Yeah... it doesn't work and I doubt it ever will. Would it be cool if it did? yes. This isn't a 100% accurate physics sym and never will be. Reasons why it won't be: Aerodynamics is not the focus of the game. Space physics which is the focus of the game isn't even entirely accurate (N-body equation) It's a game. accuracy will always be secondary to fun game play. The current limits on how much of the computers resources the game can access. Reasons why it eventually could: Updates to the game engine allowing access to more ram and the other cores all computers have these days could occur. They plan on improving the current aerodynamics anyway. If the above happens then much improved aerodynamics might add to the fun of the game and not detract from it.

Is this where we post our dark pictures? I think it is.

umm... no... it won't. no atmosphere to worry about means no drag and no orbit degradation.

[UNOFFICIAL/FANMADE] 0.21 Discussion thread
FITorion replied to blspblackdeath's topic in KSP1 Discussion
just for a base line... Here's all the info I know of yet releases about what is intended to go into .21 http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/content.php/184-KSP-0-21-Update-News Revised Flight-End scene flow. Player Progress Tracking System. Overhauled Space Center Scenery. The Astronaut Complex Facility. Crew Management. Overhauled Space Center Facilities. More Upgrades to Parts and Part Modules. My save was sorta destroyed by .20 and me... not backing things up first... so I've been kinda reticent to do much in .20 thinking that I don't want to duplicate my efforts... I had sent orbiters to most places... I don't want to do that again until there is a reason too. **cough resources cough** They aren't planned for .21 and I'm a little disappointed by that. Not discouraged, not mad, I just really want it and a little bit of me will be disappointed every time I'm told "not yet". So for .20 and for .21 for which this thread is about I don't see anything to motivate me out of Kerbin orbit. I'll most likely be making novelty space craft in Kerbin orbit for a while. If crew training gets in... I can see that taking up a bunch of my time. Train my Kerbals up so that when resources are added they're all ready to go out and conquer. -
Getting to orbit... I don't care... it's all sub orbital anyways. If I'm going to a higher orbit then I put seperatrons on it and they are usually all I need to put it on a suborbital trajectory. If I'm going out to the Mun or Minmus or out to the other planets... then I don't do anything. There's so much "space" in space... that I'm not going to run into those things ever... Once I get to a planet... and if I don't want the cruse stage to be there with my satellite... I use the "end mission" trick... Just after separating I switch to the useless piece and hit end mission... I hear they're going to be removing that option... so I'll have to do something different in the future... but that's what I do for now.

Can you not use a docking port on something without a control unit?
FITorion replied to Krisism's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm fairly certain that when docking came out that uncontrollable craft "debris" with docking ports could not be docked to. I don't remember that ever changing. If it has that's wonderful... but I haven't ever checked because I always have a control module on anything I'm going to dock... Also the ports once undocked from take a bit of time and distance before they reactivate and can be docked to again. Not sure if that's relevant to your situation. -
There's a Space Shuttle mission patch water mark on the front of their suits. I never noticed that before. what mission is it? can anyone tell?
-
Lagrange points... the lack of. They aren't likely to ever be in... and I've come to accept that... but oh how I wish.
-
I for one picked up a few copies during the sale to give to others. I have one left and am not sure who I'll give it to.

The negative drag... confirms mod. The aerodynamic in the game currently is a place holder. Nose cones serve no function in the game because of this. They are dead weight. In an attempt to make them useful people set the drag to a negative number. This is dangerous. Search youtube for the crafts accelerated to beyond light speed with negative drag.

what's space engine?

We lost the main guy that did them. Still not sure why he left. I miss him. Anthony (Damion Rayne) I think was one of the best community managers I've ever seen a game have. My guess is there was a lot of non public ridicule during the website blow up that wiped all our posts back several months and had the site down for a long time. But I never saw any public vitriol and in fact saw a lot of gratitude for his hard work getting everything back up.

I know... that's were I got them all from.

I now have 33.2 GB of Apollo pictures and video. Man that took a long time. I'm not a member of any sort of file sharing place... and I just checked mediafire... they have a 10GB limit... so I don't know when or if or how I'd be able to share this with you all. If anyone wanted it.
-
yeah I grabbed down them all but it requires a firefox restart and I'd already started on Apollo 17. I'll give it a shot once I finish off 17. at 500 of 780 now.
-
I had to mess with Firefox settings to enable alt+click = save link as... but now I'm cruising. I'm starting at Apollo 17 and working backward. 200 of 780 Apollo 17 pictures downloaded so far.
-
that's cool. I wish they were all in one zip file I could just download all at once. This will take me a while going image by image.
-
I found some rather large images from the Apollo missions. I was struck by how close KSP has gotten to matching them. Still has a ways to go but it's getting better all the time.

I start outfitting my orbital probes with the sensors and sending them to Mun, Minmus, Duna, Eve, Jool and related moons, and Moho and maybe even Eeloo. Then I outfit my rovers and send them out. After that I think I'd set up a base on the Mun and Minmus with orbital stations at both to transfer the fuel to. This is only looking at the fuel making resources. I don't know how my plans will change once the other resources are in and I finally understand what they are used for.
-
No. That's without any sort of modification to any setting other than setting the graphics to maximum.

I start getting laggy around 1000 parts. I haven't gone much past that in a single ship to see where it becomes unplayable. I wouldn't want to try docking at the 1000 part point... but I think I could... Intel Core i7 3.20 GHz 32 GB ram Windows 7 64 bit Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 I tried making a town... It's really laggy... all buildings together and the road are probably about 1200-1400 parts. Edit to add: OH man ALL my posts are gone! I expected some loss due to the forum reset... but everything? I even lost my one reputation up vote ;_;
