  1. Whilst I never go overly big, usually either enough for science equipment and a sight-seeing tour through the cameras of a rover or just enough for a buggy that isn't going to weigh me down on the launchpad because I'm still just trying to explore and plant a flag on almost all celestial bodies in the system. I find that planning rovers for Gilly-like conditions is best in any situation so you'll have little as possible chance for it to tip, make sure its base is wide and possibly long, rotate the wheels to almost 45 degrees (so shift+eight twists to 40 degrees as it doesn't register wheels at 45 or beyond I find) to make the profile as low as you can without causing anything on the bottom to hit the ground. When I'm on Minmus, I take advantage of its superbly flat and frozen ground and put on the airplane wheels that have no maximum speed and let ion engines take me to where I want to go if I need to go quickly (getting to orbit this way is certainly fun). For rough terrain, I'm still puzzling how to make something to my aesthetic taste but if you take the structural girders and plonk wheels on them, you'll find they can give better suspension when on places like the Mün because they bend to the landscape from where they're joined to the body of your rover, they probably will do worse and worse when you use them on large enough rigs such as Kethane would likely bring. Then if you're looking to go up a hill, the Kerbal Attachment System mod will likely give something to get up with if you're struggling to get a Kethane miner up although I wouldn't rely on it, moreso something to lift you up and over the obstacle as you can always mine more rocket fuel with Kethane to replace the amount spent, right?
  2. That's pretty great, a bit moreso if you could slap a parachute on it and successfully land it for reuse or at least recycling. Why is the Rockomax 48-7S such an overpowered amazing feat of engineering? It seems quite reasonable compared to what it's meant to be a stacking-based version of.
  3. That's really neat! I didn't think now that we have somewhat insane-strength reaction wheels they can overcome the CoM/CoT issues with VTOLs with enough SAS. I'm going to enjoy buzzing AND landing on the SPH tower in this one!
  4. There are times when I get a lander down and plant a flag that I've taken a screenshot of what got me down there and its crew standing beside or in other layouts. What I think might be a nice addition, would be to be able to attach a screenshot to the plaque of a flag so if it's ever revisited, you can see what was there when you got there the first time. This might sound a tad redundant thanks to screenshots being readily available regardless, but it's one thing I'd like to add to the words engraved on the plaque on each flag so if I do manage to revisit the site, I'll not only have words but a viewport to what I may have forgotten I'd done, as screenshots can't as easily be placed "This was that site and that was this site". Something that might make it a little more unique would be for a Kerbal to take out a camera, put it on a stand, move the Kerbal to a position within shot and when ready, switch to the camera, aim it and take the picture. It would also add to the things to do with the Kerbals when down on each world/moon that isn't just there for utility. This isn't necessary for the game, just something I think would be nice.
  5. Are you looking at the Center of Mass or Center of Lift when building your airplanes? They need to be lined up to avoid the craft flopping around. If not that, can you give a screenshot of your aircraft?
  6. Ah thank you, it's nice to know some things are guaranteed when choosing a landing site there, per chance are the other natural satellites of each planet the same?
  7. I got a lander on the Mün, rolled two robotic rovers out and thought the starry space wasn't quite pretty enough without Kerbin in view, so I sped up time and the Mün seemed to rotate just as fast as it was going around its orbit so with a little huffing with how I didn't quite have enough fuel to get to another spot to see Kerbin from the Mün, I left the two rovers I brought to play with later and returned the Kerbals home. Is it always the same side of the Mün facing Kerbin or does it veeerrry slowly turn from your perspective when standing on Kerbin?
  8. I thought it'd be best to share this here as it's not only my first KSP video, it shows my first working SSTO's first flight into lowish Kerbin orbit: It took so long to make a blasted working SSTO that I decided to strip down my designs, no docking ports, no RCS, just the essential fuel and that is how it turned out, purely to prove to myself "I can do it!". Someday I'll get around to making a useful SSTO but until I get a rover on Duna under parachutes without breaking a wheel, I shant even attempt the mountain of a task, I might even find getting off Eve's surface easier. (Sorry if this is a repost of the same thread, it didn't appear on the forum for me nor tell me I had posted anything)
