  1. Looks to me like your a little short on fuel to be able to make it to the mun and back or it will be very close. If you used asparagus staging that would improve the launch portion of the rocket a great deal.
  2. Dude, at your suggestion just watched your grand tour part one. Epic stuff. Would be great if one of these days you got setup to do commentary. I would love to hear what you have to say about these missions.
  3. Anybody else see this posted on imgur. Most of the comments were KSP related. My favorite... Go Jeb GO!
  4. Sometime when you get to the point you want to start adding mods to the game you might be interested in the novapunch part add-on. it will double the number of engines in the game for you and gives some more options. Even though the advice you have gotten in this thread is the right advice it just sounds to me like you would be interested in novapunch. As far as the lv-n I dont now if anyone else suggested this but I lie to radial mount three or four lv-n at the bottom. Its still very efficient but it gives you more thrust and therefore shorter burn times. Im not the best pilot in the world and so the shorter burn times seam to be easier to get right. Especially on those planetary transfers.
  5. There might be another problem I didn't see anyone mention. Does your ship have more than one control module? If so and if your controlling it from the wrong module then the maneuver nodes when setup will tell you to burn in the apposite direction of where you actually need to. Just right click on the other control module and select control from here and you might get something very different. Maybe thats whats going on.
  6. Ok so I figured out the free return trajectory but what does it matter. I always do an insertion burn at the mun anyway I never use the free return. Was the free return trajectory just used as a safeguard in case there was a problem the spacecraft could return without doing another burn? Or is it that DV wise this is the cheepest way to go. I admit that I have not kept any records on how much DV I use for those insertion burns so I don't have any data from my own missions.
  7. This is exactly correct. I have spent many hours on this, got my pe and ap exactly right on, and the satalite still drifted away. I dont use mechjeb or any of the mods RoboRay suggested but I have an alternate fix. I put 4 satalites in geo S orbit all seperated by 90 degrees. They still drift but theres always one of the sats above the KSP. I do have to do some orbital maintenance now and then (to get them back to a 90deg separation) about once every ten years of gametime.
  8. Yea I have noticed that if you go into the mapsat UI and turn mapping off nothing seams to be running at all. So its very controllable. Besides when I am mapping I usually turn it on, time warp to 10x, got to work, come home to a completed map.
  9. New player to KSP and one of the things that impressed me right off was the soundtrack. Its absolutely perfect for this game. Then I discovered that all the music was created be Kevin MacLeod. Next I found Kevin's website and download a bunch of his other stuff. Now I have a KSP spotify playlist with all of Kevins stuff from the game and more. So here's my suggestion, and this is a small one. I think a new kerbanot should be added to the astronaut complex named Kevin Kerman or MacLeod Kerman in tribute to this great musician. Oh, hes also gotta be one of the orange suit guys of course.
  10. I like how the mainsail looks as well. Who says it isn't made from scrap parts I think it is. Thats what makes it great! No realy the main reason I like it is that it has a unique look to it and thats due mostly to the texture i think.
  11. I also use another mod in conjunction with the mapsat mod and that is the hull camera mod. With it I can zoom in and see most of the anomalies from space. At least the ones that are on the surface. There is also a, if I remember this right, mapsat locator device that you can put on a rover, land the rover in the general area, and use it to guide yourself to the right spot.
