out there. So I still need a bit more time. But it's getting there! -

No, no such thing. The problem was/is I've been away from home these couple weeks helping a friend move to another state. I took that opportunity to visit family I hadn't seen in over 17years. Awesome as always Westi! -

Still working on the KSO Super 25 -Had some non KSP related issues I had to take care of which consumed most of my time these couple weeks. -UVW mapping is done and I've already begun putting the textures together. Install RPM as normal after you installed the KSOS. It will overwrite some files in your GameData/RPM folder, but that's perfectly fine. No. You shouldn't be installing a fuel line to the tank to shuttle. You've done something wrong, or you aren't using the included .Craft files. They do not. I designed it so that it shouldn't use a fuel line. Nazari specifically set it up that way. No. Simply; I need 100% control on how things are updated, fixed, or changed. Especially once the EWBCL is completed since all three phases share the same resource folders. We'll look into it, thank you! See above -

Progress Updates -2.09 is in the works. Will have some improvements to the airstair on the KSO and the RCS Boom on the SST in regards to the animations not firing correctly when you switch between nearby spacecraft/EVAs. -2.09, Nazari is working on Flap functionality using firespitter. The Flaps will function in the KSO/KSO Super 25 without the need for FAR on a stock KSOS installation, that is our goal. Flaps will be simple: On, provide extra lift, Off, default lift values. Phase 2.5 -KSO Super 25 3D model is done. To Do -UVW and texture mapping. -Normal map, and texture map generation. -

I think you're referring to the attachment pads. Those are my trademark and they aren't going anywhere. Aside from that, they help myself and later Nazari keep the weight and pivot point (you guys call it root?) and the entire object centerline along the Z axis since they act as a guide. -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13

Helvetica is the correct font used by NASA. The KSO uses Arial Bold 24 I decided to take more in-progress shots since you guys have been awesome! -Removed the "boatish" look of the front lower half of the fuselage. I didn't like the look. -Made the KSO Super 25 look Sportier and slightly more aerodynamic. Matches the previous KSO a bit better. -Completed the detailing of the Cargo bay. I'm keeping it simple. -Completed the detailing of the mun-door bay. -Still have actuators and struts on the control surfaces to do. Must do one final review with Nazari regarding splitting. If I do end up splitting the rear end off, I'd have to do some minor modeling for the bulkheads you'd see while in the VAB. Aside from the that, the 3D model is about 90% finished. Once those things are out of the way, it's on to UVW mapping, Normal Map generation, and texturing. The fun part -

-Not the Super 25. Unless you turn off its RCS and provide your own RCS solution. Placing the v-tail into a single vertical configuration (NASA Shuttle/Buran style) will screw up the RCS and will cause it to spin out of control. -No real names allowed. To be honest, I hadn't planned on even putting a name on the side. -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
helldiver replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Quick Update -Work continues -Landing gear got super complicated, but it's all done! -All animations done. -3D mesh of exterior is about 80% complete. -All features finalized. No more additions, so please don't message me with suggestions. Features -Mundoor. That's the doors you see just behind the cockpit. -Cargo Bay space 10% longer than previous pictures (the cargo bay was lengthened). -Larger V-tail stabilizers. RCS built into the blocks in the rear. -Kerbals sit high, cockpit panel is low and thin, think SST cab to get a rough idea. -2 Kerbals on flight deck -6 Kerbals on crew deck -Cockpit is all digital and fully integrated. Will not have as many RPM MFDs as the KSO. -FMC will be functional and will run RPM as you're used to from the KSO. -Two center MFDs will not run RPM. They will instead be the aircraft's EIFAS and EICAS. -

That's a negative boss. Unless someone (Squad?) can fix the engine so that lights don't bleed through parts. Maybe something for the future. EWBCL features are already locked in. In a recent interview regarding this controversy, Hellman Kerman CEO of Murika Superstellar, had this to say: "Laying off fellow Kerbals in light of the deployment of the EWBCL is not recommended. A lot of the parts are interchangeable and it uses the same technology, maintenance pipeline, tooling, and even a similar parts catalog. Not to mention, same engines, lifter, and flight deck configuration. Having to retrain an entire green cadre of engineers and mechanics on practically the same system would be financial suicide. Flight deck crews already trained on the KSO Block 7 will feel right at home in the KSO EWBCL Block 1. The EWBCL won't be eliminating jobs, it's going to create more jobs."
