  1. Jebediah. There's something about making him the first Kerbal on everything. Well, Bob beat him to Minmus.
  2. Kerbin, though I am planning my first interplanetary mission (Duna maybe), so soon I can add to the list.
  3. Thanks, I just about lost the soda all over my desk. Pretty much this. I am very critical of Career, and I understand it's not the finished product, but (in another thread) I explained how it isn't really friendly at all, nor does it really follow a path that guides a new player. The people who bother to come to the forums for help really want to give this game a chance, but how many haven't simply because they don't know where to start? KSP not only doesn't help you start, it doesn't really even tell you HOW to start. The challenge was interesting, but not teaching much of anything other than thinking how do I accomplish x without the parts I want. Add in the parts that are redundant, or not even better than what you already have, and a new player can easily just walk away. Expecting a player to seek the forums or YouTube for help is unrealistic, and I hope Squad does take steps to address this. In regards to achievements, I like that Squad said no. Without getting too deep into why I despise achievements, for KSP there is a need for pushing your own boundaries without someone telling you what milestones there are. KSP is a game that really can't be defined by achievements either. There is something about a Space Program that your own wonder, and accomplishments ARE the achievements. For example, I have screenshots of landing on Mun, and Minmus. These are great milestones, and I didn't need a game to tell me that. There wasn't a list saying, "well, that's great you got to Mun, but Jool is still locked". I docked in space, built my own Space Station, and that was cooler than "ding, here's your points...."
  4. Nice screenshot, that is a good looking setup. Question though, what's with the intakes on the rover (can't see your propulsion system for it)?
  5. I'm aware of what the title says. But you posted this when I asked if the weapon version was stock or not. Your words, not mine. So, since that reply was about as clear as mud, I asked for clarification.
  6. This lander once detached from the main stage, can land, and then return to Kerbin. I have put it both on Mun and Minmus. On Mun. On Minmus.
  7. I should have clarified. Is it still stock parts? (aka no mods required)
  8. I'm still working on my first one, but I kinda browsed the ship designs, mostly to look at basic shape and functionality, and then went to designing my own. In the meantime, I've been working on my Space Station to practice docking sections and the like for building my craft in space.
  9. Abso-freakin-lutely. I would love to get a "Kubble" Telescope, especially since we have seen and learned quite a bit from projects like this.
  10. Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Honestly, I think this would encourage more Space Stations/Bases (for newer players and those that haven't tried yet), or at the very least more Space Station/Base interactions than just an orbiting gas station (which I assume is what people basically use them for now). One of the "experimental" stations I have up is modular but I'd love to send probes back to it with materials, swap science modules, refuel it, and send it back out. (Or something like that.)
  11. Space Diarrhea? I don't think space makes it sound better. Especially after that incident involving a microwaveable space burrito, Bill, and entering a habitation module aboard the space station with Jeb. For me, my rockets are named after constellations, probes after explorers, planes after birds, and landing sites over whatever my daughter is playing with at the time (so my first Mun landing in career was Duck-Y lol).
  12. Great job! As a huge fan of the Harrier, to see a 100% stock version to play around with is just sweet. Question: What's the fuel range on this in game?
  13. Launched my first Space Station! Then docked 2 modules to it, my first docking maneuvers ever! Docking a multi-point coupler for future modules. Docked! Adding a "Control" Module, basically an extra SAS, more batteries, and a large RCS Mono-propellant Tank for the station to use and re-fuel craft.
  14. If NASA can save a mission with duct tape, a suit air hose, and a square peg that had to fit in a round hole, then Jeb should certainly be able to do something for the crazy stuff we make him fly.
  15. I'd like to look back on each planet/moon I've visited, and see the experiments as well. The information is stored in the persistent.sfs file, so why not be able to display it? It would also help me remember what I tested, and where, especially since once I get a landing down, I'm prone to set 2-3 simultaneous missions to the same body. In one case, I think I had a probe on almost every biome on Mun. Problem is, I didn't have ALL the biomes, so I can't recall which craters I'm missing. (Had to look in the persistent.sfs)
  16. 1.) Open persistent.sfs (Can use Notepad) (File is located in Kerbal Space Program/saves/nameofyoursavefolder) 2.) Ctrl + F to find SCENARIO 3.) Goto sci (like 3 lines down) 4.) Edit that value to some high number (16000 to 20000) 5.) Save 6.) Voila, you have all the Science, but nothing unlocked. DISCLAIMER: Keep a copy of your un-edited persistent.sfs as a backup in case something breaks. (Shouldn't, but when editing any game file this is a good practice.) NOTE: You can also edit the values of your Kerbals, name, stats, etc. However, I've noticed issues if you mess with Jeb, Bill, or Bob and make any extra orange suits. (Saves won't load, etc.)
  17. I think you can also edit the .cfg file to get all the Science to unlock everything, but then you'd still get full Science from the experiments, so you'd get to explore things for the first time and still have all the parts. Think someone said it's like 20k science needed for everything?
  18. Try landing on the Badlands on Kerbin then. On Kerbin, I can get to a lot of places via a rocket car. For stuff like the caps and badlands, a rocket delivery works semi-decently. Haven't tried it on Mun yet, but I need to tweak the wheels for Mun.
  19. Which is too bad, considering that if you're spamming Science, aren't you kind of just playing Sandbox?
  20. I like that idea, and would go a long way towards defining a purpose. Not only would it create dependency on doing "other" Science, at some point the player would eventually be forced to expand their research to their "less desirable" areas.
  21. My little spot is at: 88° 32' 49" N 202° 17' 27" E For visual reference, it's not far from the big crater on the northern hemisphere.
